View Full Version : Volcano Vaporizer - Your opinions

Ok, I read a few threads about Volcanos and other vaporizers on here and I'm still a bit on the fence about it.
My first experience with a vape was in Amsterdam with a Volcano. The herb smoked was Shiva (strain) and basically, it made my cough my ASS off. I was not satisfied.
Since then, I've heard/read SO much about vaporizers, namely the Volcano, that I'm very tempted to try it again. I am hoping that it was just the spicy Shiva that made me cough...along with possibly an over-zealous store owner turning up too high on me.
NOW, here's the rub:
I have enough money to buy a Volcano...and lots of people say that if you can afford it, do it...but I also see a bunch of reports that the Vapezilla, Vapolution, Vape Bros...etc work well, also.
My questions, I guess are:
Is the Volcano really worth all the $$?
If I buy it with all the accessories (enough for a couple years use without replacing anything), it will cost a pretty penny, but if it works like it's supposed to, it should be worth it, right?
Recently, I've been giving my gf the first hit of the bowl (she doesn't smoke), and she loves the taste, as long as I just burn the trichomes and not the bud. The taste is great...the hit is smooth...and it still gets her high. I'm wondering if this is what it is like to use a Volcano...or any other vape for that matter.
I quit ciggarettes a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to go really healthy...but I'm definitely not giving up smoking herb...so I want to know if I will be dissapointed.
Some reviews I've seen say that you don't get as high...others say you get higher. Some say the taste is great...some say it sucks. I'm so confused. Either way, if I drop some dime on that machine, I really don't want to have to take advantage of the 30-day money back trial. I want to keep it for ever and ever and be a happy, healthy camper.
What do ya think? Should I go for the Rolls Royce of smoking apparatus? I hope I get some good answers from people who have actual experience and/or good testimonials. Thanks, guys & gals.

Go for the valcano! It's worth the money if you got it. Vapes are fucking awesome. Saves weed, gets you higher, and healthier. Also the thing about the harshness is because you aren't use to vapes. Once you been using them for a while, its not really that harsh. But until you get use to it, it can be kinda stingy on the throat...atleast thats how it was for me. But maybe if the valcano isn't within your budget you could buy one of the cheaper ones, it's just those tend to break easier, and I guess aren't as good as the valcano. But actually now that I think about it. I'd buy a cheaper vape, and see how you like that. If you don't like it, stick to smoking.

Hey, Matt. Do you own a vaporizer? The reason I ask about the less expensive ones are that I wonder if they will perform as well...then of course it would not be worth it if it broke after a year. I hear some have up to 5 yr warranty. I know the Volcano has a 3 yr...
So, do you own one?
OH, and for those people who voted, but didn't post...please post your reason for voting. Thx.

The Fog :rastasmoke:I personally don't own one but know plenty of people that do, and have used a quite a few. I was actually planning on buying a valcano sometime this week, but I have decided to take a break from herb for a little bit. And the whole breaking thing, my friends vape broke maybe three times and each time he got a new/fixed/different parts for it. But he was disatisfied with that vape and has gone back to smoking. I think you would be better off buying a more expensive vape than the cheaper ones. Something as "high-tech" as a vape is something I would invest good money in.

if you have the money, id say o for it. but if possible, id say try it a few more times before you get one, to see if you really like it. hell, if you can try as many different ones you can to see wghich ones are good. i know that the ones with elements are bad and you want the ones that vap the bud with hot air. ive never vaped, but im sure its pretty sweet. i mean yeah the volcano is probably better, bust they all pretty much do the same thing right? They're great. I own one and I don't use it enough. You won't get your money's worth out of the vaporizer if you continue to burn your ganja or tobacco. You won't get your moneys worth out of it if you don't use good weed in it either. Because I'm broke (thanks in part to buying that thing :D) I don't really get the chance to smoke good weed often enough to make it worth it.
I don't regret buying it because I know it's a life investment but make sure you know what you are getting into. I wish I bought it maybe a little later down the road, right now I'm smoking (pot, blunts, rolled cigarettes, thankfully not addicted to the cancer sticks) too often that I never get my money's worth out of it.
It's about health. If you want to live healthy than it's worth it. Don't get it if you aren't committed. It's only really worth it's money for using really high quality pot too.

