does glass panel on reflector affect light/heat?

My HPS has a built in 1/4" or slightly less glass lens between the bulb and hood. Will this have any effect on the light or heat for the plants or does it not make a difference if i use it or not. it does get hot though.

Use it.
It protects your plant from the direct heat of the bulb. If you use it, and ventilate your hood, you can put the light significantly closer to the plants. :thumbsup:
