I went to target and walmart and both did not carry mason jars because they are a seasonal product at these stores. I need to get to a store that sells mason jars , and would prefer not to buy online. Any suggestions?

Ok I found that True Value sells them for those in the midwest! Case closed. They don't give the lame excuse that mason jars are a "seasonal" item like the mega superstores do. I didn't know glass was like Avocados....

Thrift shops, yard sales, estate sales, specialty cooking shops or just using plain old jars? Mayo and jam jars work OK. And also, in the produce section, some of our local stores have fruit canned in canning jars- if you only need a few, that might work. Also put some ads up on bulletin boards at stored- lots of folks have them just gathering dust in a basement! - Granny:hippy:

Goto Big Lots I got cases of quart widemouth for around $8 a case I think. If you reuse old jars please boil them as even glass seems to hold flavors and smells. I had a friend use a salsa jar and his weed tasted nasty. Also keep the boxes the jars come in so you can place them back in the box and stack in the corner of your closet in the dark.

Big Lots! Great, I forgot all about that store. I just got back from True Value and got 12 1 quart mason jars for $9. Better than paying $24 shipped from Ebay or other E-retailers.

Happy curing!
