and wants to see me succeed cross your fingers and hope for the best. i got an interview at krogers on thursday and minimum pay starts an 8.00/hr and up to 12.00/hr.

i haven't had a job in a couple of years because i refuse to work fast food, and no reputable place has called me back for an interview....

i got a good feeling about it too... cuz the application just got filled out last night... so they must need people pretty bad..

It's so harsh that people get tested in the US, it's very rare here.

Well done on the interview slip, i'm sure you'll nail it...

Also, you're gonna feel so fucking good about yourself when you're working, it aint good for your mind to be out of work for too long, i sure as hell know that...

Good luck with the interview Slip, don't stress it and im sure you'll nail it. Remember give a firm handshake, be sure to smile, and always thank the interviewer for his time. (I've heard of places that determine wether or not to hire by a persons handshake and wether or not they smile, even if this place doesnt it's never a bad practice) What kinda place is Kroger's anyway?

slipknotpsycho
09-11-2007, 04:41 AM
a grocery store

birdgirl73
09-11-2007, 04:52 AM
Fingers and toes crossed here, too, sweetie. I'm proud of you. Kroger's a good place to work. A friend's sons have worked there, and you can do worse things than work your way up in the grocery business, too, especially as a foodie.

I know you already know this on some level, but as a mom I can't stop myself. Your resentment about the fact that you often worked harder than anyone else at the fast food jobs is understandable. Just know that there are always going to be people like you who work harder, better, faster and without proper credit at all jobs. Work is unfair like that, just like life is. It's unfair in fast food restaurants. It's unfair in doctors' offices and hospitals. It's unfair in the Fortune 100 and at Buckingham Palace, the White House and, no doubt, Kroger, too. That's just reality. You can let that fact deter you from working, or you can just keep focused on doing your best work possible for the good of your own family, no matter how lazy the next guy is.

Hope you knock 'em dead in the interview! Let us know, OK?

slipknotpsycho
09-11-2007, 05:04 AM
well i ain't got a problem with doing everyone else's job.. but 5.15/hr just isn't enough to be worth that.... they start off at 8, and i'll be fine picking up others slack with that kinda pay... the pay is the very reason why i've always refused to go back to fast food.... they just don't pay enough for everything i end up doing... whether i like it or not, i know there's a job to be done and i can't just sit by and let it go undone becuase my co-worker doesn't want to do his job... cuz it hurts me as well... keeps me there longer after i'm off, gets the managers more pissed at the workers causing more stress and of course more strictness...

IF i get this job i have no plan to quit... it's the exact job i've always wanted... it fits my sleep schedule my desired paychecks and my type of work.

Make sure to always call and check up on your application and see what the status is...it does a couple of things...one..it moves your app back to the top..2..it shows that you REALLY want the job and people like to hire people that really want to work and will go beyond the ordinary to get it..

oh that's a given, i always do that... hell, the first place i put in an application i called back for 2 months straight lol.... the damn dude got pissed at me tho.... (? not sure why, if i was a hiring manager i'd of hired me before then, if for nothing else, just to shut me up) and it was starting to become obvious he didn't want me, but had to keep his buisness in order and had to keep talking to me...

anyways.. any doubt is becuase even my brother in TN was applying for the same exact job on the exact same day, which corresponded to what the wife heard from other people there, that they drug test you on the spot, and they didn't even test me...

wasn't much talking or questions... she just basicly asked about the details of me working and making sure i was able to handle the work (lifting 60 pounds, going from hot storage rooms to cool floors to cold freezers and back, etc...)

she asked about my past work history (which is shotty at best) and gave me the oppurtunity to explain why i had quit them... which weren't just 'i don't feel like coming in' so i suppose that'd be as much of a plus as possible considering i quit them....

on that note tho... someone had called in (that had apparently asked for extra hours) and was trying to say they couldn't come in (apparently because they had no ride) and the woman said "well, if you still want to have a job i'd suggest you start walking or something, you asked for extra hours and you got them...."

then after she got off the phone she was said 'oh no she didn't' and called up another manager to fill her spot.... lol maybe them getting fired will work to my benefit :p

What's Krogers?

Hopefully you get the job, man. That's good that they didn't drug test you. I didn't get drug tested when I interviewed at the place where I work, and more than half the people I work with smoke weed as well.

Good luck though and keep us updated.

One last thing dude..if your work history is sporadic..You should consider some fillers to fill in work history when you havent worked..own business..real easy to fake as long as you got a number that hasnt been used before.

I am about ready to go out..but let me tell you one more thing..I got a job at Krogers..how long has that been? maybe a year and a half ago..it was in Cincinnati when I was helping take care of my mom..I just got it cause I needed some extra cash while I was there..anyway..cincinnati is Krogers home base..they interviewed me, they called me back for a second interview and that is when they gave me the saliva test..which I passed..cause I am good like that..good luck..that cant be the only job in town..how is your driving record?

i don't even hav ea liscense cuz it's suspended.. well i can get it by now with drug classes and what not (texas law is a bitch) but i haven't got around to doing it... and well... i've had two jobs (that i listed anyways, the others were under the table and woudln't help support my work history so i just left 'em out) one was at sonic, one at johnny carinos... i worked at johnny carino's for a week, and sonic a couple of months... i quit both, but would say for all the reasons to quit i had pretty decent 'excuses'
