I was getting stoned last night over at a friend of minds house. A little later on, his daughter came in and had injured her foot, so he kissed it. He said that they have always done it..I had seen it before but never really thought about it.
I thought I had read in a magazine or newspaper article awhile back that it really does help reduce the pain. Some kind of chemical is released in the body. I am not sure. hmmm..
I wonder..I could research it on Google and find the answer, but what fun is that? They just make it to easy. What do you think? Think it is possible? Have a good day.

When someone is kind to you and you get all warm and fuzzy I don't doubt for a moment that it dulls pain.

I agree with Stinky, I don't think it would actually help heal the wound, maybe just reduce the tears lol.

Placebo maybe? Perhaps the fact that someone cares enough to kiss the stub where your toe used to be is comforting enough to ease the pain.

Funny that you bring this up...because I really thought about this last night.

I am really fucking sick and can't sleep or anything...now maybe it was the cold medicine I took...but I swear when my boyfriend kissed me I felt so much better and I just wanted him to keep doing it..
..and I even told him so too.
...and it really did make me feel better...I don't know why?

It's a psychological effect- releases endorphins, especially if it's your mommy or daddy and you're a little kid. I read some New England Journal of Medicine article on it a while back, and it had sets of parents and kids, and pain rating scales and whatnot...

Same thing goes with little kids, ouchies, and band aids. Especially band aids with Dora and Sesame Street.

As my colleague stated it is Psychological but I just goes to show you what tricks the mind plays on you..........

That would be psychosomatic... and I tend to see that as a far better explanation than placebo. Anecdotal accounts of cancer patients whose attitudes are good faring better overall, and of the so-called 'will to live', I think would fall into this definition as well.
If one can make ones self ill mentally, one must also be able to heal ones self as well to some extent.

it depends on the person kissin the wounds, if shes a sweet girl then yes, if shes a little devil then no.

It depends on how hot she is. If Rosie O' Donnell was to kiss my wound, it might be fatal. But if it was Scarlett Johansson kissing my boo boo I'm sure I would be all better!

Yeah dude, I'm straight as an arrow, but I'd probably have a homeless dude kiss my booboo LONG before Rosie!:D
YUCK!

When I get injured, I have a "make-out session" with a blunt and it heals my wounds.......