Hmmm, I would most likely be using high-quality buds, so that's a plus, eh? And I have always enjoyed life the most when I was on a set gym schedule and doing physical exercise...so health is a definite goal here. Although smoking weed doesn't bother me as much as ciggs, it is noticable in the loss of breath when running, etc.
Shiva is an amazing strain, if i were you i wouldn't spend all that money on a vape. I've regretted buying one in the past. Imo, you can't beat a good glass bong.
Personally, I didn't like it all that much. I prefer more fruity bud, now that I've tasted more of them. I am not too hot on spicy weed, and apparently they make me cough a lung up when used in a vaporizer....:wtf:
RR, I always took you for upper-teens/low twenties. You say you've regretted buying one in the past...so you bought a Volcano? Just trying to understand what you're saying. I'm all for bongs as well. I own one. Not a glass one (short plastic basic one), just cuz I don't use it that much. They are to messy with the water and all...and too big for hiding. This obviously is going to be an issue with the Volcano, but I hope to get a nice discreet box for it or something.
I personally wouldnt spend that much money on any smoking device. In what way are volcanos better than other vapourisers that are a little cheaper?
Well, depends how much you smoke. If you smoke LARGE quantities of bud, an investment like this could really pay off if it is as efficient and effective as it is supposed to be. And as far as "in what way are they better...," that's what I'm trying to find out. Apparently, they are supposed to be more durable/reliable on a long term usage basis. This is important. I guess it also depends how much you can afford to spend...and how it will impact your life. ;)
It looks like most people are leaning towards YES...and most people who actually OWN one have had good experiences with it...hmmm I'd like to see more responses, of course...but I'm pretty much sold so far...
Soo...the next question is...
Digital/Analog Volcano??? :D :vap_rasta:

i tried a volcano once but i just dont like sucking out of a bag
my friend has a super vapezilla and we like that much better than a volcano
i own a vapor cannon which i bought off of ebay $120 and both me and my friend enjoy it just as much, the only thing better about the vapezilla is you cannot burn your weed as easily because you set the temperature digitally and a fan controlls your draw rate
if i were you i would consiter looking at the

Hey Fog ,
I have never used a Volcano . The bags strike me like it could be a pita . The price too - 500.00 could be a 3rd cooltube and 1000w. ballast. Im a tight wad . I dont have the use of any of my fingers that are left on either hand so this limits me w/ alot of things too . I have a vaporwarez vapor cannon w/ the ceramic heating element . = Vapor bros. minus $40.00 for their name . 5 year wattanty on the heat element - it's hands free , and I can pack it -n- reload it by myself still .:) I've had it for 3 yrs. and have ordered 2 others for friends .
While Marcus was here we made a dbl. batch of brownies from used vapo duff . My 49 yr. old friend ate 3 brownies and was out behind my garage barfin in the neighbors backyard he was so high . Vapo edibles = Bonus !!! Your girl will love brownies . Just the green hit LOL . You spoiled her . :hippy: Even Juicy J laffed at that 1 .
I gave 129.00 from a guy off of ebay , but dealt offsite . A guy Dave in Virginia - He's the only 1 I saw that included a 2nd. whip for free . = Sweet if 1 gets broke - they're glass .
I fukd up and bought a conduction style vapo - B.C. vapo. weed sits in a actual bowl that heats up = wasteful . Buds smoldering wether your hitting it or not - tastes like burnt popcorn or burnt peanut shells . MMMMMMMMM = Not .
Other style is convection - Only combustion of the product when you are drawing the heated air through the weed . Much much more efficient -n- it does taste like the weed untill it's cashed . Were able to take raw nugs off live plants pop em in the whip and 0 dry time to get taste tests / potency tests imediately = big ass bonus for us growers . Thank Granny for that tip too. Old girls way cool .
I can't comment on what I haven't tried ya know . But the vapor cannon w/o the whip on it could sit out on a desk in an office and look like a pencil sharpener man . Shit dont look criminal or offensive in any way . If Im by myself and using just the cannon I go through about 2-3 tbl. spoons of weed a day . If smoking - bongin - bowln' I can go through an 1/8 to a 1/4 oz. a day .
Stay cool , Stay safe

