pipe burns throat

Aye all I've got is a pipe and it's not too bad but I've noticed lately that when I'm getting to the part of the bowl where the weed starts really flaming up and is giving off lots of smoke every hit, the smoke is really burning my throat and sometimes makes me feel my heart beating. I know water bongs apparently make the weed travel through bubbles to cool it down or something but since I aint got that what do I do? (I've been drinking powerade and it helps a lil)

It might be the weed that is making your throat burn. Feeling your heart beating is normal when smoking weed as it can accelerate your heart rate and heighten some of your senses.
Try not taking such huge hits, and holding the smoke for 2-3 seconds only before exhaling. Hope this helps. Keep a glass of water next to you if it still burns, same thing as powerade I guess. Powerade tastes better though haha.

I was thinking about that I guess you're right maybe I felt like the burn was causing or contributing to it.

Aha! Great idea. Or maybe this wasn't what you meant or maybe it was but maybe I could take a bottle, cut a little hole in it near the middle, stick the side of my pipe where you suck in, and suck through the bottle with water or something in it instead of directly through the pipe.

Whats that thing going from the pipe to the bottle?

For the record I just did exactly what you did minus that tube thing. I just cut a hole in the bottle and stuck one side of the pipe in then put some Camel Turkish Gold (pure shit) in the pipe and it only made it taste half as nasty as usual and I didnt feel as much heat!! And I filled the bottle maybe halfway to the hole with powerade. So hopefully this will work great with the actual stuff!

If your pipe is glass, you could always just cut the hole, stick it through the bottle, make it airtight with tape or something, and cut a carb hole. Instant bong, just make sure the bowl isn't too close to the bottle, or else it would probably melt it.

You could also make a waterfall and swish the water around at the end.. or take a jar, stick a bowl through the top with a stem going all the way down and get some small plastic tubing and put that in the top also and inhale through the tubing.. my friend made a piece like that it didn't work half bad.

Or you could just a bong... if you're on a budget just go acrylic w/ carb hole.

It's wooden I think except for the bowl part's metal I guess. But no all I did was cut a hole a little bigger than the mouthpiece and stuck the mouthpiece in and sucked the bottle through where you drink and it all went through fine I think. There's probably an inch and a half from the actual bowl/flame to the bottle so I hope it doesnt burn the plastic where I'm inhaling that!

Why are people on here always talking about brands of marijuana? I guess that's what they are because they're like "I do Purple Haze" or something and it sounds like a brand of weed but how can weed have a brand name?

if you just stuck the pipe in the side of the bottle and filled it with water it either wouldn't work or, more likely, would fill your pipe and bowl up with water and probably get everywhere..

for tubing you could either go to a home improvement store or a pet store, both carry it, and it's pretty cheap.... for the minimal ammount you'd need, if they sell it by the foot you'd probably pay less hten a dollar...

Well I just did it and it seemed to work. If I end up having to mess with a tube then I'll just tough it out and not mess with it at all. When I just did it with tobacco it did fill the bottle up with smoke but I still got a lot and I assume if it were full of weed smoke (or something other than turkish shit smoke) I could have inhaled longer from the bottle to make sure a bunch aint left in the bottle.

and to answer your question, homer1, a receipt will suck to smoke lol. especially if theres ink on it (which there would be) and ESPECIALLY if its one of those plasticy laminated ones. if you have to use a subsitute for a wrap use paper from the bible, i hear its good

clean your pipe then... go to the top of this forum and look for my sticky on cleaning resin (your choice to discard it or keep it tho... if you wanna discard it just igonre the whole coffee filter/can thing... just boil the pipe and dump the water.)

Try drinking a glass of milk, or eat a bar of chocolate before smoking. It gives your throat a nice film to protect it from smoke ;)

also, look into buying (if you are 18) a cheap plastic bong from a head shop. they are like 15-20 bucks, but are worth every penny.

I could be what you are smoking, if the cannabis wasn't cared for properly at the end of harvesting its possible it could be a fertilizer making it harsh.
