all it does is delete shit from ur computer that u dont need, then it moves ur files closer together so it can reach them faster, i do it a couple times a year, no negatives, just faster computer, so if i were u,,,, go ahead, lite up a joint, start to defragmentate, and uhhh i dunno just do it peace

i would do it a lot more but you need something like 15%of your hard drive space free and thats something i don't have. I think i should do it soon becasue its starting to slow down gotta say good bye to lots of movies and games though :'(

defragging annalyses the cross referenced files on your computer, more than one program might use a specific file more than once. the defreg goes through and unties all the crossed files and makes it easier to find the files and faster to use, this will greatly increase the speed of your computer especially if you have alot of useless shit on there.

Hard drives consist of data sectors. Data is placed in these sectors, but not always uniformly (you may have a little bits of a single file in many different vastly spaced out sectors). Defragging attempts to organize all this data so each file's data is in the same area. There are no draw backs that I can think of... I have my comp scheduled to defrag each hard drive once a week.
