hey im currently making a grass growing game in c. it is text based but i thought it could be fun. if anyone has any ideas of anything to put into it. feel free. any and all suggestions are welcome.


progress:

seed buying(100%)

growing(75%) still need special items to do help and stuff

selling weed(10%) i have one person buying one type just now. this is what im currently working on

travelling(100%)
can travel to 5 diff places


currently 2018 lines of coding

yeah i am putting cops in it. i plan on having a whole range of things to do even in the jail to try and make money and stuff

hes making a new game im guessing sort of like high grow and high grow version 4.20.... but more stuff in it... like the game drug lord... so drug lord... plus high grow... is what im guessing its gonna be like... plus you go to jail... and actualy see the inside of the jail...

I think part of the reason why you didn't get more responses and input was that people were unclear about what you were saying/asking. I tweaked your title a tad so it'll be more clear. I am also going to move this to our games sub-forum in The Hobby Lounge where I think you may get better answers.

sounds like a good game idea man, you should make it so you have to grow all stealthy n that, avoiding busts n raids and things like that.

you should be limited by your grow space no how much you can produce and you have to pay your current rent and save money from your crops to move in to a bigger place to grow bigger crops.

the longer you grow you should get mold and bugs and stuff if you don't take preventive measures.

there used to be a dealer type game, where you buy shit when its low and sell it where its high. you got chased by the cops and could run but some times they would shoot and you would get hurt

Don't forget the dreaded moochers. Maybe trying to keep the number of people who know to a minimum - the more who know, the greater chance of somebody squealing. Maybe different qualities of soil and ferts you can buy - the more expensive, the less chance of plant deficiency or something.

Since it's text-based, I'm wondering something. How do you show the progress of the plants? In ASCII art?

I've got an idea for you, my friend. Make it online, kind of like a MUD in a way. Implement breeding and land-race strains into the game, hashish making of all qualities and forms, and THC extractions from the bud that you grow in the game.

Implement factions. In other words, people can choose to be law enforcement or weed dealers. Now the only problem is... how can you sell weed to online players when there is no hype of the drug in virtual space? Well, perhaps it can be through bud testing, and clone-trading, and strain selling. Selling seeds, etc.

Implement gangs/forces within factions, kind of like guilds in other MMO's. Find a way to motivate people to go on either faction. If this could all be done well, then you might have a winner. After all, who likes single player drug dealing games like Dope Warz anyway? All I can say is... BORING!

I think those are aspects that you should consider if you want to make an interesting game, especially when it's only text-based. A lot of work, I know, being a programmer myself. :jointsmile:

mfqr-i have no idea how i would implement the game online. would i need to buy a server or could i run it from my pc. i dont know

thanks for the ideas guys. i formatted my pc and have to start again. forgot to save the fucker lol. i also need to implement dome new stuff. and yeah im using ascii to show the growing.

ok, since having to reformat my computer 4 times lol. ive had to start again and shit. so now i have the growing of the plants done for growhouse space 1 and the seed buying. thats it, but its running a hell of a lot smoother now.

another idea dont know if its been said but seperate rooms for growing, veg, flower, ann be able to take clones so you can pump out bud that much faster.

right now i have 4 separate "plots" to grow in, each holds 1 plant. not really thought about cloning. im not sure if that would work well with how my game runs. i have no idea when it will be ready but i will be posting the link here when i am finished. im just starting the travelling now.

I have a tester for all you people who have been waiting! i bring you Weed World!! lol have a play around and tell me what you think so far

you'll need winrar to open it. extract the file to anywhere and double click it. it doesn't have many bugs and you can get up to level 20 with the battles
