View Full Version : Activating a joint

Ok I have read up on all the threads involving activating weed. The process I read about involved wrapping a nug big enough for a smoke session in foil and baking. So what would happen if you double wrapped a joint (crimped the edges, and all the other involved steps) and baked it? Would it be teh same effect?

I dont know much about it except from the numerous posts ive read on these boards. But from what i understand, your just supposed to heat up the bud before you roll it or it wont work as efficiently.
If youve got a joint in the oven, even if its covered in a pocket of foil, surely the paper would burn or something.

I wouldn't put a pre-rolled joint in the oven, doesn't like a good idea really does it?

The lighter has more than sufficient temperature to 'activate' the THC for your body to absorb it... An oven is definately not necessary- if temperatures get too high in the oven, it could begin to burn your joint and release the THC, which of course would NOT be more suitable for smoking.
Ovens are for brownies, not plain joints...

lol activating a joint by baking the weed before rolling into a joint? no offence at all matey but that has got to be the biggest load of crap ive ever heard lol , for one heat degrades thc,its only because when we smoke it the thc mainly gets instantly vapourised that it works at all,
If we think of this logically - Heating the weed in the oven is exactly the same as putting a lighter to it. As soon as it burns, it's obviously been heated - so why the oven? I dont buy into it at all. Maybe it works, maybe it's bullshit. Maybe people think it works because they want it to. As far as im concerned - bullshit, but i could very well be wrong. I just dont care.

And again and again... but i will explain again:
Heating lightly the weed for a reasonable amount of time (the recipes for activating weed say some minutes at the oven) WILL convert the THCa to THC, increasing the potency of the weed. Its plain chemistry.
But if you just light the joint and smoke it, the heat of the burning weed its TOO HOT, and burns some THC. Also, the time of heating is too short, so there is not time enought for the THCa to be completly transformed to THC.
Lip, Chisme, and all non-believers, why dont you try doing it before flaming? You have nothing to lose (at worst one joint), and everything to win (a wayyy higher high)...

You understand the concept of heating the bud at the right temperature at the right time in order to ''activeate" the weed, or increase its potency. Maybe you can understand my question. If i perform the same steps in activating a bud, but use an already rolled joint, will it work?

I've personally placed a pre (double) rolled jay in the microwave for about 30 seconds with the paper lightly moistened. The end result was a dry and potent ass joint. I got higher than I have ever been before in my life off of just a single one gram joint that was activated.:stoned::stoned::stoned:

Buuullll... Here is the PROPER way to smoke a joint...
1. Break up weed
2. Roll up joint
3. Light joint
4. Smoke joint
Pretty simple if you think about it. :smokin:

In theory, yes. But there is a lot of practical problems... If you heat the rolled joint in the oven, the rolling paper may catch fire...
Once i put a rolled joint in the microwave, and the rolling paper started to release a lot of smoke... so, for avoiding this problems, it would be wiser to activate the weed before rolling the j.
Ok then - i'll try it. But im going to be pissed off if it IS aload of bullshit. Maybe i will be proved wrong, but i'm not expecting to be.
I'll do it tonight and post back.

I've actually had weed before that was still a little wet and put it in the microwave as well as the oven to dry it out.I never knew about this "activating",I was just trying to dry my bud out to smoke.Well I did get really stoned but I figured it was just some really good bud.
So I tell a couple of my buddies about how I dried it out to smoke since they were having some problems smoking theirs.Stuff just wouldn't stay lit and burn right. They were like that takes the potency away, your burning up all the THC.I never thought much more of it and figured they were right.
Then after another harvest I have the same problem. So I decide to do some research and look up this theory of THC being burned away by using a microwave to dry it.Well I came across a couple sights and they were saying yes it's possible to over heat your bud and take it's potency away by destroying THC levels. However you could "activate" your bud by heating it to a certain temperature for a better high.So once again I put some buds on a paper towel and place them in the microwave.Again I felt a great high off of it.So maybe it's not just the weed being good, you really can activate a joint.I mean everytime I've dried bud out using a microwave or oven I experience a great high.So after thinking about it and reading the science here yes you can activate a joint and it is a better, more intense high I think.
I'm not going to go out of my way to do this with all my weed, but if it needs to be dried more no doubt I will.I'm always ready to smoke my weed right away.I just break it down, roll it up,light it and activate my mind.
just blaze that shit man:rastasmoke:

It really isnt that hard of a damn proccess, for those who are saying why not just smoke it.
Are you telling me you wouldnt want to have weed that got you higher then normal, for all of around 30 seconds of waiting before being able to smoke it?
Just give it a try, if it doesnt work for you, then you can come back to the boards and mock the hell out of the rest of us. If it does work though, then you can get higher then you would normally off the same weed, and thats just kickass.
I was skeptical about it. However, after reading a few different threads about activating weed, curiosity got the better of me. I wrapped enough for a bowl in a napkin and put in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Took it out and smoked it immediately. It works. One bowl feels like an entire joint.

Question for anyone who's tried this:
How long should I microwave it for? Will 15-20 seconds be too much for it?
Also, does it affect the smoke in anyway? Will it be smoother/rougher than normal?

25 seconds for 1-3 bowls worth of weed.
You will get more smoke from your hits, as the weed is a bit drier, and I personally think the hits are a bit smoother, simply because they feel the same as before, but I am taking in alot more smoke.

Yes! Simple yet effective.

Why dont you take the time to understand the process before making comments?
I donā??t get it, there may be a way to increase the THC in weed yet people decide not to try it and instead just write if off as some stupid idea. Unlike holding in hits there is actual evidence to back this up.

Well... now we can understand how Galileo (who suggested that was the earth which revolved around the sun, instead the sun around the earth) must have felt... He almost were burned alive by the inquisition, because what he was saying was an absurd, a "heresy"...

Why not take the heating to it's logical conclusion. Put it in a Valcano vaporizer.

Even us "open-minded potheads" can get religious about the whole thing.

I see... but what amazes me is that many of the "religious" oppositioners of this method claim themselves as being skeptical, rational, followers of the science. But they refuse to do the experiment, which is the very foundation of the science.
How contradictory...
