View Full Version : Why only money orders?

It's annoying having to pay for seeds with money orders, considering none of the seed banks are anywhere close to me geographically and at the moment it's hard for me to get to a bank, post office, or anything of the sort.
Why can't they just take paypal like back in the good old days!
I asked seedbay this exact question after I won a special auction from them and they said it was due to a large amount of scams or intended scamming, I wonder how that worked.
But still, that would make things so much easier!

2 or 3 accept paypal over here. They may ship across the pond,,i'll find out if you are interested.

Well I'd certainly be interested. My problem is the few sites that have prices I can afford right now (Nirvana, Seedbay, etc) basically have a money order only policy from what I've seen.
It's just that for the past month (and following week and a half) I've been at a very remote location at a Salmon hatchery doing work, and a post office or bank is just plain out of the question. I would absolutely love to arrange something online that would allow seeds to be waiting for me when I get home though :D ... I just keep running into this problem.

it's for your protection, also ... supposedly, PayPal gives up their info to LEO, if requested ... I don't know this for a fact, but that is the general rumor ... PayPal does link to your bank account, remember ... :smokin:

That's true I hadn't thought of that, but I've heard that paypal does give up info.
Although at this point I'd rather take that chance then have to wait another month or two to get some damn seeds :P

when I send an International Money Order (available at any U.S. Post Office) to Canadian company, Hemp Depot, with their $5 'Fast Shipping' option, I have received my seeds, here in California, anywhere from 8-12 days later, depending if I mail it Priority Mail, or not ... I also have received fast service from Growshop Alien, at least, that's been my experience ... un-traceable, I just leave the Payee blank, and let them fill it in when they receive it ... :smokin:

In all honesty I probably will do an order through Hemp Depot, but the problem remains the same. The main reason I'd rather pay online now and have seeds sent as opposed to waiting until I get back to civilization to place a money order is 3 days after I get back into town here in Alaska I'm moving to Arizona.
I shouldn't have to tell you that Alaska is 50000% more liberal in their views on pot then our friends like John McCain in Arizona, so I'd feel much more comfortable having the seeds sent to me now, in Alaska, then I would ordering them when I get down to Arizona.
See my problem?

I understand what you're saying, yup ... good luck, whichever way you go with it ... but, remember, IF you have hassles, it will likely be with the U.S. Postal Service, (not only for shipping, but also wire violations regarding credit card transactions), and Uncle Sam don't care WHICH state you're in, or how liberal your residents are ...

Mandala Seeds (http://www.mandalaseeds.com) accepts cash. I was a bit reluctant to send cash in the mail, but I got my seeds just fine. They're really cheap too.
Still, money orders and cash are preferred because they're not traceable. And if you're in the US, you don't want anyone tracing your marijuana seed purchases.

MANDALA Rocks ! ... a good honest breeder
A lot of places sell stuff other than just seeds, and even if paypal did give out your information, would they even receive your item list on the invoice?
PayPal isn't supposed to be used for anything illegal, like weed, seeds, or shrooms.
Besides that, if you take PayPal, you're liable to get burned and good when some fool buys your seeds, then because he plants them in coffee grounds and they don't grow, he files to paypal for a refund.
Besides that, you're in the US! You shouldn't be smoking weed, let alone growing it! You have more important things to do, like fighting for your freedom and getting real politicians in office! Get off your butt!

there are a few that take credit cards and prepaid credit cards not sure if that is an option for you but you might try dr chronic if it is.

This post was more wrought out of frustration of my current situation then it was a legitimate claim against these companies. I know they do what they do to protect their interests (and ours.) I'm just getting antsy, you try working at a Salmon Hatchery in the middle of nowhere for 6 weeks straight with only 2 days off and try not to go crazy with anticipation over your projects to be done when you get home finally (with a bunch of $$ :D)
Anyway, for my next question.
Mandala's Speed Queen and Hashberry
or
Nirvana's Papaya, Northern Lights, California Orange Bud, and Aurora Indica?

I have heard nothing but good things about Mandala, their seeds tend to be very prolific, are disease-resistant, and are great yielders. Oh, and for F1 hybrids, they're also very underpriced. :D I'm growing a batch right now, although it's much too soon to say what the yield is like.

That's not a bad idea. You can get prepaid cards pretty easily now, and both Growshop Alien and Dr. Chronic have always been very fast and reliable in my experience . Of course I wouldn't call any of it a "good" idea since it involves interstate legal complications if interdicted (just to play devil's advocate). Alas though, there isn't really any better option at this point in time...
What really pisses me off is that several years ago a U.S. DEA judge ruled that MJ is one of the safest, most effective, and proven drugs on the planet (and advocated it's removal from schedule) - only to have his superiors overturn his ruling after several months in an attempt to continue the disgusting whitewash surrounding the true qualities of the fine herb. One of the greatest injustices in history is that Harry Anslinger got away with his bullsh!t prohibition campaign claiming tales of rape and murder by "marijuana crazed negroes." What a complete load of CRAP!
OK I'll get off my soapbox now...

That it is, quite fishy. 10,000 Sockeye Salmon a season fishy to be exact. Funny because I've been to college, and I've lived with 3-4 people in small apartments, and this is the only time I've had to live in what would be considered a "dormitory" environment.
I guess when you sort/kill/spawn fish for 10 hours a day with somebody for a month you really don't mind it though.

And khronic - you growing either of the strains I mentioned? If so I might be looking you up in a month or two if you're doing any grow logs or anything :D

I'm growing hashberry and satori. To be honest, a bunch of my plants of both strains simultaneously developed a problem with their lower leaves drying out, but that very well could have been my fault for not giving them any ventilation. They're all still alive and growing though, and a seed I planted a week late is doing great, and already surpassing a few of the ones that got burnt.
I started a grow log, but I really need to update it:
