as long as youre doing something active to burn it off, otherwise you're just gonna gain a lot of weight from them

I drink The Weider Protein Supplement Muscle Builder just mix with fat free milk and ice blended
it has protein and amino acids and just enuff carbs to help with your cardio work out
I use it 3 times a week and it works well
the trick to building muscle mass is not over working your muscles and thus breaking them back down
heres my trick;
Mondays~ Upper arms pulling pushing lower back...cardio
Wes. ~Legs rowing calfs...cardio
Fri ~Abs chest upper legs & ass..cardio
Sundays~ Pool 100 laps
and loads of cardo ie treadmill stationary bike ~10 miles each time
good luck it's worth it!

Proteins shakes are only necessary if you don't have a lot to time or money to eat 6 full meals of solid foods.
Otherwise solid foods with lots of protein is the best option.

He's doing it to add weight because it sounds like his metabolism is really fast and not so much to rebuild muscle after a workout.
There are so many protein shakes out there at least a hundred if not closer to a 1000. Not all are created the same. Some are almost 100% protein while some are a combination of proteins, carbs, fats, vitamins, and minerals. You need to do your research when chosing which one you want. You want to read the nutritional guides and ingredient lists. Some are going to use quality ingredients others are not. Look at the types of fats used and the breakdown of essential and non essential amino acids (essential cannot be produced by the body).
One of my favorites is Met Rx. An excellent product but I used it more as a meal replacement rather than a supplement. I didn't want the calories from the shake and a meal which is more of what you are looking for. In moderation, they are for the most part safe to drink everyday. You know if you are drinking 5 a day made with whole milk then that might be a problem.

tru but why would you drink those 5 times a day when the recommended usage is usually 1-3 times a day?

They're people at my gym that literally abuse that shit.
I mean they get big and all, but it's like disgusting.

I have the same body type as you. If I don't eat often, I'll lose weight very easily. So I know the struggles it takes to even get a little bit bigger!
You have to eat like every 4 hours, and a lot of food as well. Just don't eat things that are crappy, but anything goes. Just eat!
If you can't find the time to get food, that's when protein shakes are useful, as Boobs say, as a meal replacement.

ill throw my 2 cents in here.
it is safe to take every day, id recommend twice a day. If you aren't working out, i would say save your money because protein shakes are mostly for repairing your muscle fibers for post workout.
Just don't expect too much out of it.
Another thing is, you might not want to take full servings at one time. Alot of times it will make u bloated, or very sleepy. I sometimes have that problems. For example, make half serving, have it with breakfast, then maybe an hour later or whatever have another half serving.
A good one that i found is called Cyto Gainer. With milk, it has 800+ calories and 53+ grams of protein. Also id eat lots of chicken, fish, potatoes. A good diet will also help you put on weight.
I just upped my workout to 5x a week so if you have any questions shoot me a pm. I'd be glad to help.
One more thing, im not sure if you work out, but if u do, I would try going on a p-hormone, something like testanate50. I heard that is a really good product if ur trying to add some weight, and to get an extra boost on workout.

my boyfriend drinks 4 a day on gym days, but he only uses milk for one of them. I'm not sure how many scoops he has a day though because I know for at least the morning and after the gym he uses 2. He has done a lot of research into his diet and work out routine though, so I wouldnt drink that many without doing some serious research of your own.
I drink 1 a day in the morning on gym days, and occasionally I'll have one as a before bed snack.
