:wtf:
Are they moms or they being grown for bud these past 6 months? You gave very little info so I'm just guessing. What's the temp in there?
1200 watts? Where? Dude, you probably don't even have 200 watts in that room. Sorry to dissapoint you,
but you should read or ask questions before you start growing!

that tiny fan isn't going to cut it when it comes to proper ventilation....you need more serious airflow in a space that big

They were females a friend was neglecting out in the woods. He'd just stuck them in a bag of potting soil and let them grow.I'm sure they've got bugs so I'll be spraying them with neem oil or hydrogen peroxide in a week if they perk up.
I've got 12 34 watt (100 watt rated) cfls. That where I came up with the 1200 watt total.
I've just got the one fan for now. There is a low ventilation port.you can see it in the 4th picture.I've got 2 exhaust vents in the ceiling.Temp is only 75 degrees.I've got access to 1000w hps.I just wanted to see how they do with the cfl's.

use the hps and make sure the temps dont get otta hand then go to your local hydroponic store and pick up a bag or two or three or however many you nead of fox farms ocean forest organic soil and you wont have to give them any ferts well you may have too being of how bad they look

These isn't how I wanted to start my grow.I had some NL clones I was supposed to get in a couple months.I thought I'd give these sick babies a shot.I'll bug bomb the place when I'm done with these.I wanted to try and stay organic as much as possible.

The humidity is a big factor when trying to bring the little guys back to life. Do you have a humidity gage? If not get one, they are cheap and come in handy. You want it to be around 60% if you want them to come out of shock! Also go and get the foxfarm soil, its the shit!!! laterz..

08-30-2007, 08:09 PM
Also if you do use fish emulsion, make sure you slush the hell out of it. You will be able to tase it in your buds if you dont. nasty shit, trust me!!!

No humidity guage yet.I'll pick one up.I'll flush the plants real well the last 2 weeks to hopefully get rid of the fish stank.I've also got some Miracid Pro Select is it any good?

I dont know, its not ideal, but it not gonna kill it either so....... I know one thing though, when looking for a good N source its good for it to be chelated rather than non-chelated. The plant does not have to break it down as much when the N is chelated. (this goes for all nutes by the way) Note to self, when it says N source is from urea, thats urine dude....... :)

Sorry for exaggerating that you had only 200watts, but still, you only have 1/3 of what you thought (1200). And I think the lights are still your biggest problem. For a 34w bulb, they are way too far away from the plants. Those bulbs can be kept like 2 or 3 inches from the plants without harming them. You need to get the lights closer to them. Do you want to add fish emulsion so you can keep vegging them? If so, it will work fine. I was thinking that since they are 6 months old you should just start feeding them flower nutes and switch the lights to 12/12. They will continue to get bigger as they flower. Good Luck!
And if the soil is heavy, let them dry out before you water!

And it is NOT recommened to use the cool bulbs you have for the flowering stage. They are good for vegging. Peace!

Well im back, you should post some more pics and tell us everything you have like supplies type of soil temps humidity and anything else you can think of telling us.Looks like your of to a good start if you have not visited your local hydroponic store right now is a good time to start there are tons of organic ferts you can use that your plant will love.I would go out and buy fox farms ocean forest mix it might be alittle bit more money than the average soil from wally world but its about 10x better also.I dont give them anything but water till i start the flowering stage some people might say its dumb but i found with fox farms you dont need to.fox farm has a whole line of organic ferts and nutes that your plants will just love.Superthrive hands down is my favorite you can feed with it or put a tespoon in every 5 gallons i dont know if thats the coorect dosage but i found thats what works best for me and my ladies.Well good luck and safe growing ill be checking on this thread prob everyday so keep the questions coming and ill try and answer as many of them as i can.Remember im no pro at this but i may still can help

I don't have any decent hydroponics stores in the area.I have a 1000w hps but I thought I would try the cfl's on these poor plants to see how they did.I've got them on 12/12 they are already starting to flower.
I will take some clones off the most hardy plant.I'm supposed to have some better clones to start off a new grow in 2 months.
I'm just trying to baby them for the first week or so to get them back haflway healthy.I'll post some more pics tomorrow.

