View Full Version : No more lurkers??? No more pictures???

Ok, so I do a lot of my surfing and reading on here when I'm not logged in. I do not feel comfortable logging in from just anyplace, so when I'm not in a secure location/using a proxy, I just go on the site and read threads, check on my threads, etc.

Just starting yesterday, I believe, I started noticing that I cannot see attached pictures while I'm not logged in. Is this something new? Is it intentional? What is the purpose of it, if I may ask?

Unfortunately, this will greatly decrease my interest in keeping up with the forums cuz I won't be able to see all the pictures posted by people of themselves, their vacations, and most of all....their weed. Hell, I can't even see my own pictures.

Yesterday, I reposted someone's pictures cuz I thought they didn't post them right, but when I logged in and posted them, they were already there. I just wasn't able to see them when I was logged out. This is a REAL bummer, man.

What will this do to the LARGE number of lurkers that come here and really enjoy it, but are worried about registering for security reasons...? Lots of people come here just to read about how to grow...no pictures would really put a damper on that.

What happened? This is very disconcerting to me... Thanks.

the other cannabis websites I visit are this way, you must be logged-in to access photos, etc ... I dunno, may possibly reduce exposure to people just stumbling onto the site, no obvious benefit that I can see ... no biggie :smokin:

Well, unfortunately it's kind of a biggie to me...cuz like I said, I spend a lot of my time NOT logged in. Lots of times, I look at the site while logged out, type out a lot of my responses, and then log in and reply to all of them when I can. Proxys are slow. For those of you who log in from home without a proxy and don't care, I guess it's no big deal. It is to me. That's why I'm asking. I've gone to other sites and don't remember seeing this, but I can somewhat understand what you're saying about reduced exposure...but I think that will reduce the amount of traffic that comes here by a great deal.

I guess I'm might have to sign up with another name just to log in for that now...*sigh* that's not ideal... :(

It is necessary at the moment and for the time being as we are experiencing heavy server loads
The other choice is to endure more server busy messages.

yeah, proxies do slow things up a lot ... I dropped my Anonymizer account just the other day, too expensive, and doesn't slow LEO up much at all ... used to work well, years ago, but EVERYTHING is traceable these days ...

Thanks for responding Sundance. I understand on the server loads. Wasn't sure if that was an issue with that or not. Thanks for the explanation.

Yea, IR, they do...and there are lots of threads to read...so little time. I'm just a much more paranoid person than most...and it has served me well up to this point. It's just a shame that I can't see the pics in my threads, etc when I'm not logged in. Like I said, though...I'll probably find a workaround. :)

There's good news, though...

I'm getting a vape soon. :) :vap_rasta:

I like it.

its like that with almost any website these days anyways. "want to see more? then sign up!"

its good for our privacy and incentive to grow as a community i guess.

But... but... as usage increases, so should revenues. There is the option of more bandwidth.

Isn't there?
