Why cant I send a PM

I just started posting on here a few months ago. I tried to send a PM tonight but it told me I couldnt. I've seen people on here get bitched at for posting stuff in the forums that should have been sent in a PM and I dont wanna get banned from here. Please help.

If the mods say that it should be sent in a PM then I suggest you DONT write it in a rep. B/c if they said that it should be in a pm they mean aim or yahoo or whatever. I would just guess that what you have to say isnt appropriate for the site ANYWHERE.

Its not that its inappropriate just that its not for everyones eyes. But thanks for the answer. Why do they even have that option available if ya cant use it?

The "option" is there in the case that a mod has to contact you....nothing more.

I think PM's are turned off because they want the content of the site to be easily modded. People sending private messages could potentially bring the boards into dispute. Also it's a forum, not a personal messaging system.
