Ok well, 20 years ago i was put n valium to control muscle spazams. I was in a car reck in 1985 and know i am a quadraplegic. Now i can drive and wheel around and cook and well a lot of things. its just that when i tell people im a quad, they think i cant move anything eg. superman.. no i get around good, or i did...well my doc sent a letter a week before i had seen him. it said "nothing that you said or did but, im getting into new pain management and dont have time to treat your type anymore". thats close but he sent a refferl list to choose from and i picked the closest. well this doc gives you shots in the back or spine. i got one even tho i didnt want to. made my head/brain numb. i think it made the spazams worse. well im not going back. i have an app. at a uroligiest in 9 days and will see him. Now do you think i should tell um to put me back on valium, which i know works? or tell em to find something eles to take for it? now iv tried many drugs for it like siezure meds, anti cy cot ics and some pain stuff, but nothing works. after 22 years yes im addicted to it. thats a no brainer. but do i get addicted to something eles? tell me what ya think peoples?

LetsSeeYa, we have a cannabis-only discussion policy at this site. The only possible exception is our medical area, where we do allow discussion of legally prescribed medicines as they deal with medical conditions and as they interact with cannabis. So to allow this thread to proceed, I'm going to move it there to our Medicinal Cannabis and Health sub-forum.

LetSeeYa, stand by for a PM from me. You can find it through your User CP up in the green nav bar, OK?

OK, LetsSeeYa, if you check your PM, you'll have a message from me.

Another mod worked on your poll to take out one of those options you had up there that alluded to a forbidden topic. Contrary to what I told you in the PM, we're going to let this thread stay visible for a while, but I want to remind others that we want this discussion to be about legally prescribed medicines, not other drugs taken for recreational purposes.

if the methadone isn't helping you, and you know the valium does, go back on the valium.

To help keep this threads within the confines of what is acceptable content, I would ask that people take this very seriously. I also ask that some of our MMJ users who got relief from MJ when prescriptions drugs didn't work or didn't work fully to please give some input. Some of these members that stick out are Xcrispi, Purple Banana, BeachGuyInThongs, THCBongMan, LIP, Imitator, Bogart, UR3rBong, SuburbanLifeMom, Storm Crow, etc.

LetSeeYa, I am also a little confused as to what you are asking or looking for. I don't know if anyone else is too but you might want to add a follow up to clear up anything.

Do you use marijuana just recreationally or does it help you physically?

I do understand you are concerned with the spasms but a lot of our members that suffer from chronic pain have muscle problems too so I think they can help give you good advice.

i'm not sure i can, delete the post if it's not fit..

but i was prescribed vicodin multiple times for all the work i've had done on my teeth... it didn't really help my back much (or not reliablly atleast, sometimes my back wouldn't hurt, but alot of times it still would)

i've never had MJ NOT help it (although i'm of course in texas and don't have a card, i still use it to self medicate alot of problems)

same goes for all my anti-psychotic meds and MJ...

in my experience, you're lucky if you can get a prescription med to actually do the job it's supposed to (which is more reason for going back to valium if you know it helps), whereas MJ has never failed me.

Yeah, the Rx drugs made me feel much worse than cannabis ever has. With cannabis, all I need is a good buzz going, and I feel much more relaxed. With the Rx meds, I needed to be in a stupor-like haze to feel any changes in my pain level... It doesn't really help my pain, rather, the state it induces in me distracts me from my pain, and frankly, that stupor is a HUGE drag. Not to mention tolerance levels rising...

Do what feels best for you. If you find cannabis helps better? Great! If the Rx meds work better? Good, but realize they also come with a price on your physical health with long-term use. Best of luck!

Purple Banana said it so well...I will just add a little of my personal experience. I hope it helps.

I just became a medicinal marijuana patient for my many chronic conditions. One of the conditions I have includes muscle spasms. The spasms hurt so much and can cause me to drop things, so I am constantly concerned I will spill a drink or something to embarrass myself. The doctor at my local family practice has me on vicodin and soma for the spasms. I hate taking these drugs as they can sometimes cause different reactions such as nausea, hot and cold sweats, heart palps, and other reactions. They also do not seem to work as well as they used to. The MM Doc has suggested that I halve the doses I use, until I get used to it. Then he wants me to cut the pills in quarters, until my body is no longer used to those medications. Also, he has me use either sativa or indica to aid me determining the time of day and which disorder I am trying to alleviate. Isn't there medicinal marijuana rights where you are in Maryland? I think it would benefit you greatly to check it out and see if you can get off of the valium. Although, I believe that some disorders can only be controlled by strong narcotics and the user should not feel guilty for using what works well for them. Maybe they would suggest the method I am using to wean you off of the valium. It can be very daunting to give up using something that has helped for so long. I wish you success.

The MMJ laws in Maryland are a bit grey- as long as you have a doctor that recommends MMJ is a good alternative to you, if you get caught with under an oz, you get a $100 fine, and written off as a misdemeanor.

Did you try Baclofen?

It's a muscle relaxer.

I love VALIUM! Its a womans best friend!

my 2 pennies in the bucket,

Why do you want to "get off" Prince Valium?

withdrawels are not phun! The body only wants "one drug", at a time, no other drug will replace the crave!

I went through 3 weeksworth of withdrawels with Benzo, had an accidental overdose, in 2001
Im glad those years are behind me, so is my Internist,

Id stay on the Valium, unless you feel you can tell them goodbye,

dont exceed dosage

take care

It's good that valium worked, but benzodiazepines are addictive and you can become tolerant very easily.
i've been on klonapin for about 5 years and it no longer does anything for my anxiety or manic/depressive episodes.
methadone, as a narcotic, must be even more addictive.
it seems to me that if marijuana helps you as much as the other things you have tried, it is the least harmful.
this is just my opinion...i'm no doctor, but because i am so often prescribed to different pills, i always read about what i'm taking.