I havent used a volcano, but Steven Haggor (former 20 yr editor of high times) told me that they are the best option because they regulate the heating of the bud and you get nothing but vapor (if you hit to hard on vapor bros style vapes you can ignite the bud and get smoke).
That could have happened though when you sampled, you see you can take HUGE amounts of vapor but you cant take HUGE amounts of smoke with out it burning your throat and tasting like shit (at least out of a vaporizor).
I have a vapor bros. vaporizor and I love it. Its definately something that requires a little bit of finess. It DOES ignite if you have the heat too high or the bud is too finely broken up, but if you use it long enough to know what you're doing you can do interesting things.
such as...
load most of the bowl with your bud picked apart to a leafy consistancy (big enough for air pockets but creates a surface) and sprikle kief on top, very very very gently toke for a long time (watching the glass if it gets too thick with vapor back off the hit because its about to smoke - smoke HURTS and ruins the taste for the rest of the bowl) and you will get an EXTRA minty flavor plus be pretty much full on stoned off of that one hit.
another option....
you must have a sphearical mouth piece (not flat) but you can put your mouth piece into a bong (where the bowl would go) and drag through the bong for an even BIGGER cooled hit.
for me the biggest draw of a vaporizor is TASTE. you can taste the orange in a orange krush, the sweet/sour of grapefruit and the minty flavor of anything that is trichrome heavy. If you're lucky enough to have several strains then you really get the pleasure of noticing the differences in all of the bud.

Let me start off by saying that when buying such items as vaporizers, it really comes down to the person who owns and uses it most. Everyone is different and has what they like. I myself have used several different types of vaporizers (Volcano, voodoo, vapir, vapor bros, vaporking) and they all have their own way of getting you stoned.
Buying a Volcano is a big investment, so know what you want or you will end up unhappy. I have owned two different types of vaporizer's and I regret not researching enough. As far as efficiency, the volcano wins hands down. In your case, you may also want to look into the whip style vaporizer as xcrispi was saying. A good friend of mine owns the Vapor bros and for the money, I think there is no better vaporizing product out there. We know that in the end, whether it be a lightbulb, a volcano or a bong, your gonna get stoned. With that being said, it may just be better to spend a little less money now and maybe in a few years you'll know for sure if your ready to commit to spending the money on a Volcano. Some people just don't enjoy vaporizing at all. So my vote goes towards the Vapor Bros. whip style vaporizer for affordability, efficiency, and effectiveness. good luck on your hunt for the healthiest high.

Aww, man...this is exactly what I didn't want to happen. I knew I should've started this thread earlier...
Thank you for all the great comments. That is some real helpful information.
However...being a bit impulsive as I am.........the :vap_smiley: is on it's way to me as we speak...I should have a smoke...err...vape report within a week.
I am really almost dissapointed in myself for not waiting a little longer to get some more responses to this thread before I made my purchase. After reading the responses from today (along with previous knowledge), I probably would get a Vapor Bros. or an Herbalaire. The Vapezilla looks good, but it's almost the same price as the Volcano.
The thing I think I might miss about NOT getting a Herbalaire or Vapezilla is that they really don't look like anything conspicuous. That Vapezilla looks like some piece of equipment you could keep on a desk or something...
Ohh well, like I said, thanks for all the comments and help. I wish I could've had a little more patience, but I'm really excited about it...and well, I have the money NOW. Who knows about later, right? Jeez, it's expensive...:wtf:
I'm going to keep positive about it, though eh? Who knows, maybe I'll buy a different one, TOO...! Or send back the Volcano and get different one...they do have a 4 wk trial period. I also want a portable one...hmmmmm
Thanks, guys....by the way...even though a lot of people are saying otherwise, the poll says get it! haha. Who put "other?"
I hope the taste is as good as I'm expecting. The "green" hit from the bowl I smoke tastes GREAT with the good weed I'm smoking, so I'd be really pleased if it tastes like that all the way thru. I think I'm getting to old to be smoking charred material...or maybe I've just smoked so much weed over the years that it's made my lungs say "HOLD ON, MAN!" lol Anyway, I'll let you u guys know what I think when I get it! :D:D:D:D So exciting. lol