Keep in mind that you have about 400 watts spread all over the place. I don't think you will get much bud with that light setup. With that amount of plants, I would put that 1k HPS to use for flowering. But keep in mind, that if you use the hps, you'll need to be prepared to address the heat issue that will come with it!

Bought a temp humidity guage today. Its running 44% humidity at 85 degrees during the light cycle.

I'm gonna just stick with the cfl's for the entire grow on this one.My next grow I may fire up the HPS.
I was concerned about power usage.I replaced all my house lights with cfl's and even with grow going on 12/12 my electricity bill went down about $8 this month.

About 6 weeks into flowering.Straight water now. Maybe 2 more weeks till harvest. They didn't grow very tall.I've got a couple clones of a strain called hurk.Never heard of it before but it really seems to be budding like crazy.

Considering what horrible shape they were in when you got them, you really did an excellent job pulling them back from the brink. You'll have to let us know what the smoke quality is like once you've harvested and cured those girls.

Start of harvest. These are off 3 of the smaller plants. The rest look to be ready in about a week.
About 63 grams here so far. These Big Buds are sure sticky.:)

Nicely done!
If you had used that HPS and could have kept the heat down, you would have been easily looking at 100grams+ with those BBs.
You should have also cloned a few.

I'm thinking about a t5 grow next.I've found 2 4 foot 4 bulb setups that come with 16 bulbs,8 flower and 8 veg for about $310.I have 2 other strains that i'm growing under my cfl's right now that seem to be doing really good.

Killerweed,
Great job on recovering the them Big Buds,
Looks like your sold on florecents, for a closet grow that is probably the way to go.
If you have or can get good ventelation in there, HID lighting is the way to go, Like ESP13 said you would have increased your yeild significantly.
You can get a 600w digital ballast that will take both MH and HPS bulbs, both bulbs included ,with retractable hangers, and reflector for $316.00 shipping included. At htgsupply.com
They might even have a better price on the light system you are looking to buy.
Great prices and pretty much one stop shopping for any and all your needs.

htg is where I found the t5 setup.I'm just trying to be cheap by keeping the electricity costs down.I only pay about $50 a month ever since I bought my place years ago. Also the t5 bulbs are supposed to last a long time and the intensity doesn't fade as the get old like hps's do. I'm still thunking it over.I have a guy who would trade me 2 400w hps for one 600w hps.2 400w would fit very nice in this room.

I understand where you are comming from on costs.
After reading alot I determind that it was worth going with HID lighting. pros: Very large increase in lummins = bigger harvest
cons: Heat, increase cost in electricity
But if you do the math the average cost of a killowatt hour is $0.08 lets say you run 2- 400w HPS lamps that is 800watts that = .8 killowatt hours per hour. that = $0.07 per hour the light is on so a 4 week veg at 18/6 will cost $37.80 the cost of the 8 week flower cycle at 12/12 will be $50.40 for a total of $88.20 for the entire grow cycle.
Now consider your increase in yeild. That will cover that cost without any problems.
Next if you are worried about big brother focusing in on you due to your increase of elec. This is less than if you plugged in a space heater, a space heater draws around 1500w. It is when someone decides to put in a greenhouse with say 6- 1000w lights is when big brother starts to wonder what is going on.
hope this is helpfull with your decision or any one else for that matter.

Yeah I'm still debating going with the 2 400w hps's. I still might try the 2 t5's just to see how they put out. I plan on staying with the smaller plants. Maybe keep them about 3 or 4 feet tall.I've got room to go higher but these breed really grows outwards a lot.A friend has a 5 foot of this that is 5 feet in diameter.
