How exactly does the Pope get elected to be the Pope? And also, what exactly does the Pope do?

The pope is elected from the college of cardinals by his peers. Cardinals are appointed by the pope.

The pope is like the voice of the catholic church. He doesn't really have much power in modern times, but he bascially used to call the shots on what was going on in the world in the old old days.

I feel it necissary to add that it isnt required to be a cardinal, a bishop or even a priest to be elected pope, something most people dont know. But I cant think of any example in history where a cardinal was NOT chosen.

The pope doesn't like Harry Potter, that alone makes me dislike him a bit.In that case I might have to give Catholicism another look :p I can't stand Harry Potter... or LOTR, or that new crap that came out with sky pirates, or Star Wars, or Pirates of the Caribbean. Anything "epic" or "fantasy"-like kinda gets a wag of the finger from me.

well yeah, but that doesn't mean they should get credit... alot of things one day will almost definately happen... just becuase someone repeats it 1,000 times over doesn't mean they were right, or atleast not in the sense they want...

it'd be like me claiming i can cause everyone death and go around telling people you're gonna die... of course, it's bound to happen eventually :D
