download a torrent program like bit torrent. Then go to a torrent search engine and search for whatever you want to download, click on "download torrent" or whatever link is necessary to activate download, and that's it. torrents are normally large collections or whole cd's, like all 30some korn albums- 500+songs in 1 file.

Isohunt is probably your best site to find torrents. When it comes to music, movies, and television, aXXo is the fastest. Axxo is a server that hosts many files, and the file name will say "aXXo" at the end. I'm not sure which torrent downloading program to recommend, but I have Bitlord and while the interface is great, it slows down IE or Mozilla really bad.

limewire, blubster and bitlord...and as far as musicians making money...let me see here, yeah they spend alot to make their cds, but there are plenty of ppl who do buy their cds so their making money there...most already successful bands have guaranteed money from their label...and are u aware of the money these bands/musicians make per concert and per television appearance...

what about all the money people spend buying $12 cds and $15 dvds or $7 movie tickets and they get home and theres 1 song they like or the cd just sucks all together or they go to the movies and the movie sucks there people behind you that wont shut up.i see it as retribution for all the crappy material thats come out.

so if you cant afford you shouldnt beable to view, hear, ect, those rich men are greedy. FREE DOWNLOADS IS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT, BECAUSE IF THE ARTIST IS GOOD MOST PEOPLE GENERALLY BUY THEIR PRODUCTS

LIMEWIRE IS FULL OF VIRUSES(and any other client like it)

anyone can use torrents free, and i have never seen anyone get blocked from them
as i said torrents are for mainly software, tv shows, and some movies, but you can just about find anything you are looking for

SOULSEEK(the older version 156c) is the best i have ever seen for music. you can download whole cd with 1 click, and i have never seen a virus on any download i have seen or heard of

Soulseek. hands down. Why download songs when you can get albums???
Torrents are good if your a member of OiNK or Demonoid or something similar but alot of the free torrent sites are pretty lame. Then again it also matters what kind of music your looking for. You wont find alot of underground music on the public torrent sites & limewire.

As for the moral issue of downloading music. If your music is good i will see you next time your in nyc, you can get your money then.

listen to metaphor

but i just ran across this about torrents,

Torrentspy Acts to Protect Privacy

Sorry, but because you are located in the USA you cannot use the search features of the Torrentspy.com website.Torrentspy's decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court but rather an uncertain legal climate in the US regarding user privacy and an apparent tension between US and European Union privacy laws.

We hope you understand and will take the opportunity to visit one of these other fine websites:

but you could prob just use a isp hider
good luck

Wherever you download from, use Peerguardian. It stops the RIAA and MPAA from being able to connect to you.
Phoenix Labs ยป PeerGuardian 2 (http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/)

RIAA and MPAA are very big at my college. My friend download 1 movie and got a notice of copyright infringement. I downloaded shit all year, but they never found me cuz of the sweet Peerguardian.

I'm with you on this one.. However, (yes, hypocritical, I know) I do download music online. The only reason being that I don't have any money. If I did, I would buy the CD to every song I own. Artists spend a lot of time, a lot of money, and a fuckload of hard work writing and performing those songs. If it wasn't so diversified, and was more like how it was in the 60s and 70s (when artists like AC/DC, the beatles, and the rolling stones were loaded out of their fucking minds because everybody loved them) and nobody stole artists' music, and the record companies and radio stations trying to even things out. There wasn't always a radio station for what you wanted to listen to. Bands from the 60s and 70s are famous and will always be remembered.. Pink Floyd, Chili Peppers, etc.. But who's gonna remember all the bands we have today? Nobody, we have too many, and none stand out, and none are overly rich or famous (because of the radio/record companies, etc). What's the world come to?

Edit: Ok, I apologize for anything that didn't make any sense. I'm really baked and went off on a rant.

Uhh....yeah....gonna have to disagree to the max on this one.

Lol, first off, the Chili Peppers weren't from the 60/70s but I'm sure that was just an oversight.

Anyways, there are plenty of bands that stand out man. To say otherwise is a far cry from the truth. It all depends on what you listen to. There may not be bands with that HUGE status in the pop culture world like they did back then, but to be honest, that's a good thing.

For instance, most of the Doors fans were nothing but mindless followers looking for the next big "thing" to tell them what to do. Jim Morrison grew increasingly irritated at the fact that he could do anything and everything, good or bad, and the crowd would still worship him, or rather his body versus his words. Thus the infamous "indecent exposure" incident that happened down in Florida. He was showing them he could do anything, including showing his dick, and they'd eat it up. He was mocking them and most didn't even realize it LOL. I'm kind of glad there aren't so many people like that today, who just follow from fad to fad versus actually listen to the message.

I know for a fact bands like Widespread Panic and the String Cheese Incident are very well off as they've dominated the jam scene for years and years. I think for them, however, it's not all about the money. It's about the Spread heads and the love, which is probably why I'm drawn to the jam scene more so than any other genre. I tend not to see too many posers at shows, which is a good thing haha. While they're at a substance-free Dave Matthews show, I'm actually watching gooooood music.

So, to sum up my entirely too long of a post: it's all in what you listen to. I'd say browse around if you think there's nothing good out today. It's honestly a hell of a lot better than back in the 70s. That's for damn sure.

plants right...people on here and everywhere who have heard nothing but their local classic rock stations which they in turn compare to their local top 40 hits station really really really need to shoot themselves every time they throw this entire generation of musicians under the bus. i have said it before and will now say it again. there are musicians in every genre going right now that are timeless and great and can be compared to the all time greats. you get into who is better or worse and you start missing the point of great music, but i will say i have heard people across the board in music today that can step to any of the heavy hitters from the 70s. not to take anything away from the artists of that decade, they were great, but it is time you all stop taking away from the ones of this decade. difference is you have to look. if you are over 10 years old and havent yet realized that to find the good new music you h ave to actively look for it in places outside of mtv and terrestrial radio, you might as well give up on music all together. and in effect, that is what you have already done when you just listen to stairway to heaven or comfortably numb for the thousandth time and tell yourself you have it all figured out.

and the thing about downloading as that is the topic. the really really good musicians who arent well known i will pay for their official albums and tickets to live shows. then download live songs. millionare good bands that already have money ill download songs, know that it is technically stealing and not care. and the assumption that no musician today is wealthy is ludicrous. garth brooks has outsold every single band from the seventies, and he is from this generation. there is an example of someone i would download(in fact i did downoad friends in low places a few years back) i am not callin him great, i am simply stating a fact, and him making money isnt an exception. many people hit it really big in music today whether they deserve it or not.
