Well here are two clones that I just did. I did the FIM on them They are 23 days old. Very small when I cloned them from the mother plants

The girls are 23 days old. No ferts or anything. I do not believe in that until they are 30 days old. Too many fertilizer problems. I really believe lots of roots before ferts. One plant is an afghan and the other is a 'juicy fruit'.
I just, hopefully did a 'FIM' cut on the two of them. We will see. The pictures are after the 'FIM' trim

I think picture #2 is the best. Any experts out there, I am open to suggestions and criticism on this. I want these two to be really nice plants. Thanks Dr. Bloor

Thanks so much for the thread, Dr. Bloor. I've been anxious to see some good photo documentation of the FIM process. I've had serious difficulty finding good photos online. They are scattered and incomplete. It would be awesome if you could get your hands on a tripod and take some good close-ups using a macro filter.
I've only known about the FIM technique for a matter of a week, but I think its high time that somebody make a good thorough FIM Tek thread with lots of good detailed photos that left the reader feeling like they knew the technique like the back of their hand.

Well: Hopefully this will work out. These clones are so small I had a helluva time doing it, hell I may not have even done it! Time will tell. I will post more pictures as the plants progress. Dr.Bloor

FIM is an acronym for a pruning technique. It is a way to reach into a plant in an effort to top it. Prune off the top bud. If you prune off or cut off the top bud, you should get two more.
FIM is when you reach in to the top bud and just snip off the top quarter to one half or so. Some say maybe 3/4 or so of the bud. I really was stretching I think to do it do these little guys. The pictures kind of show were I was going with the scissors. Open it up and get right down to the bud.
Looking at the plants with a magnifier it seems to be working.

Oh yes FIM. Lots of stories about that. Urban legend. The best one is it was someone topping a plant missed and said 'F*** I missed' Urban legend. Then the plants grew lots of nice tops.

how do you do this??? is the soil dry or is that vermiculite?? do you use the humidor tent things ?? do you use a powder or a gel cloning stuff? Do you water at all or spray the leeves? Are those pots or plate like potters? they look realy good very impresive.

Do you mean the clones?

The clones were clipped off the mother plant. I cut what i want off the mother plant and then put them under water where I make a 45 degree cut on the stem with a new razor. Then dip them in 'Clonex" and then put them in rockwool which I have soaked in distilled water. I just poke a small hole in the rockwool, enough to accept the stem I am inserting.
Then I use Lettuce containers from Costco, after I have eaten the lettuce of course. They make a nice little greenhouse. Flip the top over on them and it is perfect. Mist them with distilled water, keep them in shaded light. I have a nice room with a skylight

Mist them often with the distilled water. Wait for their leaves to perk up. Misting always, Start removing the top of the container to start hardening them up for the real world. It works for me! Then I transplant into a small pot and then to a 6-8 pot. These girls are 23 days old. I have given them no ferts yet. I always give them 30 days before I start to very gently feed them, by that I mean cut in half and the cut in half again whatever your fert says you should feed them. The Juicy fruit has roots everywhere but. They are very tender and easily burned by ferts.

I do not think you should push clones! I will post some pictures of Clones that I have that are kinda interesting. I did not FIM those girls though. It is interesting how they are growing

Hope this helps. I did notice that when I trimmed the girls that growth did slow down quite a lot.

Its a commercial potting soil that has vermiculite in it. I like to let the soil dry out between waterings. Stress the plant out and make it get busy wanting to reproduce!

Here are the latest pictures of the Afghan & Juicy fruit clones FIM. I have no idea if this is going to work. When I trimmed them the growth really did slow down and then took off again! You can see all the pistals shooting up. That is really not what I was looking for. I can see some other small growth under the pistals. Proablt what I want to see?

Looks great! The FIM works great for spreading out a plant instead of growing it straight up. They do slow at first but after a week or so they should blow up into growth. It works great to bush out a plant to make clones. Beautiful plants bro!
