Need advice

hi, im new to these boards, but i have posted on the general boards many times.Im starting to grow, i pretty knowledge in how to grow it, but im not grow large amounts probably 1 or 2 plants, was just wondeing what kind of light wold be good. Would a HPS 400w, be good for 2 plants for should i have something else? I really looking foward to it, but the lighting is something im not really sure on. Im growing it in my closet. Its about 12 feet tall, and 3-3.5feet wide. I really need advice. Thanks,

400W HPS would do great, but a 250W HPS would save you some $$$ on electricity, and the cost of the light, and a 250 will also work well for 2 plants, the 400 might be overkill, but that's just my opinion...

nah get the 400w hps going if you can,an insted of 2 plant's grow 4,sound's to me like you got enough room.as your new to growin the more plant's you have the better the chance you'll end up with some smoke at the end,an why waste the eletric on 2 when it'll do 4!!don't over do the fert's(common newbie mistake)whatever the dose it say's to feed on the pack cut it in half,it's easy to add a little more feed than to try an flush the feed out after over doing it!!until u start to get a feel of how much they need that is..anyway good luck an happy growing..love an respect..spliffbuilder.

hi i have a problem i was growing some plants thay got to about 18 in high and then stoped all the leaves went dropy and still are did not do any thing for two weeks then i found out my hp meter was broke iv got the ph to 5.8 will the plants come back or do i need to start again if they will come back how long

if your growing in soil the ph want's to be 7,get some ph up and they should start perking up in a week or so.....spliffbuilder.

If you're sure you only want to grow 2 plants 250w is enough, but spliff is right if you have the room 400w is the way to go and fill that closet up!!! :D

ummm, the better the light the better the bud, HPS is a high pressure sodium great for flowering stage. i wouldent personally go lower then 400 watts. i use a 600 watt silver light wing HPS and im growing 2 plants. im gonna buy myler and thats 95% reflective (on light its special and dont reflect heat) rewmember dude, no matter what these guys tell you, its ur 1st time, theres a good chance u will fuck up and theres a 25% chance ur gonna quit coz of fuck ups. dont spend too much cash if u think u may jump out dude. stick with 400watts, coz if u do grow a good 2 plants i can promise ur gonna grow 8 next time, u can grow 8 under 400 watts easy, 12 pushing it. keep posted dude, i dont read these forums much coz u have a lot of wannabe growers giving advice and they can fuck up ur grow. try and find some 1 to add on MSN, some 1 that aint stupid.

Don't let him scare you off, its as easy as you want to make it. Just stay away from the usual first time probs like over fertilizing, and take your time and yes you can save some money by going to wally world, but if you want the best chances for success go with a fert formulated for what your growing and a good soil (ocean forest or fox farm) if thats what you're using from a hydro shop.
I'd go with the 400watt because like spliff said you'll likely grow more next time and a 400w light isn't significantly more expensive than a 250, but for 2 plants 600 is overkill.

we are all here to tell of our experiences,what will work and what will not,i started with a 75w hps,then a 250 then a 400 an then a 600w hps.just tryin' to save the dude some money,cause when growin' fever take's hold'a you,there ain't shit you can do about it boy!!!!!! :D :D an i ain't no newbie 5 year's under my belt nearly,an i made enough mistake's to share with everyone!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool: if you don't make mistake's god dam it you ain't tryin' hard enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....spliffbuilder...lol. :cool:

is anything lower than 250w hps gonna be worth a shit? I got a tiny-arse space and wondering if a 75 or 100 is still better than fluoros (only growin 1 or 2)

Amen to that, I'm in total agreement get as big a light as you think you'll ever use. I meant that if he's growing in a small cabinet like me heat can be a concern. :D :D NO FALLS NO BALLS!!!!!
