Whether it's a volcano or a lightbulb, post what vape you have.
I have a lightbulb vape I made a while ago, it's good and all but I'm getting myself a professionally made one sometime in the near future, not sure on which yet.
Edit: Woot! first thread in a new forum.

I have none at the moment lol. And I would buy one, but nice glass pieces are just too tempting for my bitch ass to resist. I will probably make a lightbulb vape sometime soon though just to start conserving weed. But I have used vapes plenty of times, professional and homemade.

I have a vaporbox which is basically a knock-off of a vapor brothers except with a ceramic heater. Its so much more consistent when it comes to adjusting the heat you want. It actually starts at zero or close to it on the left most and hottest on the right most setting. The vapor brothers I have used really only starts to get hot after you pass the middle (pointing straight up on the knob) and its hard to keep it where you want it.

My good friend has a Volcano Vaporizer and I use it all the time. The whole this is great. He has the solid valve. You just turn the knob somewhere between 3 and 5 and let it heat up. Once it's heated up then fill the bag with air and inhale. Works great every time no smell as long as you don't let too much air out in the beginning. I vaped in my room at home and got no comments about the smell.

I got the Vapir One its cool but I dont even use it anymore. Oh and just a recommendation dot get the Vapir they are built like a straw house. I feel like Im gonna break that thing every time I vap, and I hear they have alot of heater problems eventhough I have not run into problems with mine, but then I hardly use it any more.

I got a volcano last year and swear by it! The machine really has no down side except for the initial cost. The thing is like industrial. Very good construction. Factory warranty, local help if anything does happen. In Oakland Ca. I think
It would be a real money saver if you are buying bud that is for sure. You use much less product than in a pipe or bong.
There is zero odor if you have the temp set right. None at all. The effect, to me is somewhat slower than a pipe or bong. Ok like a minute or so! Then zang away we go!
Great machine for social gatherings also. Pass the bag around and vape it again. You can get at least 3-4 vapes out of the least amount of product. Reload and away you go again.
The taste is really much better also. Depending on your temp and what you have you can really taste the differences in your product. I just had some Juicy Fruit that had only dried 3 days and it was not grassy at all. The flavor was wonderful.
Go for the volcano! Hell its what the Amsterdam Coffee Shops have on the table. There is a reason for that!

Sadly, I have a lightbulb vape. But not really sadly, I'm glad I made it it gets me high as fuck. In fact, I am right now off of already-vaped weed/resin! Haha. It's a great, clear-headed high too. I'll feel better than I did Tuesday and Wednesday when I smoked out of a bowl.

I have a wee little VaporGenie. I like it because it's pipe-sized and heats up in seconds with a lighter, and if you want you can just leave a bowl inside for when you're going on walks and whip it out whenever you're ready.

I also have a VaporGenie. I like it. It took a little time to get used to it but I've got the hang of it now. We like to take it out on our boat or on walks. It's no bigger than a large pipe. Totally portable. You just put the weed in the metal bowl, and the top part is the flame filter, flick your Bic, and your in Vaporland.

It works just as well as a regular vape, only without the warmup time or lack of portability. So it's better. Mine cost me $90 CAN though, I was kind of surprised. Oh, and make sure you get the plastic mouthpiece extension when you buy it, it's totally worth it.

Today I got the Vapir Oxygen Digital Mini Vaporizer. I love it! It's about twice as long as a lighter, and heats electronically. It has a battery pack so you can smoke away from home. Not really pocket sized, but definitely back pack sized.

