Or is this post offensive?
Opinion is one thing, but IMO, comparing gay partners to donkeys and dogs is over the top.
This may be just my opinion. I leave it for you to judge.

I find the opinions offensive themselves, yes. I'm still deliberating on whether or not to take moderative action, however. I'm not sure it's called for. I think what's called for is for intelligent, forward-thinking adults to say more (hint hint, PSteve) . . . .

I do not agree with the guy in question, but aren't "personal attacks and insulting other members" grounds for infractions and/or banning? There are a couple of posts now in that thread that certainly qualify for those actions.

It's happened to me, for saying less offensive stuff than what is being directed at him. I predict it will be cleaned up with no infractions given to, or banning of, the individuals that are guilty of doing it.

i'm guilty of it, and i'll take my punishment for it....

people like that are worth a banning to tell them my opinion of them...

I agree with that assessment, BA. I don't agree with the opinions, but the posts that required the actual moderative actions were different posts. Now I'm going to need to read that entire thread with a fine-tooth pair of eyes, however.

I rather doubt he did, Slip. That sort of stuff is inevitably lost on the ones who need to read it most. Which is why it's best just avoided entirely. It vents your spleen but doesn't change a mind like the one behind that keyboard.

i'm probably a little bit angrier over it becuase i have a gay friend, my best friend who i've known over 10 years... i've done seen all the crap he went through and how hard his life was made by people who think like that....

i had to read this post a couple of times, but i think you're reading a bit too much into his statements. at no point did he equate gays with animals. what he did do was to equate one sinful sexual act with another sinful sexual act. in his eyes i'm sure he thought he was being very liberal by not damning the entire concept of homosexuality. the views he expressed are surprisingly widespread and, considering the kind of fear that usually engenders such beliefs, his post was nearly rational. don't be so quick to be offended by the ignorance of others. if we all had the same opinions this place would become deathly dull.
