So, Saturday I decided I had enough pot to cook with. I read all about it online, spent a lot of time here, and made all my preparations. I put a stick of butter and a quarter of chronic in a saucepan and simmered it for about 30 minutes. At that point the cannabis was all black and I was worried that I was burning it, so I took it off the heat and strained it. I put the liquid in the freezer, and sure enough, I soon had 4 ounces of thick olive-green cannibutter. I ate a little on a bagel, and put a large portion in a drink consisting also of whiskey, water, and honey. I waited. Nothing. I waited one hour. Nothing. I waited two hours. Nothing.
Finally, after over three hours, I gave up and went to bed. I woke up 14 hours later, the next day at 3 PM.
Irritated and disappointed, I tried to figure out what went wrong. I decided that I either didn't cook the pot long enough, or I didn't eat enough. I melted the remaining cannibutter and added some fresh butter and the partially-cooked weed to the saucepan. I cooked it for about 20 minutes, so it was even greener than before. Once it was strained and cooled, I ate it all between a bagel and another drink, this one with milk instead of water and alcohol. The drink was so repulsive that I had to immediately take a bite of peanut butter after each sip.
But, alas. Two hours passed, nothing happened, and I fell asleep, waking up 13 hours later. I felt betrayed. What went wrong? The first day I could understand more - I probably didn't cook it long enough, and drinking it with water might have diluted it. But the second day, I dunno. I think I might have slept through the effects, judging by my odd sleeping pattern. I did feel a little "off" when I woke up.
Anyway... I guess the moral to this story is, be careful when you cook with weed. Know what you're doing. Although, everyone has to have a first time, a fuck-up - and this was mine. Oh yeah, and eat your weed during the day, when there's no risk of sleep.
