Best kind of lighter

Hi there. I am a new member of the site and a pretty new smoker, i've only been smoking about a month but I love it and I really like this site where there are a lot of others like myself. Anyway, I was just wondering what you all liked best for lighting your pot with (either a bowl or just for lighting a J), I normally just use a bic cheapy lighter, but I find it ends up going out a lot (since I have to smoke outside and it's winter) I have heard about blowtourch lighters I don't really know where to buy them or how much they cost though, and also I think zippos are cool are they any good for gettin lit up? anyway thanks for the help if you can give me any.

for outside id recommend a crack torch(butane lighter) or just put the bowl inside your jacket and stick your head in there too and light it :memories:: They sell butanes at gas stations,flea markets,head shops etc.But i love bics,last forever.Zippos are horrible for smoking bud.

yea, just stick with the cheap bics. they last for a long ass time and they do the job as good as anything else. theres no need to spend extra money on a torch lighter because you dont need to torch the weed and waste it. the only time i use my torch lighter is for salvia. peace

well lets see....i wouldn't use a torch lighter for lighting anything other than large blunts.....i use bic....best damn lighter ever....only problem is trying to guess whether you got enough fuel left or not....that's why i carry two of htem on me at all times.....(a good stoner always has a lighter.)

Clipper lighters work a treat. And cos they're round, you can use the bottom off them to put the bowl out in a hurry if you need to!

Anyone know how to refill them, I've got like 100 under my bed!

Whats a PDT? If they are refillable, then there will be a small nipple-looking port on the bottom (typically) which interfaces with off-the-shelf cans of butane...

Use a BIC man, they are realiable and have easy to break off child proof shits on 'em.

On a side note, I just picked up a fresh Ned Flanders lighter.

Everybody loves Bic's but I'm telling you, my crickets always come through when my buddy's bic fails. We are crazy bastards though and will sit outside in the woods for hours at a time toking, regardless of the weather :)

Its just a different brand a lighter. Slightly different appearence tha a bic, functions teh same way, but doesnt get blown out as easily...

and crickets dont have a child-proof peice of shit on the thing i personally have a crack lighter, ones where u can adjust the flames for those winter days (ilive in ohio its cold) and i can get the flame to about 9 inches, but tahts stupid and wastes fluid, but its also clear so i can see if im due for another one...I'd go for a cricket, bics have small flames and cant cover the whole bowl, just annoying to move ur hand in circles when u first light a bowl

I actually try to save greens as I toke... You should be able to get three hits with some green out of my glass piece, just gotta know how to spark it right :p

yeah I live in ohio too, I was smokin a little bit in my car outside with the window down, and the breeze kept blowing out the flame, so I think I might try a cricket, If I can find one.

I live i Michigan, and its usually windy as a bitch, so BIC's just dont do it for me unless i want to bake out my parents car, so i like my $50 butane, i turn down the flame all the way, and it doesnt waste any more weed than a BIC and it never gets blown out, but it is expensive.

It seems like no matter where you go, bic is the best. I don't know if it's the same in other parts of the USA, but the bics here have a guard on it that makes it painful after a while to light it, so I usually use a fork to bend the metal that keeps the guard over the flint and remove it. My favorite lighter is this little mini lighter holder. It's small to carry everywhere and has a special grip with non-slip coating. I can keep reloading it with mini bics

dude a bic don't have to have a child proof thing either (assuming we're talking about the same thing: the metal band that goes over the spark wheel) you just find something and pry it off....any child proof lighter can be un child proofed somehow....i haven't used a child proof lighter since i was like 7 (from the ages of 5 until 7 i had a zippo) i got durable knife can be used to take off almost any child proofing.....just watch out cuz one time when i was taking it off it shot me in the eye and it turned red as shit....it hurt too...

Stick with the bic,

However if you're smoking a large joint/blunt, or if you're smoking Salvia Divinorum (Heated at high temps.) use a butane torch. I wouldn't use it too much with the bowl, might burn too much of the weed at that high temperature.

yeah those big ass bbq lighters are fine but that's the problem, they are huge, don't exactly fit in my pocket real comfortably :/. But anyway, I guess I never thought bout taking the child proofing off the bic, cause I hate that, but other than that bics are sweet. I just might need a cricket for smoking outside, cause like I said, it blows out sometimes. thanks a lot for the responses guys, time to go smoke!

I used to be a diehard cricket user but then I started using biccies instead, the crickets are kinda small and I think the bic fits my hand better. Just don't get one of those "electronic" bics. They are fine for a j, but you'll get so pissed trying to spark a bowl with one of those.

i always use BIC bitch. either fucking green, red, black (not dark gray, there is a rare black one) too many people have orange ones...you can get confused. yellow ones are pretty rare....and nobody will mix it up. light blue ones just dont do it for me....they just have always seemed a little bit weaker than the other ones. white is bad luck. (they also have a off-white cream color kinda one....its not bad luck.) its kinda weird but i can say that i ahve actually been caught with a white lighter on me lots of times.....yeah weird.
