hello. my plants have been flowering for about 3 weeks. when i first started flowering i put them in a rubbermaid portable closet due to me not having a closet in my room. the plants bottom leaves shriveled up and died cause of no airflow. i moved after two weeks and now have a closet to put them in. i put a fan in there too and they look better. but im scared they wont produce much bud cause of the leaves they lost. is there any way to encourage bushier growth rather than height growth?

Depending on your light you can move it closer to slow upward growth, and it will also give the plants more lumens. Just watch heat and don't burn them.

I dunno man, those plants look like they need a little more veg time. They also look spindly and stretched, like your light wasn't strong enough. But SmokenChoke is right - you need more light (daylight spectrum, like MH or cool white CFLs or T5s) to achieve that leafy, bushy growth you're looking for.

anyways...........
what kinda light r u using?
yes there is a way to make it bushier no matter what you do get that light closer if your using something high powerd dont put it no close then 2 ft. you said ytou gotta fan so that will help with heat and if your using fluro's for flowering witch wont help get to much bud also you need warm white fluro's and/or hps light i use both!
when you put you'r light closer use the tie down method tie the plant loosely in a s shape instead 1 big bud head you will have 4 or even 5 but you will have to flower a little longer then normal to get more growth and/or bud!
as long as anyplant has 5 notes you can flower google it find out!!! i put plants into flowering after veging not even 4 weeks and budding good as we speak!!!
and your plant grows twice the size when flowering any ways and also get some good cannibis feed thats specaily for flowering will make your buds bigger and better and you might wanna transplant to make your plants grow a little better also and if you do i would do it now and everything else we all have told you before it gets to late!!
you can also do the tie down mwthod and convert yo plants back into vegging stage to make it get bigger also or you can geta chopin and make plunny clones if you wanted to start over
how old are those plants?

alright heres everything.... started them on 5/25, flowered them beginning 8/9 and they started showing sex (both females!) on 8/22. i have two eco-lite grow bulbs from home depot, paud like 10 bucks for each and i dont know anything about them. theyre supposed to be for plant growth so i figured it would be sufficient. i water them about twice a week ( i know, but theyre soil stays moist for 3 - 4 days). i bought miracle grow moisture control soil. says it has 3 months fertilizer in it. i transplanted them on 7/3 into half new soil and half of the rest that i had left from when i started them so im not sure if i should use ferts or not. when they got the new soil, they get 3 months of fertilizer in it so i dont want to screw anything up. thats about it. i appreciate the help.
p.s. they could either be white widow(more indica) or super haze (more sativa) but theu have really thick leaves so i think theyre the widow but the kid swears he gave me haze seeds. he only had widow and haze seeds so i think he mixed them up
thanks
