As some of you may have heard, the University Ave. Bridge collapsed here today at about 5PM... it's been on national news since. Coming from a guy who lives there let me tell you... this is crazy!!!... For those not familliar with the area the University Ave bridge is one of the MAJOR connecting bridges between the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul)over the Mississippi River and a major way of travelling to the U of M as well. 5PM is generally rush hour here and the bridge was packed bumper to bumper with traffic when the bridge collapsed... there are still many cars in the river and they are investigating into the causes... Please Send them some good thoughts they could use it...

I lived in Grand Forks 5 years and I used to go to Minneapolis all the time and I've been on that bridge. Crazy stuff.

It's up to 7 people now, I've been on that bridge about a hundred times. I hope no one that I know personally is on there, I'm praying for everyone in Minneapolis and the surrounding burbs though.

I guess recently they added more lanes to the bridge but no more support. That might be the cause of it.

Not really the time to be cracking jokes about this I think.
It's sad that this has happened, I hope they find no more dead. Good luck to anyone who is involved in this tragedy.

aside from the unfortunate fatalities, it screws a city over when a bridge gets closed for what ever reason. Where I live I'm surrounded by the Passaic river and if something happens to a bridge ya gotta take day trips to get places :( Even down the street something happened with a water main blowing up or some shit and it somehow fucked up a bridge and cut the town in half... My friend lived right on the other side of the bridge and to walk to the next block he had to take a car detour while walking to get there..
babbling.. lol

Just saw it on the news a couple hours ago, never good to hear about something like that. From looking at the pictures and footage I bet some people thought terrorists, personally it reminded me of LA '94. Not good news.

from what i heard, they search team expects to find atleast 20 more dead today...
and some people thought i was crazy for being scared of bridges.. i mean really... alot of them are older then dirt... and they're huge ass structures, ther'es always a chance they could just crumble for no reason other then wear/tear...

This is such a sad story. I watched it on the news last night in disbelief. It has affected so many people. Not just the ones one the bridge, but the families of those victims. I couldn't imagine being involved in that. I would've probably had a heart attack. It just reminds you that life can change in a split second. It's scary...it could've been any of us.

many around the areas said they thought a bomb had gone off, a plane had crashed, or an earthquake... im sure it was comparable to all three
i'm watching the coverage on cnn but thier count is wrong it says only 4... they found at least 7 last night, local news confirmed it. i've been waiting to hear an updated count from local news but they havent released it yet... maybe at 5, but i gotta go to work so i'll see it on the 9.
they dont really want people down there helping right now, they blocked traffic for 3 miles on both sides of the highway... there is a bridge parallel to the 35W bridge a few blocks down.. we're going to drive over that bridge and see it this weekend... i will try to get pictures
