Well, this is my first ever (semi successful) grow to date. I know the set up is completely rudimentary but I hope to change that if these things take off. Right now they've been growing for about 6 or seven days. Only about 4 or 5 in pure soil. And I've got some pictures of the two that have come the farthest. I'm keeping them indoors for now, and probably will have too because of the upcoming winter. Every day I put them in sunlight on my windowsill with the window open and water them about twice a day. At night, I put them in my closet with the fan on and temperature under control. So far so good? Or is it taking a bad turn already?

I'm not trying to get the most dank possible stuff yielding by the 2-3 ounces. Really, just trying to get something for me and my friends to chill with and maybe pick up a hobby. Any suggestions so far? Thanks in advance for your help.

Those seedlings shouldn't be in clear plastic cups. Roots don't like light. You don't want to disturb the plants, so wrap the cups with something lightproof. Cut four drain holes in the sides of the cup right at the bottom. Your plant is too deep in the cup. Since you can't move the plant, trim the top of the cup down some. Your plant needs to breath.

Water the plant when the top inch of soil is dry, not twice per day. Get some cfl lights and put them on an 18/6 light cyle under the cfl's.

Essentially, other than putting the seeds in soil, you have done everything wrong. Take some time to read the Grow FAQs.

Ok, update so far. Unfortunately, I lost two of my best sprouts in the past few days. And they were both because of idiot moves. I just transplanted the rest last night into bigger pots that arenâ??t see through. Also, I got a light I think might be ideal for growing. Only thing is, I have two. Pix of them are below, I was kind of hoping you guys could tell me which one would do me good. As for the plants, theyâ??ve been through a lot lately, and just seemed to have stop growing. Hoping for the best though. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, heres an update on my project. Since the last one, I've gone through two lights that did absolutely nothing for my plants which means they stayed about an inch high for two weeks straight. Just recently, I said fuck it and went out and bought some CFLs. Its been amazing what I've seen in just a few days. I'm down to three now, but they all look healthy and can see progress almost hourly. Let me know what you guys think so far, any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok everybody. Im back again with some new news. Since my last update, I've invested in a grow box. Its still very much a WIP but I like to think its taking shape. I know already that I'm going to have to expand it once the plants get bigger and that only one light will by no means be enough for all those plants. But my plan is to wait till the box is too small to make it bigger and probably only keep one plant and put more lights in there. I'm still at three serious plants only. Pictures are below. And if you notice my light fixture, I know its only one. I went to both home depot and walmart to see if they had a Y-splitter and...they didn't. So I'm still looking for that. Also I have a small 6" fan outside of the box blowing air in. Thanks in advance for the help. More to come.

PS. Anyone have any ideas about 'Expert Gardiner's All purpose plant food? I have some and was wondering when I should start adding nutes. Thanks

Uh oh. I was just looking at my plants and started to notice these white blotches on them. Some are in spots and some are like blobs of it. I really have no idea what it could be, and to be honest I'm not so sure I want to know. But if its serious, anyone mind helping me out with it?

The first two are of the leave problem. The third is the node. I was wondering if its too early to tell sex yet and took a picture to see if anyone could tell. The last is just of all three plants so far.

Fair play to you, from a very modest (admittedly inexperienced) start those plants aren't looking too bad.

Only thing I'd say is your soil mix looks a little 'peaty' and rather dense, what are you using?
For next time you need to remember that typically cannabis plants need a fairly light and airy soil mix to allow oxygen around the root system, otherwise you run the risk of killing the plant if you over water.

A mix of J Arthur Bower's John Innes Number 3 Compost and perlite is an often quoted good starter soil.

As for the yellow spots, I think you need to do a ph test and post the results, I can guarantee you'll get some sound advice on these boards.
Have you read 'Stinky's' - 'simple-noob-instructions-growin-da-dankness' in the 'Basic Growing' section? Sheer genius.

Anyhow, good work and good luck

Thanks very much flameon. It really means a lot to me to hear I'm doing a good job.

As for the soil, its an all organic mix made by 'Expert Gardiner'. I just figured, "all organic, cool". Ha, I know its probably not what I should judge soil by but I thought it was the closest to natural clean soil I could get too. But I do think maybe overwatering may have been a problem. I usually watered them one to two times a day. Of course it wasn't much, but today I've gone a whole day without watering and hope tomorrow brings some good results.

And unfortunately for the PH test, Im completely out of money. So this means no PH tester, no bigger lights, and pretty much everything else I need. So sad. But come this weekend I'm going to pick up some necessities...any idea what they should be?

Yay, update time =)

Ok, well I played photographer tonight and tried to get the best and the most pictures I could of my plants. The white blob problem seems to have gone away on plant #1, but on plant #3 it seems to have gotten worse. Today I didn't water them, so maybe that had some type of effect. As for the size, well I have pretty big hands, but I'm sure you can get somewhat of the jist. Also, as of right now Im preparing on expanding the box and transplanting plant #1 to a bigger pot. Not to mention praying to the all mighty herb gods that it is female. If not, I don't know what I'm going to do, because the other two seemed to have halted growth. :(

As for the sex, I figured it was too early to tell yet. But I still snagged a few pictures of plant #1 anyways seeing as how its the most developed. And man, the smell of these plants is nice. Its like fresh green weed, and only being able to smell musty bag weed till now. I love it. Sadly though, I had to put an air freshener in the room so to keep it more secretive.

As for the setup, I plan on getting more lights this weekend and narrowing it down to only one plant when I get the sexes all figured out. Oh, and is there anything I should be doing to make the plant show sex? Or will it eventually just grow its parts in the vegetative state?

The first two pictures are of my box, and the last three of are plant #1

The plants look good and may I ask what type of ferts are you using. The spots could be a deficency might need more nitrogen since your still in the veg stage of things. I would wait for the plants to show preflowers before you switch the light cycle to 12/12. I would not water the plants every day give them a good watering one day and wait a few days before the next watering or if the pots feel light then water. Also when you transplant to yuor next pot size try to put more perlite in your soil mix your soil still looks compacted. If you have any more question Ill be glad to answer them.:rasta::rastasmoke::pimp:

Ok, so first off. Sorry to everyone on the delayed reaction. Just been a little busy lately. Anyways, on to the plants. Since my last drop in, I've made the box bigger, transplanted plant #1, and got rid of one of my little sprouts. During the transplant of Plant #1, I accidently damaged about half of the roots, which I know isn't good, but since then the plant's been doing well. Flourishing I'd guess you could say =)

I've been planning on keeping only one plant, seeing as I only have room for one.
As always, any comments or feedback is unbelievably appreciated

PS: Thanks a lot bigweed, your post helped me tremendously. Please keep the advice coming. :rastasmoke:

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot to mention that plant #1 was damaged pretty bad too when something fell on it. The stems still good, just a few tears and rips in a couple leaves. Seems to be recovering though.
