I was diagnoised with being bipolar about 3 years ago. I started smoking pot about a year and half ago but didn't start smoking everyday till about 3 month ago. Anyway, I have noticed a big different in me, I don't have my mood swings and I'm happy 99% of the time. I still take my medication but I thank weed for making me better! :D

Hi,
I work as a mental health technician in Texas. I deal every day with people who are bipolar and schizophrenic.
You have to be very careful when you have a mental illness like BPD and you are using marijuana. Many BP people have developed chemical dependency to their drugs of choice. The symptoms of BPD are the main reasons why someone develops those problems but the chemical doesn't help either. Of course you feel better and don't have mood swings; YOUR HIGH. You feel good. Just be careful when you come down because you can crash hard.
In defense I have to say that most (like 99%) of the BP people I work with are addicted to alcohol or crack cocaine, not marijuana. But you still need to be careful.
I hope my opinion helped in any way. I have a BA in psychology and now I am a graduate student here in Texas and I am going for my LPC and then afterwards I plan on going to med school. Psychiatric illnesses are the field I work in. Just thought I'd let you know in case you questioned what I know.

weed helps my mood swings alot.
depression and anxiety is hard to deal with ,a nice toke or two will change the mood
its not a cure but it helps the shit be manageable
i dont take no other meds for it cuase none worked for me
and ive been Rx'd so many for it its not funny.i stop letting docs treat me for it
worst one was dekapeto..that shit made me go into a spiral of depression
long story short,,,,best med i had for it was a jiont
and some quiet time after it to let it work,
peace

Howdy smoker4life,
You should be commended, for pursueing an education-keep up the good work !
I have a friend, who's bipolar, and she's currently on a manic, driving us all nuts..bless her heart, and one of my goals,is to grow a strain that will help her out..but if marijuana just exacerbates the problem, then I don't want to do that. When she's on a manic,I want to prescribe indica to calm her down, and when she's in the depression mode,I want to give her sativa,to pick her up.
Am I wrong in this approach ?
My girlfriend is afflicted with clinical depressive disorder-can't recall if it's major or minor, and sativa seems to be her favorite,in terms of what lifts her spirits the most. After trying several different meds,a former doctor once told her that he wished he could prescribe marijuana for her-because she wasn't gittin any good results from the regimen he'd prescribed..but when she started smoking pot in the absence of meds, she improved greatly-which he noted..somewhat to his surprise.
Anyhow..I was just curious on your take on this.
Have a good one...Torog :D

no no no honey ur definately not alone. scientifically, happiness is just some chemicals doin some stuff, ya know? like, what is it, seratonin levels are high (or is it dopeamine??) or something like that. anyway, smoking bud affects ur central nervous sys. and changes some chemicals in ur head, i mean brain, yeah, and it does some stuff. so yeah it shure did help. but win u come down and don't have weed, just say or think to ur self, "it's ok, kuz now i kan think of creative ways ta make ppipes n stuff or and i kan go weed hunting" then just build up da suspense. likke try to remenber that that sweet sweet herb will be on earth forfuckenever so u'll never go dry again!!! yeah... taht' should work. it works for me. they told me at the hospital that i wa s bipolar. am i still in da bipolar thread thingy? i dunno but i know that if u were dipped in chocolate, i'd like u ;) i saw ur pix, did u c mine??? hehehe

happiness is just chemicals doing stuff, it doesnt mean she is a 'drug bum'
the highs are better when life is good...
weed seems to help my mental health more than it doesnt help.
when i smoke moderately regularly i lose my hyperactiveness.
however it does seem to make me more withdrawn.
its strange though, while i am high i find it easier to slip into depressive stages, although it is also easier to stay happy also.
i think being high just makes it easier to control my mind.

Larry. I honestly hope you die. No, seriously.
If you aren't going to die, AT LEAST get off your fucking high horse and quit being a piece of shit to everyone. Or just die. Again, up to you.
Don't be such a prick and maybe you'll make some friends, thereby allowing you to not be so blatantly miserable to random people online.

