I have a sprout with 3 sets of leaves now and the tips of the 2nd set are brown and dying.. It started when I noticed the new growth turning brown so I checked the ph and it was too high. I changed it and the plant started growing normally again but the tips of the 2nd pair which were green and healthy died from the burn to the tip. Can I clip the tips of these or would it stress the sprout?

how close is your light source? if it's too close that will cause brown burnt looking tips.. you can check if it is by holding your hand above your plant with the back of your hand up towards the light... if the back of your hand gets too hot for comfort then its too close to your plant

I am sure it's not the light source, I had a single 100 watt daylight cfl 3-4 inches above the plant. I am pretty sure it was the pH. When I fixed the pH the plant started to grow normally again. Should I clip the tips of the leaves though or just leave them on even though they are brown and dry?:smokin:

I would clip the tips.. very carefully and with sterile clippers or watever you're clipping with...since it's just a small sprout its a lot easier to stress

Wish I could post pics but my camera doesn't have a cord, waiting on my room-mate to go to his parents house to pick up his :(.
I am growing in rockwool. Going hydroponic.