I'd recommend something other than the vapezilla. With a forced air digital vape you really do need a real warranty. This type of vape is like a 4 cylinder car engine. It may have a great 0-60 time, but it has to work a lot harder than a V8. Evolutions and Vaporfection are comparable vapes with a 3 yr. warranty that includes parts. With the zilla, you only get labor. Parts aren't covered. An even better choice for great hits and really long term reliability would be an SSV. And with that model, you don't have to wait for an extended cool down time before you turn it off or put up with noisy fans. For whip use, a simple analog vape is much more dependable than one with fans and a digital controller. Ceramic heaters are very reliable these days and that's all you really have to worry about with an analog vape. Just my 2 cents. ;)

Thanks for the input. I was actually looking at the SSV before I got my volcano. I thought it looked pretty cool and I liked the glass stems you could get for them
I think I'll go that route since I was looking at it before anyway. Cheaper too. Thanks :)

I looked at the surfer for a long time before I bought one. Now I'm just sorry I waited so long. Build quality is excellent. The fresh air intake is about an inch below the top of the heater cover, so your air is very clean. This positioning may also contribute to the great hits you can get. The screen changing is a snap, and the wand/bowl is great quality at a great price. Makes it an easy decision to get an extra when you order, IMO. You do have to make sure the screen is a nice, tight fit when the screen is in place. These are hand made so you could get a loose screen. One of my extra wands is too big in the screen area so I need to return it for a replacement. The company is having growing pains, so quality control suffers, but customer svc. is important to them, so you'll be satisfied. Put '420 Times' in the coupon code field and you'll get a 10% discount on the surfer too. :smokin:

I was in the same position as you guys, getting the vapir one and being dissapointed in it. I called them up and they gave me a pretty decent run through on how to properly operate it. It helped and i was getting way better results than before. It sucks that its not so straight forward, but once you get past the learning curve it does the job well, for a fraction of the volcano

I actually purchased this machine first and went back and bought a One too because this vape was sick. I got the car charger as well as the portable battery pack and its on point. Beats using a bubbler in the car, thats for sure. Small and quite.
i think portable vaporizers are going to be big. The oxygen rips pretty crazy for what it is. The vapors are pretty dense considering the source. find me a better portable vape than the oxygen and ill be impressed
I have some sort of hotbox, its a tiny box with a heated rod in it. I'm not sure if there is a brand on it but, it works like a charm. And also its one of the of those whipped ones, not hands-free though. Anyways, it doesn't even tell me the temp its at, but it works amazingly. A distinct vapor, and good taste, with very minimal smell!

Herbalaire is the way to go! I got mine for 150$ on ebay but it usually sells for 250$ I love it! Its been called the mini volcano. I have a few other ones and the best part is that i can take the left overs from any of my other vaporizers and put it in the herbalaire and get atleast two bag. Its never as good as using new bud, but that just shows me how well it works and how there are some other vaporizers that dont do exactly what they say.

^ The other vaporizers i was talking about are the Vapir Air One, which i like but it leaks alot! and the Vapir Oxygen Portable is great for stealth use. I would always put it in a fast food cup and have the end coming out like a straw so that always worked well. The only down side with this one is that i can never get it to hit very well. I also have one thats like a VaporGenie but its metal and black. Im not a big fan of this one at all but i need to try one of those torch lighters to see if that helps any. Just thought id let you all know the pros and cons of all the vaporizers ive bought. Dont waste time with these if you can afford the volcano if not id go with the herbalaire for sure!

The Vapir Oxygen Mini works pretty well, but it's not going to hit like a full sized whip vape. It's the price you pay for small size and portability.
I also have one thats like a VaporGenie but its metal and black. You may want to just use the Mini as a portable, or get the Genie or Vaporstar. What you describe sounds like the VaporBuddy. It's a made in China ripoff of the Genie, and at least one has been verified by a lab in Cali to contain lead paint in the bowl area. At best it doesn't work nearly as well as the Genie.
Although I don't do bags much I've had the herbalAire for a couple of years and agree it's a great deal compared to the Volcano. Very efficient-nothing better in that respect, and easier to load and clean.

Yeah I think its the vapor buddy. Thanks for the heads up! Im glad i never really use that thing. I tried it like twice and hated it. Now that you told me about the lead I dont think ill ever use it again. I agree the oxygene mini is perfect for stealth, I only wish they drilled the intake holes just a little bigger.
I dont really never use the bags either , it was the only way i could think to give an amount. The bags with the herbalaire work geat but it can be a pain to put together. The only thing i like more about the vapir one is the built in fan. The herbalaire fan is external and you must have two outlets to power the fan and the vaporizer. Its basically just a fish tank pump. Mine only has one speed so i found a new one that works a little better at the fish store.
Hope this helps someone! I wish i knew to look here before i went out and bought all these vaporizers cuz i would be happy with only the herbalaire, infact none of the others EVER get used. Just remember that diffrent vaporizers have diffrent advantags and disadvantages. You must take things into consideration like how much you will use it, where you will use it, do you want to use bags alot or straight hit, etc...

I bought a Super Vape Zilla about a year ago. I love it, mostly because it can sit on my workbench and no one is the wiser. It's a fan assisted vaporizer. I got a great deal on it through a friend. I believe they retail for about 500 dollars. i paid 375.
Recently I bought a Steinel HG2510 heat-gun and a nice heavy bong / downstems from gotvape.com. The heat gun was 180, and the pipe was a little under 80. This is my absolute favorite way to vaporize.
In the evening, when I can;'t be bothered with a heavy heatgun and glass on glass, I fire up my Super Vape Zilla. It's absolutely amazing, however I like taking large rips, and that's best done with a heatgun/bong.
Both vaporizers can fill bags. The heatgun is easier and much better at this. I use regular purdue oven bags.
Also, a vaporizer is only as good as it's clean. If your vape is a whip type, clean the whip after very 3rd use or so. Change the screens, so forth.
So far, knock on wood, I haven't broken anythng glass... :)

If you are looking for an uber quiet vaporizer that has literally no weed smell then you should get a Volcano Vaporizer. There is no vaporizer like this one! It actually fills a bag up with the sweet sweet Vapor and the bag can be carried around and passed with ease. Take just one of these bags down to your face and you will be stoned for hours on end. The Volcano is the Vaporizer that is Found in all of the MMJ dispenseries because it enables one to taste and differentiate betweeen different strains of bud. I vaped with the Volcano this whole past summer just upstairs from my parents room. They never could smell a thing! When little brothers storm in the room they couldn't smell anything! I am selling mine on Ebay at the moment. I have had it for about 6 months, but i must sell it to pay for my move out to California. MMJ Card Here I Come! The link to the Auction is Volcano Vaporizer--Solid Valve System Must See!!! - eBay (item 190266446764 end time Nov-19-08 12:33:11 PST):vap_smiley:

I dunno StonedChef, mine can be pretty stinky, especially when I get past temp setting 6 (on a classic). My lady says it smells like burnt rubber or popcorn. It doesn't linger though and I've used it in non-smoking hotel rooms and on board two Carnival cruises with no problems. I pack some fabreeze with me though and spray before I leave the room. Won't set off smoke detectors either.
I should note that back when I was new with the volcano and started at like temp setting 3 and worked my way up ... I would get blazed on a bag. Now it's like 3 bags for me. And it didn't stink much at all back then now that I think about it. Yes I've changed the air filter, clean the bowl w/ alcohol, and replace the bags.

I have previously owned the Volcano Digit and the Silver Surfer, but I sold both of them after a few months of use. I have a few major problems with these systems:
1. Inhaling out of a plastic bag or tube just doesn't seem right.
2. After getting used to these systems, you can find yourself 5 bags deep from the volcano or several wand-packs into an SSV session and still not sure if you're high yet.
3. The main reason I bought the SSV was because of all the reviews that said how good it tasted. I agree that the first one or two hits from it are quite delicious, but after this it falls downhill and starts to taste just like all the cheap vapes out there.
After my experiences, I created a setup with a Steinel Heat Gun and a Roor Bong. This way everything is glass-on-glass and there's nothing to mess up the taste or quality of my hits. I posted a few videos of myself using this setup: Check it out (http://www.HealthyVapors.com/VideoDemos.htm).

