my aero system got too hot while i instaled a new a/c unit and some of my clones developed root rot.the clones i added to the system after the heat incident are vibrant and resistant to the root rot but the ones that experienced the heat are bummed....so imma do what i have done in the past and switch all that i have in the aero to the ever forgiving medium that is soil.(my ebb and gro bucket system is doing fine, aero is jus soooo delicate!)
here is the thing tho....i switched over completely to hydro methods b/c I HATE WATERING POTS!!! so... i am considering either building a raised bed in my room(2 car garage) or using hydro trays as the beds, gonna fill with 30% perlite 20% vermiculite 50% soil.i have spent a lot on stuff this cycle tho (including advanced nutes pirrhana and tarantula, and voodoo juice $250 for 2 40 gal rez doses! it helped a lot, but not enough to make me comfortable with running this method all the way thru this time.)and would like to avoid buying trays and drilling holes in them for aeration and drainage etc...
so the point of all this is...
Does any one have some dimensions of raised beds they have done indoors? i am transferring 60 plants out of my aero 60...all medium to small 6inch-18 inches tall, and i like to grow them about 4ft tall. i dont want to hinder their growth with lack of depth in the bed,but i also dont want to have to bring a truckload of substrate into my room.
as far as the aero and my room go i am running rez temp at 67 deg and my ambient room temp is around 78 so im all good in that department.i have found that once you get that root rot its either ditch the plants that have it or put them in soil.my teams clone supply is LOW right now so what i have is very important to keep.
thanks

thanks pete! exactly what i had in mind and exactly how i planned to do it....so i did have a good idea. but to be truthful i went another route b/c of my innovation/laziness i used landscaping pond liners and sum kiddie pools. their depth is a lil more than a 2x6 which was my main concern,i was worried the 6 in depth would hinder vertical growth but uhhhhh....apparently not.that dude has SKILLZ!!!!!!much props to him.
alas my dreams of running total hydro this pull are thwarted, and i run back to good ol dirt. still rockin the other half of room in the ebb and grow bucket setup...Grandaddy purps loves it...i have a bush w/ over a 3 ft with to it.still shame consumes me for allowing root rot into my aero setup for the first time in over 5 yrs...wadyagonnado(tony soprano)

you could always take your kiddie pools and turn them into a flood and drain setup .. which in my opinion are the most foolproof way to go in hydro.. you never ever get root rot etc in flood and drain.
