I know this should be in the movies section, but this is a film about something that happened in my neck of the woods. I can remember the real thing well, and now they've made a movie about it.
Rise of The Footsoldier follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becomming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late 80's and early 90's.
It charts 3 decades of his life following him around football hooliganism, through to his burgeoning career as a bouncer., his involvement in the early rave scene and subsequently to becomming one of the most feared criminals in the country.
The story concludes with three members of his firm being brutally murdered in the infamous "Essex Boys" shot-gun slaying at Rettendon. [1 and a half minutes away from me - down 1 road. I drive past the site they were killed on my way to work. Very big news when it happened - i can still remember it!]
Adam Saint has one several awards, one of which being "Best Indepenant Movie" 2005, and the 2006 "Screen Nations Awards"
Adam Saint [Heskall Brothers] appears with fellow actors Billy Murray [Mikey Steele], Frank Harper [Jack Wholmes], Craig Fairbrass [Pat Tate], Terry Stone [Tony Tucker], and Roland Manookin [Craig Rolfe], in this gritty version of true events surrounding the Essex Boys Murders.
It's out at Cinemas now. Seems quite interesting. The piccy is of him holding a sawn off so it appealed to me right away, not to mention it's about the two areas i live, London and Essex. Like i said, this happened 1 and a half minutes from where im sitting now. I've even had a picknick at the site they were shot. Nice grassy area really ha ha, nice place to stop and eat.
