360 busted

So I went to turn my xbox on today to play instead of the beautiful green light like normal I am shocked by a flashing red light all over. It wont play anything or go to the menu screen.. nothing. Microsoft has extended there warranty so there sending me the box.. any ideas on how long it could be before I get it back? Has this happened to anyone else?

This happend to me with my old XBOX. It's called the Christmas bug or some shit, hence the red and green flashing lights. It's pretty hard to fix the problem yourself and Microsoft told me that they would fix it for $70, so I just said FUCK IT.

Go to the xbox.com page and go to warranties and if your xbox problems meet the requirements of a free repair ( which yours does) you'll get a box in the mail in 3 days then you put your xbox in it and mail it off and you'll get another xbox in 2 weeks. you do of course realize the time it'd take would depend on how many they have to deal with at the momment of recieving it, and where you live... (some states may take longer to recieve it back due to shipping....)

anyways, i've heard of everything from a couple of weeks up to 2 months (although the latter wasn't very credible... if after a month you haven't got it, i'd call them and ask what's going on)

How many red lights do you see? If it is three, it's a Microsoft problem and you just goto their support site and request a ticket for repair. Even out of warranty repairs are free in this case. I just received the package to send mine in today. Gotta get on that...

Yeah they send you a white box to ship your console to them. Do us all a favor and mark the date you shipped it off and we'll see how long it takes you to get it back.

My 360 just died for the 2ND time. No red light even, just died. I gotta get it replaced for the 2nd time.

Don't feel bad, you're not alone, I'm on my 3rd 360 and it's making funny noises, I see a fourth in my future, and it'll be an Elite or they can keep the junk.

As for the main post, it takes an average of 3 weeks for the return, Once they must have just replaced it because it took a grand total of 7 days to return, sadly, the replacements are Refurb units unless you tell customer service when you call that if they need to replace it, you want a new one, they'll give you a spell about how it will take longer to get a brand new one, you just smile and say you don't care otherwise you get a refurb.

This is why i never bothered getting an X Box. I didnt like them to begin with, and still dont. This comfirms my beliefs.

May I ask what exactly you play on that thing? I can't find a game that will hold my attention, after finishing up RFOM, I've been left with nothing to do, I ended up getting that RPG about Enchanted Arms or something, but it's not that great. I need something fun, but not button mashing like Heavenly Sword seems to be. Although The Darkness was a pleasant surprise for the most part.

I find the 360 when working properly to have a superb number of options in terms of gaming, where the PS3 currently has few. :(

Although I look forward to getting the GOTY Edition Oblivion at the end of October.

I got my trusty PS2 for now - never had a problem, apart from with GTA VC which wont play for some reason. It keeps going red and saying i need a PS2 format disc, but i completed it already so im happy. I need a new memory card. I might get one of those 16 ones with the disc. Dunno.

The ps3 and wii are going to be getting alot of their big titles soonish. 360 had a year headstart, so unless they were extremely pathetic, they would have to have more games available to play for their system.

Now if those games for ps3 and the wii are going to be any good, thats another question. But personally I cant wait for SSB:B to come out for wii. That is seriously the best high/drunk party game ever.

Also, the new Devil May Cry looks fucking amazing. Id get a ps3 just for that game.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat, I play more PS2 games on it, cause I can't afford 65 a pop for new PS3 ones, I roughly one game every six months, usually for the 360, cause it has a vast library already. And yes it's cause of their year of head start.

I look forward mostly to GTA IV, next WWE game and Final Fantasy XIII. Although I wish Final Fantasy would go back to the regular battle formats I've grown used to over the past 20 years.

As for the next Devil May Cry, it can't be bad, they've had loads of time to work on it, and the rest of the series has been pretty good. I look forward to another go with the series.

See, I have a slimline, and I have problem with select DVD9 games. No problem with GH2, but I do have problems with God of War 2. I am pretty sure the laser needs to be adjusted, since its doing the classic clicking saying that its trying to scan to read the first of the dvd but cant.

I cant find shit for walkthroughs on the slimline though, and I dont want to completely fuck it up, since I still can play any other game but GoW2.

ps2 still rocks, 33% of XBOX360s report RRoD or the 3 rings of death. I have one, modded and with bigger fans and whatnot, but theres always the possibility of it happening. But to give yourself that little bit of comfort, buy a fan or a cooler for your 360.

I dont know if you ever checked you tube the very next day after the ps3 launch but they had loads of videos of peoples PS3 cutting off and some stop working altogether on the same day of the launch! Lol, search the web for any 360's breaking the day of the launch! Whatever though everyone has there choice of what they like but dont down a system because of the problems that some have encountered with them. I havent had a problem with my 360 or PS3 but my PS3 hasnt seen atleast a quarter of the gaming time that my 360 has and my xbox is still in good shape. When my cousin sent his 360 back for repairs it wasnt even completely broken, we were just playing halo 2 one day and the system cut off. When he turned it back on it worked just fine but he decided to send it back anyways.

This is the only reason I've been hesitant to get a 360. They have the new Falcon chips now but I will wait to see if that fixes the problems. I got my Xbox in Nov. 2001 and it's still working good :jointsmile:
