View Full Version : Should I tell my extended family I'm staying with?

I have a really fucked up back, and the only thing that helps it is smoking weed. I've been to every doctor in the world and have been on narcotics since I was 15, so that avenue is pretty much exhausted. If I didn't smoke weed, I wouldn't have made it through college. I wouldn't be able to work a full-time job.
So I recently moved to Knoxville, and I'm living with some extended family in their really nice place, working with them as well. The problem is, I haven't told them that I smoke because the wife is pretty conservative on a lot of issues. If she tells me I can't smoke, I basically have to leave town, because I can't work without the pain relief that smoking gives me. But it sucks being a grown woman and sneaking around, trying to hide the smell in my room and sneaking joints in the backyard like a teenager. Eventually I'm going to run out of the bud I brought with me, and I don't know anywhere in Knoxville to get more. I don't really know what to do, and I don't know what to tell her.
So what should I do? Should I come clean? Or should I keep sneaking around?

I think this is best left to the judgment of the masses... who hang out in the general lounge... I'm moving it there.
Posting it in locals with the lament that you can't find more weed is a bit akin to a hookup request.
Have you considered cooking with your weed to take advantage of the lack of smell, discreet method of ingestion, and body effects?

I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention when I posted in the local boards, that's just where I was looking around and I figured people'd be sensitive to conservative southern mores. I guess I mixed up a couple problems when I posted.
Anyway, I can't cook with the weed because our kitchen is being remodeled, so there's no stove, and even if we had one, I don't know when there'd be an afternoon when I could be sure that nobody'd be around. Sigh. Anybody? Advice?

Well good luck finding more of your medicine, but I'd say you should have a talk with them before the situation gets out of control (which it so easily could.)
Doesn't hurt to have a doctor's opinion on the subject known to the family, they might be more accepting or responsive if they think you have professional opinions on it.

I would gather some info the matter. So if/when you tell them you can show them some proof that backs up what youâ??re saying. Just be strong and take some time to think.
Good Luck

:beatdeadhorse:My heart goes out to ya. That's why I am never leaving Cali. When you talk to family, tell them what your choice is. Either heavy duty pain killers which will not let you work, or a mild herb which has been used for centuries. If that don't move to Cali.:hippy: no sense :beatdeadhorse:

I'm sorry, but it's their house and you shouldn't smoke there without there knowledge. Arguing and proving your point to them won't cure its illegality or the possibilty of them losing their house. I know the chance of that is remote, but real. Is there no other place to smoke, like a car? Check out vaping. The Vapolution even comes with a car adaptor.

I'm just worried because it's so hard for me to work as it is with the amount of pain I'm in... I actually do have a vap, one with a car adapter, but I've been hesitant to use it when I get home from work (when my pain's worst) because it's still light out and there are kids running around in the neighborhood, so I use it in my room. I know that I should tell them, and I really want to, but I'm just really scared that they're going to give me an ultimatum of some sort.
And if they do, I'll have to leave. I'd have to quit my job and leave the state, because as I said, I can't function without green. I guess... how do I start that conversation with them? I've done all the research, I have all the facts, I just don't know how to broach the subject because I'm so scared of how they'll react.

I smoke because of my back too - like you, without weed i'd be out of a job, i wouldnt be able to drive and i'd be living an unhappy life.
I smoke recreationally too at the same time - i enjoy getting stoned and it's my medicine at the same time.
Personally, i dont like lying at all so i'd come out and tell them, but that might not be the best idea.
What do they think about cannabis? What do they think about using it for medicinal reasons?
Weigh up the pro's and con's.
But if your an adult, it's your choice, and dont let anyone make your mind up for you about weather you should smoke or not.
If it helps you, it's doing something good. Same as it is with me.

Lip hit the nail on the head. If you do decide to talk to them I would print out some information/research on the topic and site your sources too for them to go look at if they feel its needed.
