Manu Chao

A band. They have fans worldwide. Reggae-like and it's very weed friendly music.
The band has many songs in many languages and i was wondering if anyone else liked them on such a diverse and wonderful site.

they are.. I have their 3 albums. they have one in french that i haven't bought. i will one day though.

i like them a lot. when i play them for my guests, it seems to get a really good reaction from all different kinds of people.

Manu is an individual person, not a band.
His brother also performs, as Manu Negro.

I believe his brother, Antoine Chao, was also a part of the band "Mano Negra". Which has more "rock" influences. They have a WHOLE lot of albums and were REALLY famous. I think they are a great band and make great music but i prefer the "Manu Chao" sound.

i meant to refer to him as a person. i don't know if he plays all the instruments on all the songs so i'd like to believe there's more than one person responsible for such a great sound.

but you are right...Manu Chao...is the name he performs under, not a band.

Im glad he has blown up like this cause he has so much music that no one has even heard yet. he got famous on his 12 album or sumthin like that. he has so much music already mad that alot of his new albums are just old music still good to me. I like all of the new stuff to thogh

"me gusta" is an alright song from them. i like their portuguese songs. he sings in spanish real well, but you can tell his native tounge isn't spanish. but i applaud the fact that he knows s many languages and dominates them so well.

manu chao only has 4 albums, one is all french and the other is coming sep.4 2007.
he used to be the front man for the band, "Mano Negra" which means Black hand. that band has a shit load of albums.
musically, manu chao and his associates are genius.
i don't agree with some of their political views though.

Alot of the new songs are from previous bands and solo track. Their new releses but old songs like almost 10 years old. He still comes out with new stuff in every album thogh, I used to get radio bemba on a bounce and back in like 2000 I was in Brazil where we would listen to a lot of radio bemba. I just seen him live that new band hes got is sick when they did welcom to tijuana the place went crazey blunts and drinks and dancing....... dope.

Manu chao is such a good reggae, I love the songs "Mama call", "Bongo Bong", "El viento"... I think almost every manu chao song is good.

I saw him live at a concert here in Venezuela, NICE stuff. :)
