Elite Squad is a brasilian movie that will be released soon. Another one about the endless war between police and drugs dealers. Much like City of God... lots of blood, violence, corruption, and so.
Anyway, thats not the issue. I watched it today (pirate copy :p) and went absoultely disgusted, revolted, nauseated, indignated, angry and so due the role that weed plays in the movie.
In the movie, it seems that weed is the only "drug" that is sold. They only mention weed, weed and weed. Potheads are criminals, potheads are dealers, potheads are evil and must be arrested and killed without mercy.
It seems they dont know that the money from weed is VERY small compared with the money from coke, crack and another drugs. They dont EVEN mention coke like source of money in the movie... yes, the dealers are showed sniffing, of course, but only it. It seems that the dealers only sell weed and nothing else. But we know very well that is coke, not weed, that mainly supports the dealers.
The worst of all was watch the movie with my ignorant relatives, had to hear they saying "potheads should be killed", "potheads are criminals" and such, and cant reply, as they dont know i smoke.
Maybe im wrong, but i think they showed only weed in the movie, due the intense anti-weed propaganda in the u.s. I know that many brasilians (mainly the ones in the power) are ass-lickers of u.s., so if u.s. says that weed is bad, they just repeat "yes, our lords, weed is bad". So, for the movie have a good reception in the u.s., they show only the weed as being bad.
So, all in all, i dont know if i recommend the movie. If it were not by the absurd and completly biased anti-weed propaganda, the movie would be good, as it haves a nice story.
But the movie seems like it was made by the DEA, mainly the start of it, so i think it makes the movie very irritating (to say the least).
Anyway... if any of you fellow stoners watch it, keep in mind that it probably will enrage you as it did with me.
End of rant... :angry3:
PS. If they really wished to end the drugs dealing, they would legalize it... but as many persons in the power are funded by the drugs money, they prefer keep it illegal.