Definitely worth it. You can get the classic model online for around $450. The health benefits, ability to stretch your herb, and cuts the smell down 75%. The down sides I see are the cost and it's size. You can't do it in another room unless your really far away from everyone else and they don't hear the crinkly oven bag. Otherwise it's the shit!

Got me a classic last week, and am impressed with it's quality. I've used a few other models before, long ago, and greatly prefer the inflatable bag method. 4 people can do good sized tokes off of one full bag. Not only is it more practical for the social scene, but the temperature of the vapor via the bag is significantly lower than ripping on a whip. Getting scorched throat/lungs = teh suck.
Just need to find something high-grade to put in it!

So TGF, you must have recieved the volcano by now because I know they give free next day shipping. Are you enjoying it? Once you buy one of those things it's hard to use anything else. I will be using the volcano tonight probally but my same friend with the volcano also just got a new bong.
Don't regret getting the expensive one. I've thought a lot about the other vaporizers and honestly I like the volcano the most. I've also heard it's more efficent. There is no smell if you cover the weed quick enough. I vaporized in a friends basement in a non-cannabis-friendly house with no problems.

The high from the volcano vaporizer is really strong. I didnt smoke in a week and vape my cannabis and found it pretty intense. It also boils down to the kind of cannabis you have, if its a potent strain or if its weak cannabis. The vaporizer is just a diffrerent method of delivering the chemicals to your body. I think the volcano vaporizer is the best.

In December I started with a Vapor Brothers hands free model ($129). I wanted the health benefits and as a lifetime smoker wanted to try something new. I LOVED IT, but it only worked fine for the first six weeks or so then started to become very unstable, sometimes very hot, sometimes very cool, sometimes just right. I then bought a digital vaporizer ($149) and was DOA when I got it home; it wouldn't heat up once you toked. I was furious, went back to the store exchanged for a Volcano after being reassured it was the BEST vape available and have not smoked in anything since - and never will.
The reason the Volcano is the best is that it's German made. Their manufacturing tolerances are way lower than cheaply made vapes. Also, look at the packaging. The volcano comes in a 'real' box with real color inserts from a real technology based company, not a brown box with a sticker on it like most vapes.
Everyone thinks they can get the benefits of a Volcano for cheaper. The reason they are expensive is they are the best. It's like saying, 'my car is exactly like a Beemer, just cheaper', no it's not. It's not a Beemer, no matter what you say or read, it isn't and never will be. Anything that is German made has the highest engineering standards.
Also, when on the right temp, 6 = 95% THC extraction, there is ZERO discernible smell. With a balloon you can take it outside, so someone in the shower, who's making dinner, etc. With a hose based vape, you can't do that and the glass bulbs shatter very easily, so make sure you have a backup.
Since getting my volcano, literally 15+ of my friends have purchased one since trying mine - even the skeptical ones. When we have parties 5-6 of us bring our Volcano's, you can get a very cool aluminum travel case, and make balloons all night. We also have inverters for our cars when we camp or travel to events or concerts, we're that serious.
Ps. When some folks smoke a Volcano for the first time, they get extremely loaded, some friends have had to lie down for a bit or just sit and veg. AWESOME!

