Wow... that's crazy shit. Imagine falling in and sitting on a bed of mosquitos while spiders crawl all over you.

I reaaaaly, hate spiders. I mean shit... its a freakin spider. It was the one thing I am really afraid of. Even though I know I can crush them instantly, I still hate them. I hate when I walk through a spider web, and feel like there is a spider crawling on my for hours, slowly biting me, trying to drink my insides, and leaving itchy bumps that drive me crazy for hours. But they do help killing mosquitoes, and I really hate mosquitoes...

I hate mosquitoes a lot worse than spiders. This big bunch of cooperating, Web-interlocking spiders is dong a huge public service at Lake Tawakoni. This was on the news tonight here. We live pretty close to that area.

spiders are pretty cool man.. i love 'em... used to keep 'em as pets :p

but if you have a phobia i guess there's nothing you can really do about it.. but i wouldn't be embarrased... my phobia, is roaches...i have far more to be embarrased over...... god they turn me into a little school girl, even give me panic attacks just seeing 'em (full grown ones, the babies don't bother me)

What is the point of mozzies and things like wasps? Are they just hear to sting the shit out of us when we're little and to spread malaria? They dont help us in the slightest. Same with bluebottles. Bee's at least give us honey - what do ants do? Eh? There's tons of things that we dont need on this earth.

That's pretty amazing.
I don't mind spiders in the least, HATE mosquitoes, and am generally fascinated by non-human 'engineering'.
That's a fabulous example, and I'd like to see it in person!

What is the point of humans? Are they just here to destroy the environment and spread disease? They don't help the planet in the slightest. Cats at least keep the rodent population in check-- what do people do? Eh? There's tons of things that we don't need on this earth. :)

Remember, mother nature has a way of filling every niche. Plants need pollination, so insects appeared (evolution-wise). Hundreds of different kinds of insects, each doing its own thing. If it weren't for mosquitos, certain types of plants wouldn't get pollinated, and they'd cease to exist. Without mosquitos, the spiders would starve. Without spiders, birds that eat spiders would starve. Without birds, predators would starve. etc etc etc... You'd think that someone on canna.com would understand the great web of life :rasta:

we keep the cow/chicken/pig population in check by eating them...

i'll still tell you the same thing everyone else that's thought the human race should be exterminated (not sure if that's where you're going but it's awfully close to their arguments) you first, i'll follow.... i promise ;)

Are you gonna go see that thing? If I lived near, I'd sure check it out just because.
Those webs are strong and have some good medical uses too.
In the field when a solider is wounded, a web stuffed in the wound helps, kinda like a mesh.
I'm not crazy about spiders but their webs are pretty cool.

ohhh good story! Around here we have these huuuge spiders that are black with a yellow middle, they weave really big webs and just kinda sit there in the middle. So anyways, I was just watching one as I gardened and as I watched, that big ole spider trapped a hornet in it's web. Sucked that thing dry. It was gross but amazing to watch.
This year, I've avoided those things.:wtf:
