As someone who lives near Pittsburgh I can say that I hate "Big Ben". I hope he gets hurt sooo bad just so Charlie Batch can come in. I think Roethlisberger is over rated, I mean last year he was one of the worst quarter backs. He always freezes up or steps out of the pocket and then gets sacked. Just like in the game the other day. Ugh.

Well you can't be a Steelers fan if you want Roethlisberger hurt. Are you sure you're not a Bengals fan, lol? Charlie Batch!? I'd rather have Kordell come back, or Neil O'Donnel, lol! Are you kidding? And no, Ben did not have a good season last year, after bashing his head on the street after the infamous motorcycle accident, but I think he is back. And it's not like he has a very long professional career for you to judge, so far in his career he has won a Super Bowl in 50% of the seasons he's played in.

I don't like the Pats at all but I do respect and admire them. They got much better in the off season while the Colts lost a lot of players. I have very little respect for the Colts, playing in a dome, what a joke. Chasing wide receivers on turf, such an insult to the sport. If the game is played up north in January, I want to see their breath coming out of their mouths and kicking the grass to break up the ice. If the AFC Championship was played outdoors last year, whether in New England or Indy, the Pats would have handed Peyton's ass to him again. He would have thrown about 4 INTS and blamed it on the weather. He would have ripped off his chin strap like he usually does, smacked his hands together, then looked at the cold, wet ground and his hands and in his post game interview he would have blamed it on the cold and his offensive line.

Superbowl XLI was the most boring Superbowl in years. It can only get better this year.

you got to give the colts credit though they pulled off an impressive run in the playoffs last year. i mean they have some great players on that team. peyton manning, marvin harrison, Joseph addai, bob sanders, dwight freeney. those are some great players right there. and you got to admit they beat one of the best cold weather teams the bears. and they beat the pats on their home turf during the regular season and they beat the ravens in baltimore in january. you got to give them some credit for all that. and on top of all that tony dungy is a great coach.

i live near pittsburgh too...and big ben is ok in my book. he led the Steelers to a 15-1 season his rookie year then an 11-5 regular season and super bowl championship the next year. and then he had a bad year after a motocylce accident and an appendicitis. batch is a good back-up, but big ben is the leader. if you wnat to fault anyone for last season you can blame it on big ben...but also don't forget he shouldnt have been playing as soon as he was!

on another note~ The Pittsburgh Steelers: more super bowl rings in the last few decades than coaches. :D

Hahahahah nah Im a steelers girl all the way through. Maybe im wrong about him but from what I see so far im doubtful. Man, when he crashed on his motorcycle the news here in Pittsburgh BLEW THE F*CK UP! Im surprised his contract didn't make sure he didnt do any dangerous activities.

Yeah higher, what do you think of Cowher (hope thats how you spell it, I dont feel like checking it) leaving? I seen it coming. I really hope the new coach is decent. What really bums me out though is number 36, Bettis retired.....I dont think the team will ever be the same

higher4hockey

dissapointed with the rest of western pennsylvania.

when bettis played it was a different team than the days of lynn swan and the steel curtain. it will be a different team this year than from last year (no more joey-shit-talking-porter) but one thing will remain the same. there will be steeler faithful in the stands waving terrible towels. and there will still be retirees in arizona watching the steelers at eleven in the morning drinking iron city in the steeler bar outside of phoenix.

and besides we've got fast willy.

I was born and raised in indy but the sheer amount of bandwagoners around made me jump off the colts a few years back. I honestly don't get as much enjoyment from rootin for a powerhouse than I do for a strugglin underdog. LOL thats why I'm a bills fan (well that and its the closest team to toronto and we get all the bills games broadcast up here lol)

They beat the Bears in Miami, not a cold weather site and Grossman stunk it up.
the weather for that game was pretty bad for a super bowl first super bowl to get rained on if i can remember correctly so the weather wasnt exactly perfect. and grossman stunk it up all year long its a wonder they even made it there in the first place. the best part about it was that his parents are colts fans. they rooted for the colts. its gonna be a thing of the past seeing teams play outdoors up north in january cause most teams are making stadiums with rectractable roofs these days. the vikings are planning one, the colts got one being built right now, the bears actually thought about putting one on soldier field so they could host the super bowl, its only a matter of time untill the teams are playing under retractable roofs. that afc title game last season was one of the best in recent memory. pats had the game in hand and the colts came back. a lot of it had to do with bob sanders hes the real reason the colts made it to the super bowl.

