Toshiba develops high-capacity HD DVD disc (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070116-8628.html)
will be intresting to see how this compares to price tho... it's bound to cost more than a regular HD-DVD

at that time HD-DVD was the more viable choice, but now since Blockbuster is stocking up on BD-ROM, HDDVD only has so much hope. I personally don't care which wins, either way, it'll be years until one becomes the "standard" (like DVD is right now).

well, they aren't just used for movies...
ps3 uses blu-ray right now... the more space the better for future consoles, more space can translate to quite a few things on consoles, better graphics, more sounds/words used by NPC's (instead of 5 or 6 generic lines, they can utilize the space to put in more audio) or longer games...

If its not backward-compatible with my current xbox360 HD-DVD player then screw them money sucking whores. I'm sick of the HD-DVD, Blu-ray discs war and this time I'm not going to get in their crossfire because I might just lose a lot ($$$). But I do like the idea of higher capacity storage (like slipknotphysco said) for longer and better graphic gaming.

No Ps3 games are even near holding their maximum capacity. They already look great but in theory its just wasted space. I for one would choose voiceless acting in some games, as it just works better for my imagination. :)

i never said they weren't using most of the blu-ray lol.. and since gamers are still utilizing the most space they can manage on a disc, it's more reason to get higher capacity discs <.<

Hopefully this works on 360's. Kinda sucked that GTA was delayed because of not enough of space on DVDs, hopefully this shit will fix it up.

there's no way that's why it was delayed, first, second the devs will not give specifics, so anything you hear is 100% bullshit...
it's gonna be two disc on 360, and one blu-ray disc on ps3.

dev - developers (insomniac, rockstar, take two, EA, etc..)
as for 2 disc, i could be wrong... i just tried to find a confirmation page and couldn't, but i've heard it more than once that it's going to be on two disc (mostly people gloating that since they have a ps3 they won't have to deal with 2 discs)
and it would work very simply actually... just the basic stuff (the city, cars, AI, guns that type fo shit) would be on both discs, with the remaining space on both discs they could use for the missions and such (missions on games tend to take up alot of space, especially games with alot of cutscenes and we all know GTA is never short on those)
but like i said i could be wrong, as i can't find something ot actually substantiate it, but it's what i've read so far...

I remember reading somewhere that Rockstar was experimenting with new DVD technology and it would be ready in 2008 which is why the game got delayed because they were having a hard time getting the game to fit on the 360. However i have no idea, theres lots of different reasons for the delay everywhere on the net. I also read somewhere that Microsoft refuses to release games with more than 1 dvd because they don't want to relate to sony (mgs, ff, etc..) in any way. These are just rumors though I think.

EA are publishers mate, they're the reason a lot of our games are released in a half assed state. N' I think you're right about the two disc thing. It will be either that or the dreaded talk of needing the HD player. I'm sure it won't come to that, or I hope anyway. I remember MGS1 being on two discs and a few other classic games.
Are you into the MGS series Slip? If so you seen much on MGS4?

Shame you're not into the series, I imagined you being a bit of a fan :(
Since you're more into your gun-ho FPS do you like or have you seen, Killzone 2, Call Of Duty 4, and Halo 3? Bioshock looks pretty darn good as well. This year has so many good titles being released.

i hate halo, for soem reason after 15 mins it bores me... i'm kinda tired of the same old real war stuff like call of duty, medal of honor, battlefield...
i'm waiting for killzone 2, i was a huge fan of the first one, played that game every single day online for about a year or more, but the online had alot of things that needed tweaking, if they don't make these changes on 2 i'm not getting it (and it's not only me, pretty much everyone wants to see what i want to see... mostly the ability to take out certain weapons cuz all killzone was, was a noobfest with rocket launchers, grenades and m203 rounds... which is one of the reasons i quit playing it...)
right now though... i'm waiting for haze, i can't fucking WAIT til it comes out.... and then endwar in feb 08...i don't think i've ever looked as forward to a fps as i have endwar... hell i want end war almost as bad as i want gta IV
