The Amboy Times: Iraq: Teen Girl Stoned to Death (http://amboytimes.typepad.com/the_amboy_times/2007/05/iraq_teen_girl_.html)
I can't believe what the world is coming to. I know this is old but I found it today and I was shocked, there are a few videos and they are extremely sad. Was this girl a criminal? No.. all she had done was fall in love with a boy from another religion. Her own male FAMILY members stoned her to death for disgracing her family honor.

that's beyond fucked up... and they wonder why many people have such negative views and bias towards islam/mohammadism.... well, cause of things like this. I dont care if it's your fucking religion, the way islam treats and degrades women is wrong, outdated archaic and based around the hallucinations and rantings of a delirious illiterate warrior who went in a cave for days and claimed to have a revelation.
Holy savior on a stick organized religion pisses the hell out of me sometimes...

Actually, Islamic nations such as Iran used to have the most equal rights for women, until America got involved and fucked their country up.
However, I do hate all religion.

We haven't fucked it up yet but we'll be visiting there meighberhood soon.
I guess Iraqi's have no concept of redemption in their holy text?

We already visited their neighborhood. Iraq borders Iran. The U.S. wants to rule the whole middle east. Actually, the U.S. wants to rule the whole world.

Nope.. wrong islamic nations never used to have the most equal rights for women are you joking?
The religion of Islam originated from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. In 570 AD, Muhammad was born in the Arab country of Mecca. Muhammad was said to be a messenger of God and he preached this belief to the Muslims. (Zahoor, 1) In later years, to preserve and record his teachings, the Koran was written. The Koran is the holy book of the Muslims. (History 1) This book has played a large role in the way women are treated in Muslim countries. Its interpretations are the basis for discrimination against women and their rights.
Men hold the power women stay hidden at home :wtf: not because of the USA you idiot

I ve been reading horror stories from that part of the world for years now. its not only people from a different religion that women get killed. its for being from a different clan, caste, or sect of islam. it enrages me to no end because these women should realize that they can have the power to change, but i know its easier said than done. i just wish i could get my hands on one of those men and have a few words with him, and show him the power this woman has. then a swift kick in the balls. i hope this thread isnt closed.

Wow, higher4hockey.. that is such a cool attitude! It would be sweet if someone thought it was the right thing to kill..... hmmm... how about.... YOU!!!! Yeah, you! I mean, if that's the way they feel about it, why the hell should I judge them? Of course, you might want some say in the matter, but that's not up to you unless you have better weapons huh?

i attended a kuwaiti cultural awareness class.
the kuwaiti informed us of a rape VICTIM, who was later murdered by her own family, for honor's sake.
a very ugly, ancient, disgusting, sick culture!

it just shows how sheltered people in america really are, lol to think that the way the usa lives is how everybody lives, as if this way of living has just sprung up over nite. i think the usa over the years has took all the laws and rules of other places and made them better. it's not like the founding fathers just made up there own way. they took alil from all and made it better umm france, england anyone? i mean look what the usa has become a country with no respect, morals, vaules and still not free like they think they are.they are being ruled with an iron fist and don't even know it lil by lil the laws are changed to a more communistic way of life and no one can even see it

Did any of you actually READ the article?
Muslims did not stone this girl to death. She was stoned by the leaders of her family's religion, which is Yazidi. She was a Kurd.
But go on bashing Islam since it's so cool to do these days.

ding ding....we have a winner
Religion is not the problem... oppressive power structures will take form regardless of religion. The old testament suggests stoning a child to death for disobeying their father. Is this common practice in Isreal? No, because as the cultural zeitgeist shifted, religious leaders developed the sense to abrogate archiac and useless scripture. The cultural zeitgeist acts independently of religion. Islam teaching ancient and outdated patriarchal practices has less to do with islam as a religion and more to do with the socio-political dictatorships and regimes that have risen over the last half century due to the....for lack of a better word....incredibly fucked up political state of the middle east. These dictatorships and despots prevent progressive social change...not the quran. Fundamentalist clerics are given a voice not because thats what the majority of muslims believe, but because thats who those in power allow to speak.
What do you think is going to happen in the US if the fundamentalist christian right keeps gaining power? I see a "Gay Guantanamo" just around the corner

you guys are totally missing my point. i dont think its right, but my point is that yeah we think its crazy and cruel and blah blah blah cry me a river. but there are cultures that think that the beliefs and values of the US are just as crazy as stoning a girl over something like that.

Don't get me wrong, obviously I think that honor killings are barbaric, but I do understand what you are saying.
To a lot of people in the Middle East, the way we dress is just shocking and barbaric. A lot of people in the Middle East value the afterlife a heck of a lot more than this life and so they view this life as a test and to see women half naked walking down the streets (i mean like Daisy Duke shorts and bikini tops, etc.) is shocking to them because to them, that is killing yourself.
Anyway my point was to show that the anti-muslim blog from which this came totally twisted the story around to make it look like muslims stoned this girl. If you click on their source and read the true article you'll see that muslims were not the ones doing the stoning.

I know it's right in the eyes of their culture, but so what? Exterminating the Jews was right in the eyes of the Nazi party, killing 50 million Russian citizens was right to the Soviets, the examples could go on forever. I'm sick of this attitude that a belief has to be respected just because it's a belief. I don't care if that's what they believe, their belief is fucked and wrong, and every human being has the right to argue against every belief out there.
Honor killings are a disgusting practice and an indoctrinated mental illness, one of many imposed by religion. No natural, healthy, or sane family structure would kill their child by a torterous means like stoning just for loving someone, all in the name of religious intolerance. It's not right, it's religious fanaticism, something this world should be without.
