Do any of the people on the boards play WoW? I'm a WoW addict.

If so, what server, side, etc.

I just now quit WoW. I'm trying to get over my addiction and move on to another game but it's SO HARD!

I play on Lethon - Horde
58 Troll Shaman
52 Undead Warrior

Anetheron - Alliance
42 Gnome Mage

For the Horde! The alliance character was for when all my friends wanted to try out the alliance side cause we had been playing for so long on the horde side and wanted to see what it was like on the goody good side.

My love is for the Horde tho for sure.

I cant stand that game, Ive lost so many friends to it. It just seems to consume their lives and they'd rather be playing it than coming out into the real world.

Me and my mate will go to another mates house, he has 2 computers set up. They both log onto WOW and im left there playing the ps2. The other day when i was round there one of them said about 5 words the whole 3 hours i was there due to playing this game.

I dont care if you play it now and again but when you spend your life on it, it just annoys me, there are so many better things to do. AND they make you pay for it every month! So your PAYING to have no social life.

I understand that not everyone who plays wow is like this but unfortunatly alot are.

I played Guild Wars for a long time and was addicted for a while.

But not being able to jump and having to stand still while casting any kind of attack made the game suck.

The graphics were definitely good, but that's about as far as it goes. Plus only being able to be a human wasn't much fun either.

You should definitely try out WoW. The $15 a month isn't as bad as you think.

In a sense, you actually save money. You end up getting addicted to WoW... you stop going places... you stop hanging out... you stop doing a lot of things that would cost money lol.

Now everyone that plays WOW go try out FFXI or an MMO of this caliber and i bet you'll quit in under a month. In a months time on WOW you could easily gain atleast 40 levels, in a months time on FFXI i'd say hmmm 20 levels if you partied all day and never died. After WOW a few times on my cousins account i kinda feel sorry for everyone that plays it because they'll never be able to go to any reall MMO's. They'll play them for a little while complain about there to hard ( like my cousin did) and quit to go back to the simplest mmo ever which is WOW. Thats why they have so many users, its just because anyone can play it and actually get levels. When there are 10 year olds at lv 70 then you know this is a kids game!

I played WoW on and off from release, over that period of time i leveled up...70 UD Priest, 70 Tauren Shaman, 70 Orc Warrior, 70 Blood elf Hunter, and i have to say that wow is probably the worst over all mmo ive ever played. The only thing that is really fun about wow is the grind, and the grind is so easy that it doesnt last very long at all. Now i think the game has great potential but blizzards just a bunch of dumb asses, their solutions to problems only create more problems.

Burning Crusade is a great example, people complain about gear ect ect so they give standard (anything non purple imo) such a massive boost that once you've done all the 5 manning you need to do to get your desired blue gear, the purple raid gear is such a minor upgrade theres no real reason to care. The top tier blue items are actually 10 to 20 item levels ABOVE the first tier of new purples.

The fact that they've already announced the next expansion for it would worry me if i was still playing as well. They are rushing out new content so quickly that they are invalidating recent content additions before they've even been balanced!

I could go on forever like this but i wont >.>

Thats what im saying this is game is just too easy, there's no challenge at all. Everyone that plays it for the first time can make it to the high levels but on FFXI you have to have skill and knowledge and a party with the same in order to make it to the high levels. If you die you lose xp and could lose a level. On the other hand for WOW there's no penalties for death atleast none that really matter so you could fuck up everday all day and still make it to a high level in no time. If you make it to LV75 in FFXI then trust me you earned it!!!

i don't know how to quote, so i wont try and end up making myself look dumb.

But GDS, in ANY mmo level is a function of time not skill.

and yes, ive played ffxi i have/had a lvl 75 white mage.

I'll say this then, How about you play FFXI with a party of entire noobs from your tank to your healer and then play with a party of pro's and see exactly how much time it'll take you to reach lv 75.

It does take skill not just time and i feel like anyone can make it to lv 75 with a whm, hell everyone needs them in a party but if you can make it to Lv 75 with a mnk or rng or any of the DD's then i'll give you props although credits needs to be given to anyone that makes it to Lv 75 in FFXI.

Anyway though with that being said are you saying that WOW is harder than FFXI because if so obviously we didnt play the same game. There's fricken 10 and 12 year olds that are max out on WOW because thats basically a big majority of the players on the WOW servers. Most kids quit FFXI when they figure out that they cant just run around and max levels on FFXI.

Simply put this game is more of and introduction to MMO's, and nothing more. It's for people to get a feel of what a MMO is like. After that you go on to the tougher, longer MMO's that require skill (yes i said skill) to make it to the top ranks!

I had a 41 Human Rogue which was my main until I lost my leveling helper. She was my first WoW toon. Then I made a Troll Priest & basically quit Alliance, [actually wearing my "for the horde" shirt right now]except to check in once in awhile. My priest only made it to 23 before I had to cancel the account (no money) & let my ex brother-in-law have the account. I plan on getting a new account soon hopefully after I get money & I can fix the laptop that I run it on.

But yeah, questing & running instances is hard while stoned. Especially as a priest lol. I was a great (if low-lvl ) priest and if they died it was there own damn fault for being stupid. (One guy got pissed at me cuz he INSISTED I wasn't healing him, even thou I obviously was, or he would of already been dead, so he was stubborn and told me to stop healing him, he could do it, he was a rogue btw, he died twice & suffered armor dmg before he agreed I could heal him {I refuse to heal dumb people who insist they can heal themselves even thou they're NOT a healing class})

Peace.

Guilty as charged, Officer.

Great game for what it is. But thats all it is, a game. I got a level 67 Troll Hunter (Horde) on Earthern Ring (European server) and also a 6 Undead Warlock on the same server.

I might take a delve into Warcraft when it gets fully released.

However, Crysis is currently turning my head. I want to get it, but fear my PC won't handle it, and I can't afford (or justify) upgrading. But saying that, I ain't even looked to see what the spec is.

But I suppose I need to upgrade to Vista to get the full Direct X 10 capabillities.

Ill agree with you that it takes longer to get to 75 with a group of nubs (actually might be impossible since the exp loss due to death) but theres always the option of painfully slow soloing :-p

About your whm in every party comment, ill call bs on that. Post lvl 50 i actually had TROUBLE getting a group. Once ninjas get Utsu Ichi and redmages get Refresh, white mages can almost become obselete depending on the party structure.

and wows easier then ffxi, wows easier then basically every mmo out there. Sure once you get to the crappy end game content (lets go raid this once instance over and over again so i can get this piece of data which will soon be outdated because blizzard spits out broken cotent so fast they dont even bother fixing the old stuff) you've got to depend on others, but you've had to depend on people THE WHOLE GAME in ffxi.

I still stand by my original comment that in EVERY mmo, level is a function of time, NOT skill. and will addend it by saying its also a function of ebay.

I also had 40 Nin, 50 Blm, 50 Thf and 60 Smn on that character, so does that count as getting one dd to 75? :-p

edit: just because its a function of time and not skill doesnt mean it was easy getting there.

I hear that meat. Games like that, if you play them to their full potential, will seriously run your life. It's so crazy how people play games that hardcore to where you're in a strict scheduled environment. When I play a game, I like to be chill and just do shit as it comes. Schedules for any game is too much.

Regardless of how much you like WoW on a personal level, you have to respect the team who created it. So many of their employees were people who played the game for fun and got picked up for having some extraordinary skill in-game. Both lead designers used to be the guild leaders for a top EverQuest guild, pretty interesting.
