well i went to homedepot to day looking for some good tubes because i broke one of mine on accident anyways i seen theses T5 tubes they were real skinny and like 2 feet long and 1000 lumens each 13 watts but i had to get smaller tumb stones for the tubes

do they sell bigger tubes with more lumens? 2 ft long just fatter?

the ones i got were 2 tubes for 10 bucks

they had the warm white ones they were like 7 bucks each but something ill be adding to my hps light when time comes!!!!

2 foot T-5's are 24watts, 2500 lumens, or at least the ones I use to root clones under are. T-5's will not work in standard flouro fixtures either.

WTF is "tumb stones" ?

I think he means 'tombstones' and is probably referring to the light mounts - the tombstone shaped thigies you twist the bulb end into. :wtf:

Right. The T5 lights used for growing are HO (high output) and bOnger is correct on the wattage/lumens (for the HO bulbs). The bulbs that HD sells are not HO (at least not that I've seen). Also, if I recall correctly, unlike both T12 and T8 bulbs, T5 bulbs are measured in metric lengths. So the 2 foot bulb at home depot is probably more like 21".

T5 bulbs cannot be retrofitted into a T12 fixture, and I don't believe they can be retrofitted into a T8 fixture either, though I'm not sure on that.

Who does ? Post a link ? I paid ~15 bucks each, per 2' bulb (T5's) about 3 months ago for replacements cause I broke mine being a dumbass.

Oh, ok.......PC, I am with the program now.......LOL:D

Yeah, Grow. A 4' T-5 fixture is only 47 inches overall length. So, a 4' T5 would not be 4 feet long, technically. Guess thats why you cannot match up with standard fixture. I think I also read T5's use a different ballast or something, too. No need for me to know how it works, just that it works.....LOL:thumbsup:

lowes has a 2 t5 bulb set up 2 ft long with ballast built in to it like a reg floro set up so it's 2 bulbs side by side but instead of the fat t8 bulbs it's t5

OK, you've said it, now may I please see a link. When I type "T5 Lighting" in the <search> box at Lowes I see nothing matching a T5, 2foot, dual light setup for 19 bucks. Maybe I am missing something, but I seriously doubt it.

If what you are saying is true, then it would be cheaper for me to go to Lowes, buy their 2 light setup, toss the fixture, and use the bulbs in mine for less money than I pay for bulbs. And, I do like saving money, so point me in the right direction at Lowes website.

ok every body tumbstones are the light bulb connecters

and yes you can use a T 8 ballast if u know whats going on i put the tumb stone on it with tape and only used one side of the connecter because i got the skinny bulbs 1000 lumens each only two of them on a two bulb ballast working fine!!!!

and where i live if home depot and there are also lowes and k mart and walmart all sell the fixtures with T5 bulbs for around 20 spend a hundred and ull have a nice veg area

i bought these skinny bulbs for 5 each! just to try it!! and it worked i also found warm white full speatrum T5 and t8 also!

has any one ever herd of a fluro tube color chaud or something like that its pritty cool cause i didnt know they made warm bulbs in tubes!

bonger...something I've noticed in all of my dealings with homedepot and lowes, they don't show all their products on their websites. Some seemingly very common items aren't available to even view on their websites, let alone purchase on the site. :wtf:
