I got a call tonight. A friend of a friend lost power. Dumbass had some nice plants and lucky enough I was home. So I broke my rule of never taking in plants from another garden.

I was hooked by a healthy Kona Gold from the islands. It came from a huge bud back in 1985 and the guy was able to germinate it and low and behold, I am now the proud god mother of a antique strain.

I also got a nice strong WW and a Durban Poison male that I can't bear to kill.

So anyway should I germinate an afghani #1 and use that to give it a bit of vigor since the Kona is getting a bit weak the guy said, or should I hermie it? I've never tried to keep a strain around that I didn't have a male to make more seeds.

So anyway what would you do with an antique strain that falls in your lap?

Yeah I've had about 2 years growing now and I guess it is time to get into genetics and a bit deeper. So I hope what I've wrote made sense, I smoked a bit of pineapple starfruit and pineapple nl. Damn good smoke!

depends what he pollinated it with, really ... if he kept the strain pure, you have a real 'keeper' there ... if not, you may have a very nice hybrid instead ... grow it, smoke it, then you know if ya got something special ... :S5:

I believe he said it was femenized. So if that is the case then I'm wondering about the possibility of hermie probs.

And if it is femenized how do I preserve it without having to make it hermie to pollinate it for seeds. That is where I'm worried that the breakdown will occure. I want to keep it vigirous, but I don't want to sully the strain if it is really Kona Gold.

Anyway somehow I trust this guy for what he says. I don't think he is bullshitting me.

So here are the pics today. The Kona is in the green round pot and the WW is in the square terracotta color.

I wasn't sure if anyone has seen the leaf pattern of the Kona and could give me an opinion for authenticity.

So anyway no matter what happens I got to take in some gorgous plants.

Hugs and happy tokes!

Looks good to me man, I would def hold on to that for breeding purposes. You never know what old school bad ass genetics you could unlock. I think you should run multiple breeding projects with it to see what you can get out of her. But for the time being take clones, gow it, smoke it, and find out what your working with. You know, what traits you want to keep, and which ones you want to improve on. Good luck laterz..

Back in the '70s, I saved some seeds thinking that I might want to grow someday. If I'm going to the effort of growing, I want some better results than the antique stuff, but I still have the old seeds. Do they have value?

ROFLMAO - Your plant has a trunk like a friggin tree and you're worried about it being vigorous enough? :wtf: We should all have such problems.

BTW - The WWs love to be topped!
