RIP Layne...great musician...great artist
great band
and...the list goes on. almost every song they did was good. to me right turn was their best slow acoustic song, but all were great. i think cantrell is really underrated as a guitarist. not a great technician but he really really knows how to handle the instrument and write music. i love cantrell, rip layne, if you havent caught the live version with william duvall on vocals, put the oh it aint aic without layne(yes, youre right, pretend like they changed the name) attitude on hiatus, you wont regret it, a great show
and that unplugged performance of down in a hole is amazing. he was such a junkie at the point he was singing that and even though he didnt write you can really hear the emotion in his voice and see that the song has a lot of personal meaning to him.
i cant praise alice enough. if you call them grunge, best grunge band ever, no contest end of discussion

Just caught an AiC acoustic set in Asheville, NC a few days ago.
William did an amazing job and I'm definitely glad I got a chance to see them. I've been a hardcore fan for probably close to 10 years but was too young to catch them touring in the early 90s.
I agree with putting aside the "it ain't layne!" mentality. Layne made it clear to everyone close to him he was done with the rockstar life in 1996. He said he wanted to be at home in Seattle and play music for friends and make art. I really don't think he would have minded if Jerry, Sean and Mike continued. I also agree it's definitely not the same with out Layne, but it's not bad. He's amazing and the fucked up audio quality off the youtube clips and bootlegs certainly don't bring any justice to how good his voice is.
