Man Wraps Head in Duct Tape as Disguise for Attempted Robbery

ASHLAND, Ky. â?? Laughter might be unexpected in a liquor store where a robbery just occurred.

But that's how employees responded to the "Duct Tape Bandit" who hit Shamrock Liquors in Ashland and fled nearly empty handed.

A man who had his head wrapped in duct tape to conceal his identity walked into the store last Friday, Ashland police said.

Store manager Bill Steele had some duct tape of his own, but his was wrapped around a wooden club that sent the robber fleeing, according to a report by WSAZ-TV in Huntington, W.Va.

Store employee Craig Miller said he chased the man to the parking lot, tackled him and held him in a choke position until police arrived, the station reported. An unidentified customer also helped, police said.

Kasey G. Kazee, 24, of Ashland, was charged with first-degree robbery, according to Ashland Police Sgt. Mark McDowell.

Kazee, in an interview with the TV station, denied he was bandit who robbed two rolls of change from the store.

Kazee pleaded not guilty Monday in Boyd County District Court and was ordered held under a $250,000 cash bond.

HAHAHAHAHAH WTF this guy deserves the Darwin Award for the most stupid criminal of the year!

That guy sucks. He didn't have a gun, he didn't have an accomplice. He doesn't have a brain. He didn't shoot out the camera. He didn't have a bandana and a hat with mirrored sunglasses, or a balaclava. He didn't use the element of suprise, he used the element of dim wittery. he should've also pleaded guilty. Like i said, he sucks.

i agree reefer with everything except shooting out the camera, no one in their right mind walks in and starts shooting at a camera, first of all if the owner has a gun that gives him a right to pull it out and blast u, and second of all hundreds of people can hear it and call the police instantly, depending where you are they might be there FAST so that could screw you. like you said you just gotta cover your face go in and get out

My point is, if you're a criminal, there's no reason why you have to be stupid. You have plenty of time to think about what you want to do and how not to get caught. It's true, shooting out the camera would probably cause attention unless your gun was silenced and no one was in the store and you waited until the clerk goes in the back for a second, leaving him unarmed. Perhaps there's even no need to shoot out the camera, you need to be in and out, try and scan an item, subtotal, put in 1000 and enter on a register and that baby should open up. Anywho, it's all theoretical :D Rob the clerk and his gun and get in your getaway vehicle, with your route planned, think about traffic, test out the route, change of clothes, change of appearance, hide the car in garage, chill in house and smoke a blunt.