After using the volcano for the first time on vacation this past June, I realized I had to have one. At first I had the same question everyone else has when they are debating whether or not to buy a volcano. How can I justify spending $650 on a vaporizer? If the volcano was more affordable ($200), everyone would have one.
One of the best qualities about the volcano is that it is an investment and will pay for itself over time. The amount of pot I use weekly is nothing compared to what I would use if I were to just smoke joints. The amount you need to vape to get high is very small. For example, I use this thing everyday...sometimes I will fill the bag twice, sometimes 4 times. I say 2 and 4 because I vape each bowl twice. I just turn the temperature up for the second run. The amount of pot used is not very much, think of covering a coin (penny or dime) and. So if you stack 2 coins on top of each other that would give you a good idea of how much you need to fill the bag twice if you run it through 2 times. After having the volcano for two months I still get blitzed off hardly any weed. I haven't rolled a joint since I got my volcano, I simply have no desire. Why would I roll a joint when they consume more weed, more energy, is harder on the lungs, and doesn't get you nearly as high???
My main concern after the price was my tolerance or immunity. Would I quickly gain a tolerance after a few uses? Well 2 months has gone by and it takes the same amount for me to get high now as it did the day I bought it.
I don't recommend using the volcano if you are drunk...a few days ago I had a few drinks and went home and filled the balloon twice...afterwards I had the spins so bad I had to go to bed because I thought I was going to faint.
Anyways, this thing is great...if you can afford it, buy it.

Seems like I've been experiencing the exact opposite of what some people are saying.
1. I can't taste the weed at all. The smoke reminds me of hay or something, which isn't great, but who really cares.
2. I think my tolerance, specifically to the vape, rose a lot when I used it almost exclusively. Gave it a break tho and i was blazed again the second go round.
But as its been said, it really conserves weed, gets ya really baked and I like how it looks like a kitchen appliance. If u got the money I'd go ahead and get it.

all i can say is ive got a volcano ive had it for about 6 months now and its the best fucking contraption let alone vapourizor there is, well in my opinion anyway.
they may be rather expensive but if you got the dolla for one its well worth it especially if your a heavy toker like me an dont smoke tobacco.
seriously though if you can afford one then get one you wont be dissapointed
there are quit robust to ive dropped mine a few times and it works fine,
an anyone who says they not as good as straight burnin weed, how wrong you are they are more efficeint an you can still either smoke the remains or use it for honeyoil.
most of my maters that come round wont smoke the volcano cos it gets em way too stoned. nothing else will do for me tho.
heres a link i found were tests where done to see how efficant and how much it reduced toxins in cannabis smoke
sorry if its been posted already tho
i think that trainwreck your probs are that you havnt tried a good enough vap try the volcano it makes me cough an i do about 10 a day. look at the creamy vapour in the pics thatl knock most hardcore tokers on their ass after a couple of those bag fulls.

I am so glad i got my Volcano. Your weed will last literally twice as long so if you smoke a lot you will pay off your purchase in less than a year with all the weed you save. :rastasmoke: I have noticed that if you take big hits off the bag then your throat will hurt but if you take small hits you wont even feel it. annother advantage of the volcano is if you are smoking great weed than you will taste your weed more than you ever could when smoking. the fruity, sour, and piney tastes are awsome. also the smell disapates very quickly so people who live with parents can hot box a room and in 20 minutes you wont smell anything. also, you need to change you bag every week or 2. if you keep the same bag too long then the taste/pain in the throat will be much worse.

I have one, it is an extreme body high for a very small amount of bud, while bongs deliver more of a mental... personally the Volcano is such a badass thing... its so easy to use. It will make you numb

I grow my own weed (gremlin in Hydro buckets) and put the bud in a coffee grinder untill it is literaly powder. I use a 1/4 tsp measuring spoon and at most I put 1/8 but mostly 1/10 of a tsp of this powder into my Volcano which I got 2 years ago. I do maybe 2 or 3 of these a day (is that alot?) and I get a really good buzz but the only downside is the cough, I will somtimes spend 15 or 20 min with a "bothersome" but not hacking type of cough. I make a 1/4 last me 4 to 5 weeks without a problem and I definatly feel better since I no longer "smoke" at all.
Bottom line,,,, throw the Bic lighter away and go directly to the closest Volcano dealer and forget about the imatations, it is the most amazing way to enjoy weed and it is no more harmful then sticking your head over a cool mist humidifier and breathing in!
I would get one again in a second.

It's really cool to see the amount of users on here that really appreciate the volcano vaporizer. I myself really appreciate it as well. The hits are really smooth and my lungs dont feel like shit unlike when I smoke from a bong, pipe, joints etc. Truthfully I wish they made a portable volcano vaporizer. If that was the case, I would never even look at a zig zag papes ever again.

I have the volcano classic with the classic valve.
I don't smoke anywhere NEAR as much as I used to, and I use the volcano like 90% of the time. (the other 10% accounts for being away from home or using the bong while im waiting for the volcano to warm up. =) )
I have owned and tried several other vaporizers, the first one i ever used was a heat gun/bong. Didn't know what i was doing, burnt the shit out of it, tasted like burnt popcorn.
Im sure they work well though, i don't know, its been a about 8 years since i tried it.
The first one i actually purchased was a portable small one, about the size of a smallish joint, all glass, cost about 15 bucks, called the Ubie. It broke quickly, it was made of thin glass, got vaped bud in your mouth all the time, etc. but it was ok for 15 bones. still smoked all the time though.
The next one I bought was a wooden box style vape with the rubber tube, the glass mouthpiece, and the glass bowl on the other end. Mine broke the same day. (the part that the glass bowl fits over, also being glass, broke off.) It was angled oddly, hard to get heating of the herb.
Then i moved to Canada, near Toronto, and found the Vapour Lounge. They have good selection of vapes that you can sit down and TRY for 5 bucks a day. You bring your own bud. This is where i first tried the volcano digital and the easy valve.
I think i vaped for an hour steady with my gf, I was so incredibly fucked, that I couldn't drive(never EVER happens to me when i smoke).
I ended up purchasing the Classic Volcano with the classic valve.
The only diferences between the classic and the digital are the obvious classic vs. digit,
the digital has an auto-shutoff after 30 minutes of not being used.
Seriously, that is all the difference. plus the money of course.
The valve system makes more of a difference. If you want to save money (and the earth) by not throwing away the plastic mouthpieces, get the classic. you can completely disassemble everything to clean it in iso.
Or if you don't want to clean things, get the easy valve, but you will throw away the used bags and pay more money for the bags with the mouthpieces attached.
You can save the vaped bud for making cannabutter later. No matter what everybody says, you can still extract a little bit of thc and other canabanoids from the vaped bud. You obviously need to use a little more, but it still works.
And for the sake of you and your cannabutter, use a double boiler so you don't waste/burn off the butter!!!!(put one smaller pot inside a slightly larger pot, the larger pot fill with a couple inches of water, then add the vaped herb and butter/oil to the smaller pot on top, boil the water on the bottom, just enough to heat the butter evenly, cook for 30 minutes, stir every five or so, strain through a coffee filter/cheesecloth, and you are good to go.) You don't need to let it sit overnight and harden this way, and you can use it immediately, AND you don't burn/waste any butter!!!

I get the same cough problem sometimes, but I think it is actually helping me get the shit out of my lungs, it doesn't feel like coughing before. I have noticed other people with the same type of cough after vaping with my "cano.
It could also be due to higher temps?? higher than like six on my 'cano makes me cough.

from what i understand the thc in the vapor is still an aggravator of your mucus glands, and thats why you cough even thought youre vaping... however its just thc and not thc + smoke so its still _gotta_ be better for your lungs.

i get the same problem too sometimes but i found that turning down the temp a bit or doing smaller bags helps with the coughing an makes it smoother
its not as irritating as a smoking cough but can get annoying sometimes

I just want to point this out for anyone considering a volcano.
Everyone who is carrying on about it doesn't seem to even mention any others. I seriously doubt that many have used the volcano, vapor one, vapor bros, herbalaire etc and have much of a point of comparison.
Yes, they are nice, yes they are robust but in responce to the bmw comparison, you've never raced a BMW. They are not the be-all, end-all.
I'm all for the proliferation of the vaporizer but I think the volcano is more of that "it's really expensive so it MUST be better" marketing strategy.