Larry - Again, kill yourself. Listen, selling your 5 year old sister's virginity does NOT make you a pimp. It just makes you a secondary-pedophile. Same with having sex with 2 dogs at a time, that doesn't mean you can rightfully say you've had a threesome with two bitches, it just means you perform beastality.
Didn't you post something about "All bud is sensimilla" because you're a moron?
Didn't you make a post asking the members of a cannabis forum what the Koran is because you're an uncultured redneck piece of shit?
Don't you CONSTANTLY get worked up on an online forum, ranting and raving, whenever a topic involves christianity?
Didn't you make a really shitty typical rap and post it online? To be honest Im not sure if it was you, but it involved hoes and a spatula. Anyway, even if it wasn't you, it fucking blew. I'd never heard 'music' so terribly unoriginal in my entire life. Maybe if you throw in a shitty beatbox beat that again, required no skill to make, it would sound okay.
I ask you, Larry, when the ladies talk to you about what
sexy is do you say "YO YO YO!~~!! Im a P-I-M-P ,what I know is drugs
make me one badass motha-fucka, and I loovve to get bent out of shape and post
some angry stuff on a cannabis site cause I hate the idea of christianity. P.S. I'm a very poor speller, I look down on people who goto psychiatrists, even though I can't spell the word. ((I just say head doctor, and I often mis-spell the word doctor as well)) Oh, and I love to make fun of people with Bipolar disorder, but because I'm a dumbass who is either a drop-out or just insanely stupid I spell it Bipoal. Oh. And I can hardly string a sentence together in my native language. Take for example ' Didn't you post something about having a bad trip and loosing control of yourself and have to go on phyciatric meds for a year cause your little baby.' If you'll notice, I mis-spelled five words in one sentence and made three grammatical errors."
LOL:)

Anyway, I'm done with you Larry, You're an unchangeable douchebag who needs to be disposed of. ((Ha! Get it, disposable douche?)) You're a goofy guy with either too low a self-esteem, or too high of one. Either way. Just remember how much everyone hates you and how having sex with random females, females who have sex with men for money that is, makes you a PiMp. Don't forget your yearly check for STD's to add onto your list of genital warts and herpes. Keep an eye open for cauliflower volcanoes on your testicles! You're likely to fall victim to them if you continue to have sex with all the bitches you walk for the animal shelter.
Edit: I just realized it would make it funnier if I added a ZiNg! to the end of this post. Here goes:

Ok why are people ok with medical marijuana but not recreational use? I have depression, bipolar, anorexia, ocd and borderline personality disorder. My meds stopped working so I was thinking why not just stay high alal day? I feel totally better. Plus with my eating disorder it helps me eat a lot. How can you tell the differant strains and what effects they have on you?

I am a 44-year-old woman, who suffers from Bipolar I Disorder with ultradian cycling (ultra rapid mood swings.) It can â??swingâ?? a dozen or more times a day if I'm not taking my meds and/or SMOKING POT! No joke. I've been dealing with BP Disorder since the onset of my teens, but was only correctly diagnosed in April 2002. Because of the diagnoses, I was finally put on the 'right' medication. Theyâ??re called 'mood stabilizers'. It's the exact same medication they give to people with epilepsy to keep them from having seizures. The pot has always helped me to stay more 'level', more so than anything else I have tried. It helps curb the â??waaaaay highsâ?? and the â??waaaaay lowsâ??. I have been self-medicating with it for over 30 years.
During the last few years, Iâ??ve noticed that when I donâ??t smoke >>at least a bowl<< each day, my mood swings increase drastically. My blood pressure inflates from its heavily medicated (Altenolol, Tegretol, Trazadone and Seraquil) stable level at a marked rate and I end up in a full blown manic episode, which more often than not manifests itself producing a â??highly agitatedâ?? state which will last for days. This feeling (normally) doesnâ??t subside until I either A) collapse from sheer exhaustion due to the overly exaggerated mental processes that are going on inside my brain, or, B) find something to smoke. Even if itâ??s just a few hits of resin from a pipe. Within minutes, literally, of smoking, my body relaxes, pulse/heart rate slows down and I can finally breathe.
Recently I was placed on 5 years *formal* probation in the County of Los Angeles, California. I have been ordered by the court to submit to random drug testing.
And now they have ORDERED me to quit smoking. Just like that.
Itâ??s seems so absurd to me, that itâ??s almost laughable.
