Long term storage question

Hello. I've read the FAQ's for storage and done a search but would like to get some first hand input. I'm on my first grow and need to still buy until I get a few harvests done and a stash built up. I have the opportunity to get a 1/2 lb of some top quality smoke that would be able to last me for quite a long time, so I need to store it properly.

What are some recommendations from all of you that work? Is the freezer the best method?

I am not sure as I have never had to store bud. However, from reading I hear alot of people use the freezing method, although I am not sure what you do about thawing it out etc.

Freezing can work, but you run the risk of introducing mold.
I prefer the tried and true method of using mason jars.

mason jars seem to work.
freezing works to but i think if you do both , it might shatter the jar and that would suck.
is that 1/2 lb tasty?
