I rarely ever smoke, but did a small amount once in mid-June, and another small amount (maybe 1 joint) last Sunday (Aug 12). A couple days after, I found out I need to take a drug test (UA I assume) for a new job.

I am pretty active, weight lift a lot and a good amount of cardio, am 5'10'' and about 185lbs (can lose about 15lbs). I take many supplements daily, like whey protein, creatine, BCAAs, fish/flax oils, multivitamin, antioxidants, etc.. Is it fairly safe to say I will be fine if my test is sometime this week, or possibly early next week?

I took a home drug-test this morning upon waking up, first of the day, start of the stream (not mid-stream), and it came up negative (both very dark lines). But, I forgot to take my multivitamin (liquid) yesterday during the day, so I took it about 1 hour before bed. I did not urinate before sleep, so when I took the test this morning the urine was full of vitamins (bright yellow color, odor of vitamins).

Should I take another home-test, or should it still have came up positive if I was not clean?

Also, should i refrain from weight lifting/cardio this week, assuming my test will be sometime this week or next week? Or should I just stop 1 day in advance?

The multivitamin didn't affect the results of your test. A good dark solid line and you should pass the lab test. You probably could keep lifting and exercising but play it safe and take a break for a few days so that you aren't working out 3 days before the test. If it ends up being next week then don't worry about stopping the exercise.

I don't know exactly when it will be yet... I have to wait for the company to email me, and supposedly they will give me a specific window to take the test, and I have to do it in that time frame.

I'm not going to drink crazy amounts of water the day of the test, but should I plan my multivitamin intake around my test so I will void the vitamins like when I did the home-test? (even though it will be pretty radioactive colored, I'll have plenty of creatine in me since I've taken it every day for a month or so).

Tell me what you guys think of this...

I had an extra home test, so I gave it to a buddy of mine to take today, just to see what the results would be. He's smoked every weekend for the past month or so, with the last time being on Saturday.

He took the test, and it came back negative. Now I'm starting to doubt these home tests, and I'm getting worried again that I might fail. He is really skinny and has a fast metabolism, but is that enough to enable him to past a home test that fast?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

He may be one of the liucky ones. THC half life varies from 0.8 days to 10 days depending on the person. You info is vague as you say he smokes every weekend. How much, how often over the weekend, quality, his height and weight, his physical activity level, was it with the first void of the day?

It is possible for some people to get clean very quickly while others take forever. If the test was properly stored and in date, it should be very accurate nearly 97-99%.

You smoked once in June then on August 12th. It is safe to assume your body was completely clean before smoking on Aug 12th. Most people clear a one time high in 5 days. If you want go with a mild dilution, half the fluids all the aspirin and Tums.

Makes sense, thanks. What do you mean by "..if the test was properly stored and in date", though? Just that the test isn't expired or anything?

Hows this mild-dilution sound:

4 hrs: 4 aspirin
3 hrs: 8oz Gatorade, 4 rolaids
Next 1 hour, 16oz Gatorade
1 hr: Liquid multivitamin, 4 rolaids, 6-8oz Gatorade

Not stored in your glove compartment during the summeror direct sunlight and out of its packaging, etc.

Good mild dilution method.

I'm pretty certain my UA will be at Quest - the type of lab test they do there is pretty close to the home tests I've been taking, just not instant.. correct?

Is there any chance they'll tell me on the spot, or they'll just take the urine and tell me to go?

Sorry for the double post - didn't see an edit option on my last one..

I've been seeing posts here of people saying they have an upcoming 5-50 GC/MS Pre-Employment test coming up, and stuff like that... GC/MS testing is the most accurate UA (from what I've been reading), and I was under the impression that 99% of the time they do the simple lab test first, then any non-negative result gets sent to GC/MS testing.

So with people saying they have the upcoming GC/MS pre-employment UA test, does this just mean it will go to GC/MS if positive, or it will be that for the first step? If the employer tells me the same, 5-50 or 10-50 GC/MS test, will it just be the simple test to start with? Hope this is clear what I'm asking..

Yes it is clear what you are asking and you are almost right. All drug tests go through immunoassay first, then any "non-negative" results go to GC/MS. The immunoassay will usually use a cutoff of 50 ng/ml while GC/MS uses a cutoff of 15 ng/ml. Immunoassay test for 31 metabolites while GC/MS tests only for 1 metabolite, THC-COOH so even though the number are 50 and 15, they really correspond to about the same level of THC metabolites in the urine. Immunoassay on lab tests are usually conducted by lab testing equipment. Home tests or instant tests use immunoassay technology similar. You asked about that in the first of the two posts. Once in a while an employer can opt for the urine to get a dipstick test then those "non-negatives" will go to the lab for another immunoassay done by the machines then those non-negatives go to GC/MS. This is the only way they would tell you on the spot because where they collect the urine isn't where they test it usually. They send off all the urine to a central testing location if you live in a very large city or they may be shipped to a location that handles several cities. It will take a couple or several business days to process.

FBR:

So I finally took my test today.. 26 days after my last time smoking (Aug 12). I was kind of caught off guard, because I was at school when I got the call to take the test - I could have waited till tomorrow, but I figured I should just get it over with and take it.

I didn't dilute or anything since I went right from school to LabCorp, but I have a question..

On my "reciept", it says:

799452: 5 Drug
Is temperature between 90 and 100? Yes
Split Specimen Collection: No

She took the cup, poured it into a smaller vial, sealed it, I initialed it, and she packaged it up. I didn't see anything happen with the remainder in the 1st cup.

Since it wasn't a split specimen, will it still go through the immunoassay test first, or right to GC/MS test? She said it would take 2-3 business days for the results to get to my employer.

I just got a little worried when I saw it wasn't a split sample, since I thought they do that to test one with the immunoassay test, then if it's a non-negative, the other sample goes to GC/MS.

Any reassurance is appreciated.

My post is really a specific question for somebody, but I've seen your question answered at least 10 times on here already..

No gown, closed door, nobody waiting outside, got in as soon as my appointment was/person before me was done.

any info on my question FBR?

Sorry, I was gone till the 7th and I didn't see you asking me this follow up question. I have answered this before but what the hell, you are so polite I can't say no.

The A sample is 30 cc's, 15 for immunoassay, 15 for GC/MS for any non-negatives. The B sample or split sample is if you want to dispute the test and pay for a second lab to test it. It is not a required option. Your A sample will still go through immunoassay first then GC/MS if non negative.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Exactly what I wanted to know - many thanks as usual.

I swear I searched, but hey.. nobody's perfect ;)

So it's been a week and I haven't heard anything about the results. I see that they only tell you if you fail, since you're supposed to pass..

I got a call from the place I'll be working at, and they said they're finishing up the pre-employment stuff (whoever handles that, headquarters or whatever) and need a couple more days, but I will start in the middle of next week.

I assume the results from the drug test would be in by now, so is it safe to assume I passed, since they are finishing up with the rest of the pre-employment stuff?