i currently own a classic with the regular valve. bought it from my sister boyfriend for 300 bucks. never looked back after that. best vaporization possible. tried those cheap ones in head shops from the super vapezilla to the vape pipes. everything has its pros and cons. plain and simple the volcano crushes all. it takes maybe 2 minutes to heat up but your busy preping till then. depending on how much herb is used determines how many bags you get. bags come in 9 foot sections so you can make them as big as needed. and you can watch around with the concentrated cloud of goodness. how convenient bags last forever. i only replace them when i find a pin hole in the bag but that is only caused by continuious folding or want the freshest taste possible. i take the accessories apart once month for a cleaning so nothing gets to sticky. i had the super vapezilla on back order forever glad i cancelled. unlike the vapezilla you can not taste any of the components that the volcano uses while its heated and in use. no plastic taste or rubber taste. thats my experience hope it helps!

plain and simple the volcano crushes allThe 'cano is a great vape, but in what respect does it 'crush all'? Vaporization is a simple process and many vapes can do the job equally well. I've owned a dozen different models, from the VaporGenie to the herbalAire and SSV. I've used the 'cano but haven't bought one. I don't see the need. I've compared one directly to the herbalAire, and if anything, the herbalAire is more efficient. And I'm not the only one with that opinion.
tried those cheap ones in head shops from the super vapezilla to the vape pipes. Since the SV costs more than the 'cano Classic I don't know why you'd use "cheap" and "super vapezilla" in the same sentence. Aside from the Vapir products and their plastic shells, where you need to do a 'burn in' to get rid of the plastic taste/smell, I've found that most vape owners, myself included, have no issue with "plastic taste or rubber taste". The Vapolution, using the 8" glass AIW bowl, has an all glass vapor path. Air goes into the glass heating chamber, gets heated (from outside the chamber), travels out through the AIW bowl (no screen), and into your mouth. What could be cleaner than that? And yet I can tell no difference in taste between that unit, which I've owned for 2 yrs, and my SSV (despite the tubing) or herbalAire.
And as nice as the Volcano is, it can't compete with a good whip vape for rich vapor, as in higher vapor to air ratio. I find a bag unit very easy to use, but boring compared to the whip experience.

oh man, another one of these debates
There is no end-all vaporizer. Its all a matter of personal preference and situation. Maybe some of the members on this board are younger or dont/cant afford to dropp $550 on a volcano, that is understandable.
The volcano does not do anything signifigantly better than other vaporizers, it simply what its meant to do. SO why does a volcano cost so much? Have you ever seen one in person? It is a well-designed and not-so-cheaply manufactured product. When you see/hold it in person, it feels like a $500+ machine, not just a junky headshop device. You are paying for engineering and materials.
That doesnt mean that other product does the same thing. Look at the Vapir One for example. It does not have an amazing design or as high-end materials used, but it still does the same thing that the volcano does, but all for a price of 150.
SO it comes down to which piece suits your personal needs more. Maybe you find it beneficial to save ~$400 and get the vapir and put the rest of your money to other things. If you can afford the vcolcano, then go ahead, you will not be dissapointed.
This is one one of those instances where you get what you pay for, and in this case it mostly pertains to the quality of materials used, not so much the method in which it is obtained.

even cheap vaporizers work EAY better than any other form of smking... though the do NOT conserve ur stash.. they regulate a buzz and makes any chronic (even dirt) as strong as a good nugget.
a substance that is superior to vaporizing more than weed is Zo hai.. that shit is mad strong under the vaporizer..

Only used it for a few weeks before I got a decent one. Don't know if yours was going bad, but it's a conduction vape (like a hot plate) and far inferior to a decent convection model.

After owning both a volcano vaporizor and a digital natural goods vaporizer i came to the conclusion that the high i got from my volcano over time diminished dramatically from the high of my natural goods vape.:rastasmoke: The natural goods vape performs just as well as the volcano. The drawbacks are the custom whip of the natural goods vape, if you break it good luck finding another custom whip to fit it! People say you lose vapor with a whip system but honestly if you plug the whip its chill. The volcano is way quicker as far as heat up and smoke time, but something about the 20-25 minute natural good sesh just can't be beat. Just gets me higherrr
