The night that Steve Irwin died I took a large amount of a drug we're not supposed to talk about and thought that I was ODing (but in reality was very far from it) and then the next day I woke up and was surprised that I was alive and I went online right away and went to CNN.com and learned that the Croc Hunter had died.

I was so sad... I did all of my reports in middle school about his wildlife conservation efforts, and a few in college... Damn. I loved that man!

I remember hearing about it from a mate and not realising it was him. The name went over my head. Shame.

I remember watching some Fox News bs. They were interviewing a close friend of Irwin's and made it seemed as though he was murdered and was not victim to fatal stingray poisoning. Those lunatic bastards at Fox made me look like a fool at school. That's what I get for believing things I see on T.V., especially Fox!

I also couldn't believe it had been a year. I was gutted when I heard about his tragic death. He has been, and still will be, very missed.

He IS the best.

Him and David Attenborough are my two favourites.

Sad thing to see Steve Irwin go, he did a lot of good for animals. Even if he was known for pissing them off, and wrestling them lol He still did a lot of good for endangered animals. Hopefully his daughter, who has been a trooper during this whole thing, will follow in his footsteps. He will truly be missed by everyone.

I do see that his young daughter is picking right up in his footsteps which is great. But honestly.....I still can't even watch his shows on TV. :(:(

The Croc Hunter kicked ass. Its ashame he had to get killed by a stingray. I think we all expected to see him go by getting bit in half by a croc or a shark etc....

I can't either. :sadcrying My husband and I were discussing the other night, since it has been a year, if we should start watching his show again, but I honestly don't think I could watch with out bawling my eyes out!! He was one of a kind! I do miss him!

Same here. He deserves it. I was watching a croc hunter program late lastnight, reminded me of this thread.

the worst part of all of it, was the interviews with his wife b. walters did.... or the speech his daughter gave... omg i balled like a baby.

he was definately one of the most amazing people... i went to australia zoo about 3 years ago, and caught one of his shows... ok i'm stopping, i am gonna get sad

He'd be over the fucking moon to see his daughter now, carrying on in his footsteps - and it's because she WANTS to. I couldnt imagine how proud he'd be, and quite rightly too!

i was talkin with a friend the other day and his little girl came in, and we were talkin about irwin, and she goes "is that the jungle girl's daddy?"

something about that statement from a 3 year old, made me very very sad
