Is it because of how much safer it is compared to regular smoking? Just curious, not trying to bark up anyones tree.

my best guess would be how many threads had popped up over time with help operating vapes and which are worth the time and etc....

Vaporizers seemed to merit their own sub-forum based on number of threads and mentions--and also because they're a unique sort of recreational smoking "tool" that falls into a category distinctly separate from pipes, bongs, and other devices.
