anyways i love opeth, children of bodom, lamb of god, etc... im a huge avenged sevenfold fan too but whether or not you consider them metal is up to you. i personally think the new cd is indeed metal, but its just not heavy. lol sorry for rambling but i'm rather bored and am always up for talking about the greatest genre, METAL. alright peace out guys

The band sounds like a lamb of god clone, but that's not entirely bad. I like this band so far... And that's sayuing a lot. I usually listen to harder metal. Friend request----

i get a great deal of metal from sirus, hard attack 27, there enough on there to make me puck and ask for seconds. slayer was the gateway drug that got me into this music.

yea there biggest influene by far is lamb of god... all my smoker buddies usually listen to lamb of god when we get high, then we watch my friends (guitar player and drummer) play some lamb of god songs and some of their own material. if you listened to the song "triple" it shows off some of their opeth influence toward the end of the song.
oh and to the guy who listens to hard attack and said slayer was their gateway drug to other metal... thats awesome. slayer is probably one of the biggest influences in my guitar parts i write for my band. i usually write fast melodic riffs... but sometimes i write fast dark sounding stuff, kind of like job for a cowboy. i listen to sirius 27 pretty much every night for a couple hours before going to bed. gotta love beyond the pit at 11, with the best of death metal and grindcore and such. :)

I love heavy metal, my all-time favorite type of music. I really can't get into most of this new stuff coming out of the US though, so much is just drek. My favorite classics are Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Slayer... used to have Megadeth on that list but I'm kinda bored of them now.
With the newer stuff I personally think the best is coming out of Europe. Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Amon Amarth, Lacuna Coil, Dimmu Borgir to name a few.

That's awsome Ghosty, I love Tool and Isis! Haven't seen either live, but I'd sure love to. I especially want to hear my favorite Isis song, Dulcinea, live. Did Tool play 10,000 Days (Wings pt.2)? That could infinite potential for visual effects, I find it's a total mindtrip (especially when I'm high) as is.

YES! I love heavy music, of all kinds.
Not a bad band on the myspace page either. I do agree with what someone said though, the guitars/music sound too much like L.O.G., and the vocalist sounds is too gritty and distorted for my liking. I'm picky about vocals though. Too much sounds like same these days. ;)
I enjoy some 80's stuff. I don't mind Iron Maiden, as a guy at work listens to it all the time, so I do too. It's not bad, but nothing I'd ever buy myself.
I'd have to say Pantera got me into heavy music for sure when Vulgar Display came out. I remeber my older bro listening to it from downstairs, and I wasn't allowed to listen to it for its "bad words" as I was young. When I got older though, I bought their CD's, and of course that got me into Slayer, and even early Metallica (pre-Black Album).
I do enjoy some of today's heavy music, or metal, whatever you want to call it. I too enjoy Lamb of God very much so. Along with Children of Bodom, Unearth, 3 Inches of Blood, Burnt by the Sun, Down, stuff like that. Too many to name.
I also have been writing songs and playing in a band with 3 other guys. My main influences and the first thing our vocalist said to me that my playing style and sound, reminded him of Tony Iommi and Dimebag. Not that I'm comparing myself to them, but that's where my style came from along with my own originality as well.
Take care.

I am HUGE into metal, I am the most extreme person (metal wise) that I know (which gets kinda lonley :( )
I love all kinds of metal like lamb of god and stuff, but what I am REALLY into is on the extremely hard scale, like Extreme, technical, and brutal Death Metal, as well as grindcore. I also love the oldschool stuff too, but lesser known, like Carcass, Death, Entombed, etc.
Anyone else into realy extreme/heavy stuff? lately been listening to a lot of Nile, Suffocation.

Hell yeah, metal rules. I'm into all sorts of metal: death metal, black metal, power, trash, speed, doom etc. But my favorite is definitely folk/viking/ethnic influenced metal. A lot of metal is so generic, but it's always awesome to hear searing gypsy violins alongside shredding metal guitars, or black metal fused with traditional Finnish polka (ala Finntroll) or black metal mixed with traditional Oriental folk melodies such as South Korea's Sad Legend.
I'd like to start a bluegrass metal one day, complete with fiddle, banjo, ferocious double bass drum pounding, shredding guitars, and all the works.

You would be a good friend to me:thumbsup: Children of Bodom is the best. Seen them allready 4 times. What do think about Imperanon, there much alike CoB.
Further favourite bands are: Vader (Poland), Arch Enemy (Germany), Caliban (Germany), Dark Funeral (Sweden), Amon Amarth (Sweden), At The Gates (Sweden), Napam Death (UK)
Mainly bands out of Europe, cause I believe the origins of metal still come from this side of the world.
But bands from the rest of the world are also sublimious. I can't think of a living without the music of Manowar, also Cradle of Filth have contributed a lot to the scene.
Biggest Metal festival in Belgium is Graspop Metal Meeting (http://www.graspop.be/) and it is one of the biggest metal fests in Europe. If you ever come to Europe, sure as hell come to Belgium at the end of June for Graspop (Graspop Metal Meeting 2008 will take place during the last weekend of June: 27,28,29 June), the festival where you can walk around stoned as hell and no one will say anything about it
