how do you differ the 2? is it the amount of crystals? or pistils? im so confused!! I don't see any crystals yet, but some pistil pod thingies have 3 pistils in each... is that normal??

Mech or chron what does that mean

growers do not use these terms. They call weed by its proper name like Hindu Kush. Most other names are just somebody's personal opinions of the weed. If you have a guy that the best weed that they can get is only half assd weed. they are going to think this is the best and tell everybody that it is (what ever the word u want to use is MEch or Chron), cause they don't know any better. Now if the same person was to say he has some Hindu Kush we would all know what he is talking about. Its all personal opinion until you use the scientific names for the strains. If you don't believe me go to a strain bank and try to find a weed called beasters.

sorry, but that's the terms we use here in california. mech is shitty weed, chron is potent or awesome bud. so anyways, can ya help me out with my question?

Wildfire already did- by telling you that it's a meaningless question.

i've heard chron, but i think the term itself is a personal opinion about how good the weed is, just like dank and schwag

I don't know how you guys relate terms and grades, but bad weed has a combination of these characteristics:
Stemmy
Seedy
Poorly manicured
Poorly dried
Uncured
Unflushed
Flavorless
Shitty high
Not grown with love

And good stuff has these:
From strains that were bred for flavor/effect, not just yield and ease of manicure
Grown carefully
Dried properly
Cured
Not bricked
Etc...
Get it?

Here is the best clone/seed bank in Cali. Were are these names, I can't find them? DELTA 9 (http://www.d9la.com/menu.htm) show me a site that sells seed using these names.
My mom lives in So Ca. The only people that would use these general terms are people with general knowledge. Can you tell me the definition of these terms and how its not a personal opinion. The terms you are talking about, there is about 10-15 of them and there are over 500 different strains of weed, And you call them all the same name. I guess if you don't know any better.

Well, now that we've all tooled on poor Adam- let's examine the etiology.

Mech is obviously a corruption of Mex, which is a shortening of Mexican, which refers to anything grown in Mexico- good, bad, or indifferant. When I was out there, I actually preferred to buy from Mexican kids- pot was just as good as and 1/5th the price of what the delivery sources had. However, they often would carry two grades- you got one if you only spoke English, and another if you had enough Spanish to say, ask for a bathroom. Or a bag.
As a result, mexican smoke got a bad rep in less diverse communities.

Chron was the bad guy in a Mystery Science Theater flick that I saw once- but I don't think that's what he's talking about. I'm sure that, whether he knows it or not, he's abbreviating " chronic"- which describes the smoker, not the smoke. Still, it was used to refer to " better" smoke in Cal in the mid-nineties, if you got most of your " street talk" from Snoop Dog CDs. " Chronic" smokers do tend to find pretty good connections. IIRC, one of the dutch breeders named a strain " the Chronic" at about this time, to take advantage of all the kiddies in baggy pants who wanted to smoke " chronic".

Mech(agodzilla) vs Chron- I'm gonna grab some popcorn and a fatty - it's the Creature Double Feature!

When I saw 'mech' I thought of 'merch', shortened from 'Commercial'. That's the only related term I've heard.

i'll post a pic of the buds

If you don't know the strain name, your going to have to wait till you smoke it. I have had the wickedest looking bud smoke like shit. Thats a big plant when are you going to flip it to flower? If you could get a close up of the leaves that would be good.

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 07:55 AM
It's already flowering. what do you mean "flip it" though? it's 4 feet

WildFire.ca
08-07-2007, 07:56 AM
how long has it been in a 12/12 cycle of light? Flip it is just slang for changing the lights from a 18/6 cycle to 12/12

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 08:00 AM
actually, I've never had it on 12/12 (I don't think) right now, (and i can't do anything about it right now) it gets 4 hours of direct sunlight at most. The buds are developing nicely, but obviously slowly. i flipped it about a month ago, and the buds aren't any bigger than my pinky fingernail :(

Can u cover it for 12 hours a day at night? It would like that

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 08:08 AM
well, i have nothing big enough to cover it, but it's in complete darkness for nights (I don't Know how long) i'll find out if it gets 12

Adam if you are serious about growing a plant indoors the most important thing is to get a light schedule going. Windowsill light is rarely sufficient, and if you go into that room at night, you'll disrupt the schedule and get herms or just not have it flower at all.
Some CFLs on a timer, and a grow tent or box, with ventilation, are the minimum requirement for a marginally successful indoor grow.

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 04:08 PM
well, it's not exactly indoors, but i guess it could be considered that because it only gets four hours. Thanks for the tips though. As soon as wildfire asked me about the dark cycle, i put it in my closet (just barely fit) but unfortunately, i can't get much ventalation, and my cat took a bite out of it. :( what harm comes from no ventalation?

stinkyattic
08-07-2007, 04:10 PM
No ventilation possible porbs=
-suffocation
-reduced mass
-mold

Indoors means it is physically indoors... not about the light cycle. OUtdoor plants get more root space, breezes, etc. REad up on the closet/cabinet thread to see what people are doing about setting up micro grows.

forgot to clarify that it's in the my balcony. It gets sun from around 9:30 am to 1:30pm. I'll get a light as soon as possible. Now though, It's getting too big even for me. I don't want to attract attention, how do i stop it from growing much taller, but still bud?

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 04:16 PM
well, it's not in the ground if that's what you meant, but it's in a nice sized pot.

ya, but will it be ok?

WildFire.ca
08-07-2007, 07:11 PM
if you have no more room to go up that is the least stressful method. It should be fine. like stinky said the most important thing is the 12/12 light cycle. If you are going to keep it in the closet at night can you get a small fan blowing on it. A fan is the next best thing to have after the lights are figured out.

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 07:15 PM
well, i just found centipedes in the soil. so puting it in the closet is out of the question because i cant risk them getting in my house. I might just harvest early because so many things are going wrong and i just want a successfull plant. I was hoping that my first harvest ever would be a lot more than a gram or 2 especially from a 4 foot plant. :( my week sucks

WildFire.ca
08-07-2007, 07:31 PM
do you have any way to kill the bugs? Don't worry I pulled of a half azzd harvest my first time, but I read about growing for about 18 months strait before putting a seed in the ground. I had tons of problems. Get something to kill those bugs. I have a plant right now that I wanted to kill a month ago, 8 different times. Then I thought, let it live see what happens, well they are going to be cut in 10 days and that little bastard is still alive with about half the average weight of the other plants. Ya just never know. If ya want put some new seeds in the ground and start them have 2 going.

Adam_scsd
08-07-2007, 07:36 PM
i had 4 going, all untill 3 feet. 3 were males, so i killed one (gave it a prober burial for at least trying) and gave the others away.