Okay, I'll take your word for it, lol. Keep your mind open, Ben is still very young and inexperienced, hence the "dangerous activity" of riding a motorcycle without a helmet. I'm suprised there is not a law requiring helments in every state by now. He still has much to learn, but has also already accomplished what many strive their whole careers for, some without success (Dan Marino).

I started watching Pittsburgh when I was about 13, and they had Neil O'Donnell, Barry Foster, Greg Lloyd, Kevin Greene, ect. I live in NC, and Bill Cowher went to State, and Willie Parker UNC. Unfortunatly, I was a baby in the days of the steel curtain, so I can only catch those on ESPN classic. I have followed the team for over 10 years now, and witnessed many ups and downs. I can recall when Pittsburgh won the AFC Central EVERY year, and there was no question of who it would be. The games in Denver vs Elway..........And I was heartbroken when they lost the Super Bowl to Dallas. (I still hate the cowboys, even though there is no one left from that team) I have had issues with the organization letting players go, rather than paying them what they're worth, but I still love the Steelers, both good times (Super Bowls) and bad (Mike Tomczak throwing ints, lol).

rebgirl420
08-16-2007, 09:07 AM
OMG I know, watching the Dallas vs. Steelers super bowl was horrible. I didnt see it coming at all. Well hopefully there will be a new "steel Curtain". Hopefully they'll come back and be a force to be reckoned with. Not that they arent now (one for the thumb baby haha). But maybe they'll get even better.

Those preseaon games are fun. Everyone showing some good, bad and ugly.

Some good battle for position spots on lots of teams. Time for a good shakeup.

Still am thinking the 49ers will be the surprise this year, Frank Gore is awesome. And with Bill Walsh passing on, maybe it will be a magic season.

The Patriots?? good argument for them. Yeah I could see it. Maybe Mr. Green should do the superbowl poll at the beginning of the official play. Would be fun to see what we are all thinking coming out of the gates. My superbowl pick. I would want to see all of preseason first.

Where did Jeff Garcia end up this week?? The quarterback that wouldn't go away.

You couldn't be more wrong... Ben's passer rating while being flushed out and chased is the highest in the league... last year his passer rating was somthing like 75, and it was somthing like 125 while being chased. BTW Batch is a great quaterback... probably the best back up qb in the league, but he's never lead a team to the superbowl against all the odds, ben has.

Cleveland has always been a joke, there 1-12 in there last 13 division games, and have lost 8 straight games to the Steelers dating back to 2003. Honestly I have never watching an opening drive fall harder than Cleveland's on sunday... 3 and out, and on 4th down your punter lets a perfect snap go threw his hands, and gets off a 15 yard punt... oh yeah and on the same play there were also 4 fouls against the browns.

Mark these words! Saints are coming back. They showed an improvement against carolina and barely lost that one, and against seatle they turned the corner killing them in the first half. I think next week against the weak falcons they'll put togather a total game of football and make atlanta look foolish. Reggie Bush ran through the tackles and had a good game in response to the idiot sportscasters that called him the biggest bust in modern sports history. I think he will run angry and rip a couple more hundred yard games before teams start to respect the run and then its deep to colstin. Anyway mark my words NO will get a wildcard spot and use last years expeirance to make a deep playoff run!

make atlanta look foolish.

Have you seen the Falcons play recently? My Grandmother could make them look foolish

And I'm not just saying this because the Buccaneers are my team but the Saints would need to do a TOTAL 180 if they had any chance of making the playoffs, which history tells us is pretty much impossible when getting off to an 0-4 start, and two of those losses were divisional. Not to mention that the Saints haven only had three winning seasons since 1992. And I also don't think that winning two playoff games in franchise history counts as much playoff experience.

That being said I agree that Bush isn't a bust at all.