I love this vape.. It's like drinking from a small coconut with a fat white straw. Make the herb taste sooo healthy too. I always wanted to get a pretty bong but ever since we started with this one, we can;t go back to burning the good stuff!:hippy:

Got a bong from Vriptech. I've managed to break the $45 glass vaporization chamber (and several bowls) on my tile floors. I bought a similar sized copper reducer from Lowes for $5 as a replacement. Works great!!

Hello all, 1st post!
I have a Fuji (Volcano - ripp-off)
My wife and I bought this because we were not brave enough to spend the $600+ for the "real deal".
So here is my take on the Fuji;
Right off the plastic construction is very cheap but unimportant - except the fact that heated plastic is probably not the best thing to inhale, but this is one of the main factors that make it cheaper, I understood this going in so for this - it is arbitrary. The biggest annoyance is I dont think (not positive) the temp reading is "true" and the F&@(!n thing shuts off automaticle every 15 mins....Freakin annoying! And, Takes FOREVER 15-20+ mins, to heat up and ready!!! The biggest positive is the Bag system...bag in general. This gives the vape time to cool, no HOT throat syndrom here like when I used my buddies "tube/hose vape! And no more coughing mainly for ack of heat, much less vilent espically for a non-cig smoker.
The biggest difference I have seen between the two are (based on not actually touching the Volcano, only going by pics and reviews);
1: The "heat tube" that delivers the heated airflow on the fuji has (1) heat distribution hole, where the Volcano has multiple all the way around the heat chamber (this makes the Fuji a lot more inefficient because you only heat a small portion of the herb as opposed to the Volcano's which heat the entire Chamber)
2: The Bag/Device interface, the Fuji had a cheap ceramic gasket, this was broken - out of the box, so theoretically we could not use it....We found that it still works w/o it, just requires more attention. I do not think the Volcano uses a similar "gasket", But IRDK for sure. Either way this seems like another "Cut Corner" : (
As far as efficiency, I have went from 7grams (sometimes 10.5-14) of primo $120.00-$240.00 a pop each week. Now we are at approx 7grams weekly of schwag (not too bad but... you know) and I can tell no (not really) difference, it lasts just as long as the Kind did and tastes identical, and I have just made my 1st edible batch of washed butter, so the cheap Fuji was well worth the clams I shelled out.
Overall the Fuji serves it's purpose of being a cheap, poorly built knock off item, that is well worth the monies it costs. I am preparing to get the real deal Volcano, mainly because of the "heated plastic issue". Over-all 7 out of 10 stars!//Funk
Ps: Ifound this site googling: washed Cannabutter, I think I will hang around, I just work A LOT.

Glad the Fuji is doing the trick for you MastaFunk, but I'd suggest doing some more research before shelling out for a 'cano. You really don't have to go that far up the expense ladder. If you want bag delivery, the Extreme or herbalAire will do the job just as well and give you direct draw too, for much less money.

There has to be about 100 personal stories in that one thread on the FC site alone.
But I will say this about my experience.
When I went from smoking my bud in a glass spoon to vaping it in a VaporGenie, I cut my consumption down by 75%. I vaped a quarter amount of the bud that I used to smoke and got just as high.
When I then got my Purple Days, I was able to vape half as much as I did from my VaporGenie to get just as high.
4 hits from 0.025g. Tasty, always available for an instant hit, always at the right vape temp, and has got to be the most durable vape on the market.
A daily workhorse.

