<snip>

hmm, that is too bad. I was hoping that he would stay for a little bit longer, at least until the end of Bush's presidency. To leave Bush now is a dick move on his part.

Rove's from texas too? I guess that makes sense, since he was with bush when he was the governor of tx. I don't want to "mess with texas," but why are all these inexorably fascist cynical politicans from TX? bush, rove, LBJ. Cheney's from wyoming, which has always raised my eyebrows. Unless there's actually been good presidents from tx, why not just say that no one from texas can be president anymore, kind of like how no one born outside the u.s. can run? Doesn't texas want to secede and be its own country anyway? That all probably sounded bigoted, and I don't want to bash the south; a lot of smart, benevolent civic-minded presidents have come from the south in general. i realize I probably crossed a sensitive threshold with this post, so most rejoinders to my comments might be justified, I'm just sickened by the bush white house to the point that I forget myself.

Just thought I'd point out that one of our most informed/intelligent members, Birdgirl, is from Texas. You can be sure she'd have my vote for president!:jointsmile::hippy:

Major Mike, I do believe we're on the same page here, You came from the repuke side and saw this deception, Kudos, It was easier for me to see as when Bush was running for president I did some research on his background and it weren't pretty. I knew he was an asshole from the first time I saw him speak, that cocky texas smile said volumns to me.

I was both pleased and shocked with the news, although I am aware this will in no way make the administration any better.
Karl Rove is a jackass, simply put. He didn't even graduate from college!!! I know Bill Gates did not graduate from college, but let's be honest, Karl Rove is no Bill Gates. I think there should be some type of law that you can not have a top government position without formal education. And at a "real" college too.

I'm not saying that if you graduate from college it means you are "smart." Or if you didn't, you are "dumb".
All I'm saying is I think it should be required. There are many people in society who are very intelligent, but may not be able to obtain high paying or prestigious careers simply because they do not have a degree. You can't just decide you want to be a doctor because you have some medical knowledge, or even a damn meterologist has to go to college. I think governmental positions should be no different. When you are president, you shouldn't just be able to "pick teams" and put anybody in the White House you desire. I'm just saying there should be standards, and a formal education is a start.

I was under the impression Rove is from Wyoming. I know for a fact that Bush, despite what his PR people would have you think, is not a native Texan!
He's a lazy, spoiled frat boy from Connecticut putting on airs of Western ruggedness.
I don't think where you're from completely determines how you conduct yourself, but Bush is a poser of the highest order in so many ways it's just sad (to say nothing of his room temperature IQ and complete lack of integrity).

While it pains to me to think that our President is a mental midget, you are completely right. But, it should be noted that he was a legacy admit, and being a text book example of nepotism he was perfectly fine to submit the minimum effort and ride along on his family's coat-tails. The highest grade he ever recieved was an 88 - and in an Ivy league school where grade padding is an absolute institution and quite common, that's really saying something. His professors recall he was more into the party scene, sat in the back of class, and wasn't shy about displaying how uninterested he was.
A big reason why I wouldn't mind an intellect like Obama getting elected - sick and tired of our highest office being equated with a mental deficiency around the world, it's damn shameful how stupid that man is. Anyone trying to pass off his constant idiocy as mere dyslexia or a problem speaking in public is either a hopeless partisan ideologue or simply hasn't been paying attention for the last 7 years.

Have you all read the post "In case you haven't seen/noticed these things.... "? It is a must read. All the things said in that post are so true. Yet it got moded and closed. Is this a free internet or not? What is going on here? :wtf: I wouldn't be to surprised if this thread gets moded too?