I've been using the Purple-Days, commonly known as the PD, as my main vape for about 16 months now. It's great for efficiency and measured doses, due to the small bowl. Gives satisfying hits too, unless you're looking for lung busters. That would be where the SSV comes in (my other home use vape). A full size whip vape like the SSV (or more affordable DBV, with the same electrical components), can give you huge hits. So if you're a bong lover, you may be more satisfied with the larger whip vape. Be prepared to use more herb though. You can use very small amounts in the SSV or DBV and be efficient, but it's not really enjoyable to use that way.
With the PD you'll get a vape that takes about 4 hours to manufacture and is an excellent piece of craftsmanship. No other vape on the market takes this long to build and gives you this degree of fit, finish, and durability. All electrical parts are RoHS compliant (free of hazardous materials), and there's really very little to go wrong with it. And if you should need service, it'll be quick and top rate. Can't say enough about the vape and the maker. ;)

burning my weed! Nothing to be nervous about. You just have to get in line and do the waiting game. The wait is worth it. You're getting a unit made by the team that's made every PD ever produced. No minimum wage, half trained, 'don't give a crap', employee will have touched your unit in any way. ;)
If you're in North America, you'll buy from Vapenow.com. The wait time, last I heard, was about 6 weeks. If you're international, you order straight from purple-days.com, and the wait time should be less.

Based on the info here and the videos on youtube made by the PD builders, I ordered one today. The wait is 8+ weeks but it sounds like it will be worth it. Great info on a great thread.

I've recently bought a Vapor King whip style for $80 new and I'm happy with it,it works as well as my friends that cost twice as much(after increasing the tube size $1.05).I'm hoping this one last me a few years until better designs or better prices come around.Just a fair warning a friend liked mine and tried to buy one he paid more than I did for a Vaporking and wasn't at all happy.(vapor king and vaporking don't appear to be the same company.):stoned:

Hi Guys,
I'm new here but couldn't resist to post what I found. I have a Vapolution and use the large glass bowls (they have 2 sizes), with the food-grade plastic whip and the clear glass mouthpiece. Just by happenstance I picked up a small pyrex glass bong at the local shop and now I find that the mouthpiece on the Vap fits perfectly into the glass bong bowl. The resins that were there from previous bonging with a screen even helped seal the mouthpiece into place while you just press it there (and the resins don't come off on the mouthpiece, go figure). So anyway, I just fill the bong with super cold ice water, insert vap mouthpiece into bong and vap away. This must be similar to the ice boxes and other such contraptions I've seen advertised. Well it's definately not a money saver $$ because these glass bongs cost upward of $100. But if you have one . . .?

I have a lightbulb vape I made a while ago, it's good and all but I'm getting myself a professionally made one sometime in the near future, not sure on which yet.

Just ordered Da Buddha. I was on the road to a Silver Surfer, but the price of Da Buddha, combined with its similarities to the SSV made up my mind. I will post back when I try it.
As of now I have a crappy, potentially toxic Vaporite box unit that I no longer use.

Why not just take the mouthpiece off and stick the tubing down the downstem? Then you don't have to rely on resin for a seal...

Update on last post: I received my "Da Buddha" and it rocks! Fantastic construction, no funky taste, hits smooth, I can dial in the slightest vapor for a mild buzz, or turn it to about 2 o'clock for a super stony milker. I love how clean this thing hits, and how little product it uses. One TINY bowl can last for 4-5 TASTY hits. I give it m Rec!

Good point but I realized that ice works better so I designed a simple ice box using a juice container. Truth is you don't really need it. My throat just had to get used to the vapor.

The EXACT same thing could be said for the Buddha or the Purple Days, which just goes to prove that there isn't one best vape for a quality versus cost issue.

I just got an ego-t (dry herb) and am somewhat happy w/ it .I go through way less herb and it seems stronger.I dont like that the 'bowl part' is so tiny and that every other hit i have to unscrew it and fiddle around with a toothpick cause it clogs (i broke my first heating coil the first day I got it by doing this). But what i really like about vaping (compared to smoke ) is that there is almost no odor.I am anxiously waiting for a magic flight launch box to arrive - have a feeling its going to be a better match for me.
